Number 6 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Much prefer him to Konch. Feel PK is just too Wasteful in possession. Not expecting anything miraculous of him but finding a blue shirt would be good. This is Jeff's Premier League audition for me. We won't be starting Konch there next season.
Jobyfox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 The modern full back tends to be a player with pace and is an attacking outlet, especially with many teams moving away from 4-4-2. From what I've seen JS has great potential in that position. I can't see him ever being a great striker or winger and would sooner see him develop the defensive side of his game. Then again, last season I thought that Vardy should be loaned out to a Division One club because Championship was too big a step.
Father Ted Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 In the past, Jeff has been brilliant at left back, one dodgy game then dropped again. We must stick by him even if he has one sticky game soon, or how will he learn from his mistakes, his confidence would just get blown back again. Jeff > Konch
Grewks Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Playing well. But was he really tested against ipswich, charlton and Barnsley? I think anyone on this forum couldv'e played there and we would still of won.
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Playing well. But was he really tested against ipswich, charlton and Barnsley? I think anyone on this forum couldv'e played there and we would still of won. I agree. Still very undecided on Schlupp at LB, he's played well a number of times but he's had a lot of shaky moments too - more often than you'd expect players to have normally. I feel he's getting better playing at the back but Konchesky is still my first choice.
veezeeblue Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I kind agree with those here that say he´s not been properly tested at LB. I see him as a out and out Winger but there is defnitely potential there. Also I am not sure about his finished abilities. I would not start him against a good attacking side instead of Konch, dont believe we want to risk it this weekend. Let´s guarantee promotion first, then test him more.
J.Lisemore Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Its without doubt that for the sake of his footballing career, he needs to focus on being a left back or a left winger.
Crinklyfox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 NP's winning formula has been to keep a winning team together. So I expect him to start against Blackpool. He can only improve with more games, who knows how far he can go?
Finnegan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I'm sure people were saying something similar about Vardy, Schlupp hasn't had half the chance up front Vardy got LAST season yet people have already made up their mindsI can't say I ever said the same about Vardy. I'm not going to do a Col and pretend I saw his rise coming but I alway felt he offered something due to his willingness to run, his pace and his movement. Even last year he created a lot of chances for everyone else in our good spell through his endeavour.Schlupp in the striker role is a headless chicken that can't finish his dinner. Much better attacking from the space out wide where he can just De Laet past people instead of relying on any nouse.
foxfanazer Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 He should keep his place over Konchesky. I'll be honest I had written him off for City and although the opposition he's faced have been poor he has looked really assured. Well done Schluppy
Leicester_Numan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 After 3 comprehensive victories against 3 very poor teams, the defensive question mark still hangs over Schlupp and Mahrez/Knockaert but you can't really change that starting 11, they've done nothing to deserve being dropped. The sooner we come up against a team that gives those 3 players a bit of a defensive workout the better. We don't want to go to Burnley and find out in dramatic fashion that we can be torn to pieces down the left
Dwayne Dibley Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 3 clean sheets is a great achievement, regardless of the oppo. He stays in the team for me.

What.. so now you take the piss because I said I saw real potential in both Vardy and Schlupp and said I'd like to see the latter played more, earlier in the season and that Vardy had a lot more to offer?Thats not 'pretending'..that's what I wrote. Be quiet 'Finners'. You know I don't rate you as highly as many do.
Thracian Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Yes. Schlupp is a potentially excellent left back. Pearson was a potentially excellent manager not so long back and has clearly learned from experience and various setbacks. Vardy has been the same as a striker. Schlupp makes three in that he has all the raw materials to be an outstandiing left-back, not least his blistering pace. As a striker or specialist winger I've never been quite convinced but his better-than-average capabilities in both departments only add to his potential as a positive, attack-supporting full-back. People mention Schlupp's positioning but that comes with experience and of getting to know opponents and the opposition's style of play. It's not something that comes ready made. Even guys who read the game naturallly are caught out by different individuals, by the combination of different players or by the challenge of chance. The more you play the more you see and the more you cover different possibilities. Schlupp will only get that through experience but no team gets three clean sheets just by being lucky and Schlupp has shown himself capable both defensively and in supporting what is an extremely swift attack.

Happy Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 The primary focus for Schlupp should be to establish himself and stay in the first team he has a great opportunity to do this as a LWB.
jamfox Posted 22 March 2014 Author Posted 22 March 2014 Just watched the stream, Jeff. I rest my case.
pazzerfox Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 He had a great game...De leat wasn't up to his usual high standards.
