weller54 Posted 23 February 2014 Author Posted 23 February 2014 And Fergie let both of them go???!!.. Cheers!! !.. They'd both be good enough to be in their starting 11 now!!!
foxfanazer Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Excellent players, bought at the right age to still improve too How to turn 2 into 3, that is the question. Doesn't matter how good the two in the middle are where in the Prem most have three. IF we were to go up we'll obviously need to strengthen the squad but I'd be surprised if we come out on top in even a few games with two in the middle, like mentioned above even Lennon & Izzet had Savage Knockaert as the attacking mid of the three? Wouldn't offer much protection to James and Drinkwater but would provide the link from tye midfield to the strikers
weller54 Posted 23 February 2014 Author Posted 23 February 2014 Someone like Lampard would be perfect!
RowlattsFox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 If James can stay fit for long period, which he has done so far, and continue to improve then I reckon he can go all the way, maybe even an England call up. He has a certain class about him. Like a Michael carrick.
weller54 Posted 23 February 2014 Author Posted 23 February 2014 Perhaps both of them for England!!.. don't see many other better options right now!!?
cc_star Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Knockaert as the attacking mid of the three? leicesterisme Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 We have King as backup but Hammond won't hack it in the Premiership... Any views on who we would sign?? Wouldn't be surprised if Nige tried to sign Cleverly, think he'll be leaving United in the summer.
pazzerfox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 And Fergie let both of them go???!!.. Cheers!! !.. They'd both be good enough to be in their starting 11 now!!! True, I remember someone on here moaning that we kept buying Man utd youngsters!! Proving to be excellent choices.

I think he'd do well in a three-man midfield with James and Drinky if it was called for. Remember it wasn't too long ago that he was being linked with £6m bids from Everton. He's just unlucky this year that James and Drinky have formed such a strong partnership and that there's no call for a three man central midfield.
Munshi Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Love how these two go unnoticed and players like Will Hughes get bummed off Skysports and the media. Our best player this season has been Drinkwater. Love James, the passion he shows alongside real talent is great to see.
Stadt Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 The picture of James after Mahrez equalised is brilliant
dmayne7 Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 I'm going to get slated for this because he has been fantastic this season but I'm not sure about how Drinkwater will do in the Prem next season. His game has been all about dictating the tempo and controlling the game which is aided by playing against lesser players and being in the strongest team in the division. Let's be honest; we aren't going to dominate loads of games next year and that means Drinkwater isn't going to have the opportunity to pull the strings. He certainly won't be terrible next year and I'm sure he can be a PL in the future, and that may be next season, but I've seen moments of panic from him when things aren't going his way that suggest that he's not going to be the same force next year. James on the other hand; such a competent, all-round player that I'm sure he'll be good next year. Even King will be decent for us. It's good to know that we're not going to have to make many changes to the spine of team and that could be critical if we go up.

dmayne7 Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Yes, but didn't you not want King dropped? Don't remember saying that. I'm a huge fan of King but I stated that Drinkwater deserved to be in the team and that this has probably been Andy King's worse season so have no qualms about Drinkwater and James starting together. Although the fact that we were in the automatics with Andy King in the team won't matter, will it? We've improved since then and Drinkwater and James have played very well together. I'm not even saying that Drinkwater will be bad next season just trying to make the point that he's not going to be as influential as we won't be winning the title next season. Let's not forget how fickle Leicester fans are...
Corky Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Fine. I think it's the area that won't need surgery during the summer if we get promoted, we have two very good players in there in James and Drinkwater with a very capable back up in Andy King.
Candidcamera Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 When we went up Muzzy was a winger and Lennon holding midfield but the influencial midfielder was Gary Parker. Drinkwater and James are as good as Lennon. Drinkwater has scored against the odds home to Watford and got the pen at Forest. He will be just as good in the Premiership. James is the engine and can himself score and take dead ball situations. The future looks good. In those days we didn't play with wingers but had 3 centre backs and two wing backs (defenders Guppy and Whitlow). No real comparison to me. But are Drinky and James good enough - yes they are.
Langston Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 They're both brilliant, the key for Drinkwater was maintaining some kind of consistency and he's definitely delivered in that regard, with James it always seemed to be a case of keeping him fit. That Andy King can't get a sniff at the minute is testament to how fantastic the pair of them are. I don't think it's ludicrous to state that they'll both play for England at some point.

Considering some players that have been called up, I think it's far from it. Sounds it at the minute with them never playing outside this level but no reason at all why neither can't one day.
Guest MattP Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 James could play for England, far better than Cleverly at his age. How good are they? Very very good. Certainly the last season either will have playing in the second tier.
FoxTrott Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 The fact Andy King, who has averaged just under 10 goals a season at his time with us whilst in the Championship, currently can't get even get a sub appearance speaks volumes.
