Nalis Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 After Suarez's brilliant turn and volley against Arsenal which narrowly hit the post, it got me thinking have any of you seen any near misses where you've thought what a goal that would have been?

Nah, every good shot I have wanted to go in has gone in.
Facecloth Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Nothing that's stuck in my mind over years. I remember a Giroud volley against Spurs earlier in the season that hit the bar. But that and the Suarez effort will be forgotten soon enough.

Fox92 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Wellens' volley at Derby, when Weale scored the own goal and we lost 1-0. He hit the post, great technical ability. Was at least 20-25 yards out wasn't it?
AKCJ Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 No never. lol Gallagher scoring from the halfway line against Preston.
Bugg Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I remember Michael Morrison nearly scoring an absolute screamer for us against Sheffield United. Luckily for us he scored from the resulting corner. Another was against Newcastle when Fryatt went on a brilliant run only to have his shot saved off the line by a defender.

Was that not against Scunthorpe? We drew 2-2? Final home game of the season?
Bugg Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Was that not against Scunthorpe? We drew 2-2? Final home game of the season? Nope, I'm positive it was against Sheffield United on boxing day.
purpleronnie Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Pele's almost goal was the first one that came to mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDtlLaxkIOk
Fox92 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Nope, I'm positive it was against Sheffield United on boxing day. Yes it was. Morrison then scored from the resulting corner.

Kitchandro Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Disallowed Kevin Keegan 'goal' 81/82 v Manchester United http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9SXa55s2OM What on earth was that disallowed for?
AKCJ Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 What on earth was that disallowed for? Bloke in the middle is offside. This was before the whole "involved in play" rule came in.
Kitchandro Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Bloke in the middle is offside. This was before the whole "involved in play" rule came in. That is tragic. What an awful, awful rule offside used to be.
The Doctor Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Bloke in the middle is offside. This was before the whole "involved in play" rule came in. They're both a yard or so on...
