Drinkwater enjoying himself again?

Maybe he's "in the zone" whilst playing? Maybe he shuts everything out, bit like tunnel vision

I agree with people regarding his detachment from the fans but given some of the stick he had to take I don't blame him. Maybe it'll teach us to give our players a bit more time before labelling them as shit

Just a tgought

Might just be how he is. People read far too much into this sort if thing

Remember at the start of the season/end of last when the Merc released a list of players that Nige didn't want and Drinky was on there?

Was there any truth in that do you reckon? It seemed pretty strange at the time that he was on there, as the rest on the list were svens mistakes/has beens and overpaid players.

Thank god he didn't go if it was true, but can't help thinking that it cant have been?

No truth in it whatsoever. Just lazy journalism. Drinks was always going to be an integral part of the team that Pearson was building.

I'm glad he's adding goals to his game as well.

Yes, that shouldn't go unmentioned. I love Andy King and am a bit gutted he doesn't get a sniff anymore but I can see why. For one, his goals have dried up and without his goals he isn't in the same league as Drinkwater or James at bossing a midfield. Add the fact that Danny is now scoring a few goals and it's no surprise why Kingy is facing an uphill battle to get back in for us.

I think him, Marshall, Vardy, Gally, etc were part of a little mardy nothern contingent for a while who were pissed off with a small minority of our fans but that resulted in them being pissed off with all of us.

Drinky will easily get player of the season. But he needs to become more mature and accept that criticism will come his way when he isnt playing well. I have never slagged off any of our players on here or in the ground but i know our fans have a tendency to bash anyone, never mind someone who was playing as poor as Drinky at games like Derby away last season.

Credit to him for becoming such a great player this season and i'm sure he will become our leading player in the prem too.

Bloody northerners. Send them back to Watford.

If he was that focussed and in the zone while playing, he wouldn't be making a point to the fans after scoring earlier this season. Cupping his ears is the sign of a man with something on his mind.

Why would any of the starting 11 not be enjoying this season? Particularly a player like Drinkwater who has contributed so much and played so well throughout. Last season most of the criticisms of him were over the top but some were not wholly undeserved. This season however he has been fantastic and long may it continue.

Its his personality more than the relationship with the fans

Its the way he is - very serious character but an ultimate professional

Agree with this. A good character to have in the squad due to his determination. Don't think he dislikes the fans only sees them as annoying when he's playing. But we've been much fairer to him this year and he's built his relationship with us up.

I love Drinkwater. Him and James are by far the best midfield partnership in this league. They know each other's game inside out and compliment each other. I am really excited to see them play together in the PL (IF we go up  )

When he passed it out of play and he had a go at himself, I like that from players. Shows he cares and that he wants to be perfect with every ball he plays.

Player of the season for me. The best central midfielder in the division this season. However, he's not a particularly easy person to like off the pitch IMHO.

Discuss?

It's really ironic how before the season started, him and Vardy were arguably two of the biggest scapegoats at the club. Both started against Boro first game of the season and scored a goal each. Now look at the substantial improvements both players have made up to this point.

This season he has taken on that responsibility and really grown as a midfielder general, I have been very impressed with him, he has been exceptional this season and the transformation from last season is very much evident he is consistently producing top performances whereas as last season he was still learning.
