weller54 Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Example... Jamie Vardy!.. How many more are out there that can make the step up?... One of them I believe is Luke Freeman of Stevenage!
Jimothy Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Example... Jamie Vardy!.. How many more are out there that can make the step up?... One of them I believe is Luke Freeman of Stevenage! He was half decent on Fifa 13. Have you been playing fifa and basing your opinions on that? You have haven't you!
jonthefox Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 If were promoted, i could think of several championship players. That would constitute lower leagues right?.
lancyclaret Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Huddersfield have signed Lolley - striker from Kidderminster. I reckon he will do well next season.
Babylon Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Huddersfield have signed Lolley - striker from Kidderminster. I reckon he will do well next season. What's the make up of your squad lancy, where did most of them come from? Youth team, lower leagues?
Tommy G Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I think that Jamie Paterson is decent but Forest wouldnt sell to us...
Babylon Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I think that Jamie Paterson is decent but Forest wouldnt sell to us... Wallsal fan at work says we had looked at him in the summer.
weller54 Posted 21 February 2014 Author Posted 21 February 2014 Freeman came to stevenage from the Arsenal academy, he was signed to replace George Boyd.. Who is now playing in the premier league with Hull.. Freeman is an out and out left wing man and would be an ideal option to bring on for Dyer!...

Fox92 Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 There's quite a few. George Boyd now plays in the Premier League. Thing is with lower league players, they try. They might not have as much quality as another player but they don't stop. And I love Vardy for that, it's great to see.
CosbehFox Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Huddersfield have signed Lolley - striker from Kidderminster. I reckon he will do well next season. Tbf he's making a massive step up in 12 months. More massive than Vardy. He's playing in the lower divisions of county football then. That he's predominantly a winger will help though.

As you say he might have as mich technical ability as some of our players but every now and then he pops up with a gem. His goals against Boro, Qpr and Birmingham were all class. If we go up he will cause some defenders a real scare no doubt about it
Foxes Blue Blood Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I think that Jamie Paterson is decent but Forest wouldnt sell to us... If Florist don't get promotion this year and fall foul of FFP then they may have to sell many of their players to whoever.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I did at the start of the season like the look of Coventry's Callum Wilson. Well what i saw of him on highlights and Sky games. I know a lot of the bigger clubs are after him but Dele Alli at MK Dons looks like a good prospect. Darren Powell also at MK Dons looks good or did before his injury.
lancyclaret Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 What's the make up of your squad lancy, where did most of them come from? Youth team, lower leagues? Off the top of my head... G/K: Heaton (free from Bristol City, signed by Dyche) R/B: Tripper (£300,000 from Man City after loan, signed by Howe) L/B: Mee (£300,000 from Man City after loan, signed by Howe) C/H Duff (£25,000 from Cheltenham, signed by Cotterill) C/H Shackell (£1.1 million from Derby, signed by Howe) RM (Arfield (free from Huddersfield, signed by Dyche) CM Marney (£500,000 from Hull, signed by Laws) CM Jones (free from Wigan, signed by Dyche) LM Kightly (season long loan from Stoke) STR Ings (£1 million from Bournemouth, signed by Howe) STR Vokes (£400,000 from Wolves, signed by Howe) That's the regular starting XI Squad players:) GK Cisak (free from Oldham, signed by Dyche) RB O'Neill (£25,000 from Mansfield, signed by Howe) LB Lafferty (£100,000 from Irish team, signed by Howe) CB Long (£100,000 from Irish team, signed by Coyle) CB Edgar (£250,000 from Newcastle, signed by Coyle) RM Wallace (£750,000 from Preston, signed by Laws) CM Stock (£150,000 from Doncaster, signed by Howe) WING (Stanislaus (£1 million from West Ham, signed by Howe) WING (Treacy (£750,000 from Preston, signed by Howe) STR (Barnes (£750,000 from Brighton, signed by Dyche). Dyche has only been allowed to sign Barnes for a fee and just one loan player, Kightly. Howe was a big disappointment considering he was backed in transfer market (Charlie Austin) but he signed some good players who have improved under Dyche (Ings and Vokes). In the 2011/12 season, Howe guided us to a glorious 13th place despite having a strike force of Jay Rodriguez, Charlie Austin, Danny Ings and Sam Vokes (lengthy loan). If Dyche had been allowed to spend as much as useless Brian Laws and Howe, we would have probably made the play-offs last season or the season before that.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I'm curious, what makes you think he will be capable of making the step up to the prem?. I hope you're not basing it on the fact that he came through the arsenal youth academy?
Ric Flair Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 What Sean Dyche has done at Burnley is superb really.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 What Sean Dyche has done at Burnley is superb really. Indeed it is. I'd much rather they came up with us automatically than QPR or Forest.
Lambert09 Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 What Sean Dyche has done at Burnley is superb really. Much like Brian Mcdermott at Reading, Rodgers put the squad together but it didnt click at first. He capitalised on this and walked into a job that needed just a few tweaks. Maybe Howe should consider becoming a scout, some really good signings in there.
Finnaldo Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 I count that at around 4.7 million for the starting XI. Pretty impressive to be honest. Does anyone know what our current 11 would be valued at? I'd go: Schmeichel (from Leeds, undisclosed, although let's say £2 million) Konchesky (from Liverpool, Sven signing, so probably £1 million) Wes (from Forest, undisclosed though thought to be around £1 million) Moore (from academy, free. Was also free after trial if you put him in instead) De Laet (from Man U, brought with James, probs £500,000) Dyer (from MK Dons, maybe £200,000?) James (from Man U with De Laet, probs £500,000) Drinkwater (from Man U, £1million) Knockaert (from Guingamp, undisclosed, £1 million?) Nugent (from Portsmouth, free) Vardy (from Fleetwood, £1million) That makes our squad around £8.2 million on guesstimate. Not too bad either for what it would have been a couple years ago.
LCCFox96 Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 What Sean Dyche has done at Burnley is superb really.Always thought he was desperately unlucky to be sacked at Watford. Another victim of the foreign owners in British football. He seems a good motivator and man manager able to work on shoe string budgets, compared to the likes of QPR, Forest and ourselves. Preverbal two fingers at the Watford boardroom staff at the moment. Who needs Udinese loanees? Also trippier for £300k was a great deal. Always rated him as a player.A few lower league players i like are Tommy Rowe at Posh (creates, scores and leads his team) and Jed Wallace at Portsmouth is a talented youngster I'd like us to poach for development. Also been impressed with Alex Pritchard at Swindon, although he's on loan so does he count as lower league?
Munshi Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 1 Million for Ings is a robbery. What a player!
DennisNedry Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 1 Million for Ings is a robbery. What a player! I'd never heard of him before this season, Burnley got a bit lucky buying him just before he hit the best form of his career!
lancyclaret Posted 21 February 2014 Posted 21 February 2014 Howe also signed Charlie Austin for £1.2 million after Swindon had agreed a fee with Ipswich, but while at Burnley he also made some poor signings like Joe Mills (Reading), Zavon Hines (West Ham), Marvin Bartley (Bournemouth), and George Porter (Orient). All cost a fee with Bartley (£350,000) the most expensive so overall he is well in credit after Austin was sold for £4 million. Latest rumour is that Southampton are prepared to pay £10 million to get Ings in the summer - that is Ings's preferred destination as he comes from that area with family and friends nearby. I can see Lambert leaving with Rodriguez and Ings forming a double spearhead.
