Loggy88 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Be a difficult game this one, Boro have improved hugely under Karanka, but we're in great form. If we win can only see it being by the odd goal, but that will do!
Bluetintedspecs Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 BoroWeasel No mate I ain't on one Boro at the moment just on here like yourself trying to stir up some banter between the fans Bring your towel so you can throw it on the pitch to save your players from the battering we're going to give you.....that do? On a serious note UT, like I previously said to Weasel your recent form is unquestionably the 2nd best in the division atm.If we play to our best ala Direby game I personally feel we will have too much for you to handle. My prediction 3-1 win.
UpTheBoro16 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 A bit of information on Boro. Under Karanka we look a lot more solid, without conceding silly goals like under Mowbray. Karanka has also brought in Shay Given, Nathaniel Chalaboh and Kenneth Omeruo, Shay has been superb like literally no Boro fan could fault him. The other 2 have yet to be in the squad as Aitor doesn't want to change a winning team. We have been playing 4-2-3-1 under Aitor with Grant Leadbitter and Dean Whitehead holding in midfield. Our success under Aitor has came from tightening up the back 4 and breaking fast with Adomah, Ledesma and Carayol who all possess pace and technical ability. Middlesbrough's main problem which is no secret is we haven't got a goalscoring forward, we've been linked with Becchio, Doyle and Rochina in this window but Boro fans wouldn't be happy with the latter 2. A positive for Boro is that Jonathan Woodgate should be fit for Saturdays game but Adomah is a doubt as he sat out the 1-0 victory over Charlton. My prediction is a very tight game and sitting on the fence at 1-1 (Nugent & Leadbitter) UTB
Corky Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 You are doing well, remember you got a bit of criticism for going for Karanka and not a British coach (when they had conspired to send you to the bottom of the Championship) yet so far he's taking you up the table. Was a real gamble but it's paying off right now.
Happy Fox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Good news that Ritchie is fit http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-defender-Ritchie-Laet-fit/story-20487970-detail/story.html

harpendenfox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 In normal circumstances our team for Saturday would pick itself. I'm starting to wonder what Liam's state of mind is now.If he wasn't a teeny bit interested in Fulham he could say 'I'm really flattered by Fulham's interest, but I'm more than happy here at Leicester'. He hasn't. Nige may well have a tricky call to make as to whether he's in the right mind to play.
Kitchandro Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I'd defiantly add carayol to that list. if Adomah is back chances are we will start with Adomah,Emnes and Ledesma with Kei Kamara the lone striker with muzzy on the bench watch for muzzy coming of the bench (normaly comes on after an hour or there abouts) he is rapid and any tired legs will struggle to catch him, he effectively won us the match at blackpool. Woah woah woah. 'Muzzy'? You crossed the line fella.
deejdeej Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 The Boro lot seem a decent bunch, judging by what they say Adomah is their main threat, can't say I've seen much of them so wouldn't know myself. Not one of them has called this game 'leicester's cup final' which is a rarity lately!
davieG Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Best team in the league again. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aitor-karanka-relishing-leicester-city-6558172

NewburyFox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Seems like a genuinely nice guy Aitor, I saw the interview with him on the FLS and warmed to him. Potentially no Ayala for boro it seems, that would be a bonus.
Carl the Llama Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I didn't want to, but I like Karanka. Level-headed and sensible, the league could do with more managers like him, none of this "boo hoo it's not fair that I spent my millions on the wrong area of the squad".
Corky Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Best team in the league again. http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aitor-karanka-relishing-leicester-city-6558172 Aitor, come off it mate. We don't have QPR's defence, Burnley's strikeforce, Derby's midfield, Forest's manager, Reading's top flight experience, Brighton's flair, Watford's contacts, Bolton's high earners, Yeovil's fighting spirit, Blackpool's Tom Ince.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I didn't want to, but I like Karanka. Level-headed and sensible, the league could do with more managers like him, none of this "boo hoo it's not fair that I spent my millions on the wrong area of the squad". Same here. He comes across as quietly classy. I still think we'll win though. 3-1
MrSpaM Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Bit of an update from the boro forums :- We're entirely unsure how we're going to line up, there's transfer bedlam at the minute and conflicting newspaper reports. In an ideal scenario, we'd line up as such (IMO):-------------------Given--------------------Varga--------Ayala-----Williams-------Friend--------Leadbitter----------Whitehead---------------------------Emnes------------------Adomah------------------------------Ledesma---------------------Kamara-----------------bench: Dimitrios Konstantopoulos (what a name!), Gibson, Carayol, Jutkiewicz, Chalobah, Main, Woody/Williams.Northern Echo claims Chalobah and Omeruo aren't in the squad, and technically we don't have ayala anymore. According to the Northern Echo, Ayala is digging his heels in but a fee is agreed, according to the evening gazette, wages are agreed but Norwich are digging their heels in. Someone else is claiming Given may be out injured and also we've loaned out several of our fringe players from our academy. Alongside that, Adomah was sidelined at the weekend with n injury so I have no clue what the actual team will be... But anyways Our key threat is Adomah. He beats players with his pace and skill for fun. He has a good shot and is generally a good passer and crosser of the ball who works tirelessly for the team. He always tracks back. In addition, Ledesma has been in the goals recently with 3 in 6. He's another tricky player who isn't fast, but accelerates very well in short bursts. He has a penchant for going for the spectacular and has a cracking left foot and the 3 goals he has scored in our recent games have all been from 25 yards plus. He's a much more direct player who will try to get his head up and instantly make a pass. Whilst most of the time this is very useful for us, it means sometimes he can try to force moves and waste possession. Carayol is another player who has scored a fair few goals. We'll likely bring him on in the second half to test tired legs, as his pace can be lethal. Lastly, Kei Kamara whilst not as much of a goalscoring threat, is very much an aerial threat. He's 6 foot 3 and jumps like no one I've ever seen. I'm not sure who normally partners Morgan, but given Morgan's build, I doubt he's a player with much of a leap on him. Also if we play Juke up front, expect Morgan to rip him a new hole. Juke's only thing to his game is his strength and his strength isn't even comparable to Morgan's.Our defence has been solid with 5 clean sheets in our last 6 matches. Given has also played a pivotal role in this.Best of luck for the rest of the season after Saturday. You should secure promotion. I'm going for a 2-0 boro win, but that's just because I refuse to ever bet against my team winning
