Just out  of interest, I worked out a league based on the results of the current top six teams against each other - Leicester and Burnley have been the most successful so far this season with Derby, surprisingly, trailing last by a very long way.

1 Leicester........Played 6, Won 4, Drawn 1, Lost 1....Points 13

2 Burnley..........Played 6, Won 3, Drawn 3, Lost 0....Points 12

3 Forest............Played 6, Won 3, Drawn 2, Lost 1....Points 11

4 Reading.........Played 6, Won 2, Drawn 2, Lost 2....Points   8

5 QPR...............Played 6, Won 1, Drawn 2, Lost 3....Points   5

Leicester results: Burnley (h) 1-1, Forest (h) 0-2, Reading (h) 1-0, QPR (a) 1-0, Derby (h) 4-1, Derby (a) 2-1. Goals for 9, Goals against 5.

Forest results: Leicester (a) 2-0, Burnley (h) 1-1, Reading (h) 2-3, Reading (a) 1-1, QPR (h) 2-0, Derby (h) 1-0. Goals for 9, Goals against 5

Reading results: Leicester (a) 0-1, Burnley (a) 1-2, Forest (a) 3-2, Forest (h) 1-1, QPR (h) 1-1, Derby (a) 3-1. Goals for 9, Goals against 8.

QPR results: Leicester (h) 0-1, Burnley (a) 0-2, Burnley (h) 3-3, Forest (a) 0-2, Reading (a) 1-1, Derby (h) 2-1. Goals for 6, Goals against 10.

Derby results: Leicester (h) 1-2, Leicester (a) 1-4, Burnley (h) 0-3, Forest (a) 0-1, Reading (h) 1-3, QPR (a) 1-2. Goals for 4, Goals against 15.

I remember thinking last year we had the toughest run of fixtures and we came out of that okay. From memory drawing 1-1 with Brighton, beating Bolton 3-2, beating Forest 3-2.

I think, and I'm glad for this, that our squad thrive on these challenges. It's one of the reasons we've built such a gap. We don't fear teams any more. They fear us in the main. Maybe it's just the sheer confidence that has erupted because of our run, but I can't wait to play those 4 teams around us as well as the rest of the teams left.

And looking at it as a whole, it makes the 'run-in' a lot more interesting. It's not like one team plays bottom half teams for the majority of the rest of the season. Every team has a few challenging fixtures left.

Also noticed that Burnley/QPR have the same. Forest/Reading have the same. Us/Derby have the same.

But then this doesn't take in to account the other teams that could be challenging later on in the season - teams like Ipswich and Brighton.

Oh and obviously a very minor detail - we beat Derby 1-0 in the League and not 2-1 as mentioned in the original post; that was in the cup :D

Interesting stuff

We've probably got the hardest remaining fixtures of this sort imo

Agree. We traditionally struggle at Forest & Reading as well, and Burnley ain't lost at home all season.

Neither had QPR untill we turned up.

Oh aye. There's no fixture in this league I go into thinking we can't win although I must admit Forest away is going to test that one. I don't think they're a better side than us either.

Derby having 0-0-6 is very telling and for me it's why they won't go up.

Makes the article by that blogger who thought Derby would be more likely to do well in the Prem than us look even more ridiculous than it already did.

It's just idiots who blatantly don't watch Championship football talking shit to provoke a reaction. I don't know if it happens in all countries but it really is sad that people actually praise appalling journalism 'because it got a reaction'.

Predictions:

Forest 1-1 Leicester

Burnley 1-2 Leicester

Reading 2-1 Leicester (bogey ground!)

Leicester 2-1 QPR

Readings a bogey ground for us, when did we last win there in the league?

Am I right in thinking a 3-1 win with a Dickov brace in 02/03? Good omen? We were promoted, they were battling in the playoffs.. ;)

Forest 2-2 that season, and I would not be suprised if that happens again lol..again they were battling for the playoffs!
