The eight awards celebrate achievements on and off the pitch across the 72 Football League clubs, with 31 clubs nominated in total. Derby County lead the way with three nominations, including one for 17-year-old striker Mason Bennett - a regular in the Rams' first-team squad - for Championship Apprentice of the Year. Huddersfield midfielder Jake Charles and Middlesbrough midfielder Bryn Morris are also in the running for that award. Chief executive Shaun Harvey told the Football League's official website: "Many millions of fans attend Football League matches each season and The Football League Awards 2014 provides the opportunity to recognise star performances, both on and off the pitch. "Once again, the quality of the entries this year has been extremely high, so to make the shortlists is a real achievement by the clubs and individuals involved. We wish all those nominated the best of luck and look forward to a fantastic evening in March when we will announce the winners." Family Club of the Year Award: Birmingham City Bristol City Middlesbrough Oxford United Plymouth Argyle Wolverhampton Wanderers Community Club of the Year Award: Brentford (South East Winner) Derby County (Midlands Winner) Doncaster Rovers (North East Winner) Morecambe (North West Winner) Portsmouth (South West Winner)
Haydos Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 This will be a kick in the bollocks for them, seems like all they're striving to achieve nowadays.
MC Prussian Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 A lot of these clubs in the first category struggle to get decent crowds, is that why they were nominated in the first place - in order to attract more "family guests"?
shade Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 we hate you families, we do, we hate you families, we do, we hate you families, we do, ohhhh families we hate you.
Beliall Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 they should have abest atmosphere catagory. maybe some clubs might go for that.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Seeing as it's now renamed the North Stand, I'll take the flare in. I want it to be a veritable smokescreen. Me mate Dave will bring the darts and the snooker balls to lob at the away fans.
AndWhat? Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 What are we then? Cause we certainly aren't a young adults club! We must be an old bastards club now!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 I know what we are! We are a top of the fookin league team
Kitchandro Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 WOOHOOO! Barclay, Whelan and co can stick that in their pipes and smoke it.
VLC86 Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Probably something to do with someone trying to torch kids with a flair the other week. I thought kids love fireworks
LCFC FOX Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 I bet no other family stands set off smoke bombs Now they will hack it down to try and win this award you just know it
Dan Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Some people at the club will genuinely consider this a bad year now even if we do go up
Fox92 Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 What's so wrong with having the award anyway? Doesn't effect that much. Not sure what people are expecting, it's the 21st Century.
Harry - LCFC Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Most clubs do quite enough to accommodate families - we're one of them. Being given an award for it probably means you've gone too far. Some people really seem to think the five year olds in the North Stand are more important than the lifelong ST holders. They aren't.
ashfosse Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 great news. keep it up everyone. im sneaking fireworks and cocaine into the family stand next time. WYS
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 To not be nominated for the family club award has really ruined what was turning into a great season for me and many other fans. There's a dark cloud hanging over the club now. Remember everyone, be lucky, be safe.

The five year olds are likely to become life long ST holders Seriously though it winds me up when people claim that one sectIon of fans is more important than another
Guest MattP Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Some people inside the club will be self harming if we don't win programme of the year now.

ashfosse Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 The five year olds are likely to become life long ST holders Seriously though it winds me up when people claim that one sectIon of fans is more important than another which is why it winds me up with all these family aimed initiatives. young adults are the ones who mostly create the atmosphere and are totally alienated in comparison.
