Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Will we? I don't think we'll be any more likely to be relegated than the other two promoted clubs. Promoted teams are always the favourites to get relegated
Guest kristianity77 Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Next season will be tough if we get promoted We will be favourites to go straight back down I think we should just enjoy it no matter what happens, we need to be realistic I dont think we would be out and out favourites to go straight back down at all. If Burnley came up with us surely we would have better odds than them. And perhaps better odds than whoever came up from the playoffs. If we actually went up i'd be quite surprised if we went down straight away. I think with a few shrewd signings over the summer we would have enough to maybe be bottom 6, but no worse than that. Will be tight though.
Corky Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Promoted teams are always the favourites to get relegated If we win the league comfortably we'll be ahead of the two promoted below us in the betting.
Harry - LCFC Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Promoted teams are always the favourites to get relegated Right, it's just that you said we'd be favourites to get relegated out of the three promoted teams which I didn't agree with.
MrSpaM Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Bellamy's a poor example. He's a winner on the pitch. Thats the point im trying to make, CB was insane in the championship, and they relied on him way too much to get results. We haven't just got individuals doing well, it's pretty much the whole squad, which is why I reckon we'll be better off should we get promoted. We've got a team here that could compete in the PL, when cardiff went up they didn't have that imo.
Muzzy Innit Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Now living in the US, so for selfish reasons I'd take it. I wouldn't enjoy the games, but at least I'd see them. Like a few have said, don't think the Cardiff comparison will ever be completely apt because they're a shadow of their former selves due to ownership forces. Nobody wants to go up to be a laughingstock.

Leicesterpool Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 I can see Leicester being the next swansea! If we play the way we do in the championship we'll do just fine, Top ten here we come!
Captain... Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 If we had the same results as Cardiff this season at this stage, I would still enjoy each game, and savour every point, they are still in the fight for survival, and if we had Nigel in charge and the core of this squad improving and fighting for every point I would enjoy it. Everything else that has gone on at Cardiff would make me want to eat my own face and shit it out all over my dog. I can take losing, it is that fvckwit Tan that is a skidmark on English football.
Mark_from_USA Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Historically Leicester have spent half their club life in the top tier. I don't see them just scratching their way in and then dropping back out. They are big enough and well run enough that I expect they to put in a decent spell this time around. Their playing squad is well positioned to succeed, they have PL quality in several positions, and their infrastructure is top rate. Their owners won't try to do it on the cheap. To sum up, its time for Leicester to get back where they should be. I would be shocked if they were anything like the shambles that is Cardiff this year. But, if they struggle, I will support them anyway.
Mack Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 I honestly don't think we'll ever be in that situation. Cardiff have made some seriously dumb decisions this season and will get what they deserve... relegation. Our owners, Manager and staff are much more astute. In addition we have a much better more united group of players far more capable of making a better impression in the Premier League.
LanguedocFox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 I can guarantee that if we lost our first 8 games of next season everyone on here would be saying Pearson out. We only have 30 games left to stay up. Not having all this patience thing. It's okay saying it now but when it comes to it you would all be saying he isnt a premiership manager and we want an experienced man in to keep us up. Don't include me in that. I don't for one moment think we will lose our first eight games, but if we do, it will only be by the odd goal - like it was when we had that not-very-good run last year. And I will not be calling for Pearson's head: he's far and away the best manager in the Championship, and he's proved it consistently over the past five years. In the Premiership, he will be better than at least a third of the managers currently there. And finally, if we go down next season, there is no-one better placed to bring us straight back up.

Bang on and couldn't agree more (apart from the bit about shitting my own face all over my dog).
hairy Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 It couldn't be any worse than last time we were there. We broke the record for least number of points which was then beaten by Derby the next season.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 We certainly have a better squad now than we did the last time we got promoted
Vlad the Fox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 I'd drink more before the match. And a lot more after.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 From the evidence of last season, the Thais are much more patient than Tan. When we were having that fairly bad but not disastrous run it would have been very easy to sack Pearson and put in someone else. Would have been disastrous, but - if they were like some owners - unsurprising. I honestly think - and hope - that even if we spend next season fighting against relegation, that they maintain that faith in Pearson. I know I will. Enjoy it? Well, I've been there, done that too many times to recall, and I've never enjoyed it - great when you escape though. Spot on...
Guest Bilo Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Playing in a nobhead dictator's favourite colour, embarrassed by his actions all season, sacked the manager who got you there to replace him with someone with zero experience managing in England, spending millions on players, getting slapped 0-4 by Hull. A categorical no. I would take staying down over doing what they've done. Their fans were happy to accept the red shirts for financial stability and a shot at the Premier League. They're now rock bottom and find themselves a national laughing stock with a squad that's arguably no stronger than the one that got promoted, only considerably more expensive. When you dance with the devil....
Long Eaton Fox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 It's not just watching Leicester in the prem. I want to see Rooney, Wilshire, Gerard, Aguero in the flesh. The best league and the best players.
The Doctor Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 It couldn't be any worse than last time we were there. We broke the record for least number of points which was then beaten by Derby the next season. Fairly certain we didn't... We weren't up the season before Derby's 11-point season, last time we were up we finished on 33(?) points.

They're now rock bottom and find themselves a national laughing stock with a squad that's arguably no stronger than the one that got promoted, only considerably more expensive. When you dance with the devil.... If anything it just reflected how small-time they really are and how laughable this whole 'sleeping giants' crap really was. Even if the red shirts didn't bother you directly (would be weird), would you really have faith in the long term with someone who is happy to piss off the majority of their fanbase, and for what? I feel a great sense of satisfaction seeing it all go tits up at Cardiff, QPR & Forest. It makes it all this season all the sweeter.
Corky Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 Fairly certain we didn't... We weren't up the season before Derby's 11-point season, last time we were up we finished on 33(?) points. Loads of teams have had lower points totals than us- our lowest was 28 in 2002 and plenty haven't even managed that (Ipswich, Sunderland twice, Derby, Bradford, Watford twice, Wolves, Portsmouth, West Brom, QPR last season).
surrifox Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 All? ...more like the same people who usually do it. Correct although 8 games!? The match day thread is full of contributors (they know who they are) who go into meltdown every time the opposition score let alone the side lose I would hope the owners keep faith with NP whatever the outcome . I wonder whether WBA are reflecting on the wisdom of appointing Pepe Mel (who?) and all the nonsense at Fulham and Cardiff just makes the point
LCCFox96 Posted 6 March 2014 Posted 6 March 2014 I don't like Cardiff City. I never have done. But you have to feel for their fans. Years of waiting and hard work has crumbled in 1 season. Tan is answerable for most of the devastation there. Our owners aren't like him so we won't experience such turmoil. If we can keep decent league form then we won't be looking like Cardiff if we go up. One a comical note I'd be gutted if we signed Odemwingie (attitude is a disgrace) and even more disillusioned to have swapped him for Kenwyne Jones (whose attitude and football also wins few admirers) six months later. Shambles.
