LanguedocFox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 I just saw this: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/26442914. Ten thousand people have signed a petition calling for Cleverley not to be picked for the World Cup squad. Seems completely bizarre to me.
Tommeh Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 How embarrassing and Roy is spot on as per. Not saying Cleverly has been deserving of his spot recently but you got to love these on-line footie gaffers actually trying to have some influence on the game in their God awful lives.
breadandcheese Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 It's just damn right nasty and bullying by tens of thousands of people on a 24 year old player, who has never put a foot wrong for England.
Captain... Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Pathetic really, are other countries so ready to turn on their own so quickly? If anything it is going to make Hodgson more determined to take him.

I think it's just a joke tbh. It seems such a laughable decision by Hodgson so people are pretending to make a serious complaint against it, they'll know full well nothing's going to change.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 I havent signed it, its all a bit pathetic, however, the comment with the most likes on the petition i'll admit did have me laughing for quite a while!
kingcarr21 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Signed. Brings nothing unique to the squad. average in all areas. I hope im proved wrong and this petition spurs him on to improve his game.
Haydos Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Signed. Brings nothing unique to the squad. average in all areas. I hope im proved wrong and this petition spurs him on to improve his game. Seriously embarrassing.
Zapp Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Signing this makes it more likely that Roy will pick him. If only on principle to show it's his squad. If the fans can decide what players to pick based on the highlights they are fed by the media (who love a story), over Roy & the English set up then you might as well ditch the management system & just vote everything before & during the game on twitter.
Corky Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 All this will do is make people boo him when he touches the ball/ is brought on as sub. I don't rate him but this is a bit pointless, hopefully Roy will see if he doesn't bring enough to the team from now on.
Out Foxed Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 a perfect example of why we will always fail. if it's not the media being dicks, it's the fans.
Voll Blau Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 If we were on the continent, people who were that arsed about someone playing in their national team would be breaking into Wembley and digging a grave in the centre circle beneath a mock headstone with his name on. A fvcking petition? This country.
Guest MattP Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 A petition shows how polite the nation is here. I remember the Lazio Ultras breaking into the changing rooms at the end of the season to tell players and manager themselves who shouldn't turn up to play next year. Where is the one for Smalling and Welbeck as well? P.S Signed.
xHamzah Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 "My job goes under the radar at times. I'm not a player who's going to beat three or four people and stick it in the top corner or go around tacking people like Roy Keane."
Footballwipe Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 And people wonder why England players pull out and don't want to play for this country. If players are going to get treated like crap then where's the motivation? Some poor soul on here thinks it'll 'spur Tom' on. No mate, a motivational pep talk from experienced football managers and coaches will spur him on, not an online petition signed by ten thousand cvnts.
Bert Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Not in the Cleverley camp at all and he might have played less games but still. This also shows what a great season Henderson has had.

Ziggy1990 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Whilst a petition is a harsh and quite frankly pointless way expressing how people feel, it goes some way to identify how poor we are as a footballing nation. The lad is not deserving of a place in the national setup. If Roy chooses to pick him to prove a point, then he really is a goon. A poor side can only be a reflection of it's manager, surely.
sdb Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Wilshire's been very mediocre this season - where's his petition? In all seriousness, you have to worry about people who take time out to sign such a thing.
