Stevosevic Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Firstly, what a great season he is having and my POTY. An observation from Saturday, when DD scored he celebrated with the fans for the first time this season, he usually just celebrates with his team mates. Is he enjoying Leicester again after what happened at Boro on the first day?
Ric Flair Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 What I can't fathom out is where he got the hump with us in the first place, he certainly wasn't given much stick in matches so he's either read snippets on the internet or he's bi-polar. Either way he's been sensational this season and I love the lad.
Captain... Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 He obviously wasn't having a good time of it at the end of last season, he wasn't playing well and neither were the rest of the team, and whilst you may not have heard any direct abuse, when you are playing badly and you hear the fans groaning all the time, but never cheering you, it will start to affect you. Remember last season we had individual fans directly abusing, Konchesky, Marshall and Pearson to the point at which they reacted at the ground, did you hear any of those comments? Gallagher got a lot of abuse on twitter. All of that is probably not going to make DD love our fans, maybe he is a good friend of Gally's as it was originally Gallagher who cupped his ears at the fans after scoring. Then something could have happened, whether it was some shit off a fan at the ground or out in Leicester or over the internet which crossed the line, it would be very easy for DD to think he we were all a bunch of a nobs as it happened far too frequently last season.
80footgiraffe Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I think the way he's playing, the way we've praised him recently he's bound to be happy. Really bothers me when a player is unhapoy at the club...
Bert Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 He got quite a lot of stick on here last season to be fair. Wasn't a fan of his cupping the ears because it was only a minority giving him jip. He's certainly proved the doubters/haters wrong this season and for me he has been our player if the season. Long may it continue as well.
Fox92 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Love Drinky, fantastic player. His partnership with James really is excellent and I'd like to see how they would get on in the Prem.
qwerty123 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Its his personality more than the relationship with the fans Its the way he is - very serious character but an ultimate professional There big things expected of him - hopefully he'll deliver next year if/when we are in the Prem
VLC86 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I was thinking the other day, Adam Lallana was clearly a class above the championship with Southampton. Is DD that much better than the other centre mids in the league? If we got promoted and he carried on this form and improvement he has the potential to do very well in his career, Hopefully with us in the prem! Obviously players with differing styles though
kingfox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 He has turned his game around, become better physically & has become way more consistent. It was no surprise that when he had his bad spell last season, we started losing games, purely because he is an instrumental part of the team. Now this season, he has basically controlled every single game we've played along with Matty James, the confidence is there as well as the understanding, and he is definitely enjoying his football. Long may it continue, because he is slowly impressing me
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 He'll be playing for England sooner or later and if he carries on the way he has this season then we'll be lucky to keep hold of him
foxfanazer Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Our most important player imo. Pulls the strings in most games and if he can add a few more goals to his game he really will be a good all round premier league midfielder. He's not particularly quick but his change of pace is really good and opens up a lot of space. Along with Vardy and Dyer he's been our player of the year. James is fantastic too
CosbehFox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I don't think ever seen him smile. Noticed on Saturday he attempted a great pass to Nugent, it was about 10% wrong and 90% perfection. The fans applauded it but he was going around shouting 'f**k' at himself.
Babylon Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I don't think ever seen him smile. Noticed on Saturday he attempted a great pass to Nugent, it was about 10% wrong and 90% perfection. The fans applauded it but he was going around shouting 'f**k' at himself. Not sure if it was the same one but he booted one straight out of play (100% shit ball ) and he went nuts at himself. I like to see that, Neil Lennon was a perfectionist similarly and demanded it from himself and others.

Aylestone Fox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Great to see him playing so consistently well, influences our play so much. And yet I know people who still think of him as pah, and not good enough,..CRAZZZY People,.!
sylofox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Check out the Boro match thread like he praps did. You won't have to read far try the first page and the second.
foxer Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Remember at the start of the season/end of last when the Merc released a list of players that Nige didn't want and Drinky was on there? Was there any truth in that do you reckon? It seemed pretty strange at the time that he was on there, as the rest on the list were svens mistakes/has beens and overpaid players. Thank god he didn't go if it was true, but can't help thinking that it cant have been?
Jonezy Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I been watching some of those tunnel cam things and he always looks so serious even after comfortable wins.

shade Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 he reminds me of dexter, i'm not saying he's a serial killer, but he definitely isn't an emotional guy. i like that in a sociopath! what was his celebration about though? it was like something out of the 1800's.
Danno Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 He never seems to be close to the fans like some other players do, like Knockaert. He always seems very detatched for some reason.
GingerrrFox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Drinkwater is a quality player as his performances have shown this season. He is straight from the Scholes/Pirlo mould as he dictates our play and everything goes through him. It's like he believes the ball is his and he just lets everybody else play with it for a bit and I love that. I think the whole detached from the fans stuff etc is because he probably see's us as a stepping stone onto bigger and better things. He is one of those players who is only gonna get better with age. I wouldn't be surprised to see him teams like Everton trying to snap him up in a few years. He would suit their game perfectly.
FoxTrott Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I love DD and would definitely agree he must a candidate for PoTY. That being said, I don't know if he really cares for the shirt he's in. He's an individual footballer and I reckon if a "bigger" club came in for him, he'd be off - no qualms and no second thoughts. His dead pan-ness reminds me of Scholes to be honest.
foxfanazer Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I agree with people regarding his detachment from the fans but given some of the stick he had to take I don't blame him. Maybe it'll teach us to give our players a bit more time before labelling them as shit Just a tgought
