CosbehFox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Anyone considered he's just had his second child? Mind probably on that and tired as a result

Not sure if I am imagining this, but I could have sworn that his performances fell off a little when he had his first child last season. With Afcon approaching, small kids and the team not really performing, its not surprising that he isn't 100%. We'll miss him when he is gone for a few weeks.

He was dropped for the Norwich and Southampton games. On the morning of the Southampton game, he joined the players as there was complications and his first child was born early.
The whole world smiles Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Last week it was Slimani and albrightons turn for the brain dead morons to criticise this week it's Marhez's. Why can't people just shut up whining and moaning appreciate that we are going through the greatest era in our history and get behind all the players and the manager every week. It really is very boring. I don't even come on foxestalk after a defeat because I can't stomach most of the reactionary and negative nobs who could write down everything they know about football on the back of a postage stamp. I know he is somewhat out of form but it's an honour to have a player like mahrez at my football club.

dynamark Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 His brother is in nationality and religion nothing more. Keep him in behind the striker maximum possession and send someone to pick him up if hes late !

But all that scowling and shaking would hardly have been about one mistake - would it? And all the world sees the reaction - which leaves him open to the interpretation and criticism which I, for one, have levelled at him. As to him being upset about Feghouli not making the Algerian squad - it's a little too fanciful for me. Interesting that he refers to Slimani as his brother - in religion or in nationality, possibly. I don't find that endearing - it makes a statement about those he doesn't consider special.
MattCan Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 On a cheerful note, the reputed Spanish newspaper MARCA published their TOP 100 football players for 2016. Mahrez and Vardy were highly rated at the 7th and 11th spots respectively. It is noteworthy that the 6 first spots all went to Barca-Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid players. WOW. Just WOW.

During all my tenure here in this forum, I have always been an avid reader of your posts. I have found them very stimulating and substantial with solid foundations, whether I agreed or not. This is why you find me very surprised by the above statement. I'm sure your statement is not based on any prejudice or hostile intent. Nonetheless, as you state in your post above, this statement leaves you open to the interpretation and criticism which some readers can level at you. We already live in a divided world as it is. Let's do our best not to get dragged into that. I hope you don't find this replay upsetting and I really apologize in advance if you do.

Guest the fox Posted 4 January 2017 Posted 4 January 2017 12 hours ago, Gerbold said: Whatever your first picture meant is lost on me and as for clutching at straws - what the hell are you getting at? I like Mahrez - I don't like partisan statements. I have no hidden agenda. Why niot stop being a smart arse and try to use words to explain exactly what you mean? OK. what I said and what 4 other people agreed with me is that fact That you are holding it against mahrez for calling slimani brother and that is just beyond laughable. It is just outrageous. You said " Interesting that he refers to Slimani as his brother - in religion or in nationality, possibly. I don't find that endearing - it makes a statement about those he doesn't consider special." which implies that mahrez is insulting or not liking the people that he doesn't call "brother". Slimani and mahrez have the same language and religion. They play for the same national and professional team. They both where being told that they are not good enough to make it in the professional level. And they seem to be good friends. The only thing that separates them is the blood and last name. They share more similarities than actual blood brothers and mahrez has the right to call him brother. Edit: I have seen you replie to mattcan, and your point about mahrez not calling oka and vardy "brother" Should have been obvious. They don't seem to share any major similarities apart from playing for the same team. They come from deferent backgrounds, they play for deferent national teams. They have deferent religion and language. And they don't seem to have the same personality. I don't think you are racist. But, I think you think that mahrez is racist. Or at least he doesn't think that he and them are equals and I don't hold that against you. You seem to be hurt by your past a lot. And I can tell you for a fact that it is not a country or a religion issue. Just look to some of his videos with his former team. They (oka and vardy) just share very few similarities to have a strong relationship that's all.

That, I consider facile and puerile, A team is a team - my 'beef' was what I saw as a 'clique-ness' evidenced by Mahrez. Has he ever referred to Vardy, Okazaki or Ulloa as his 'brother' on the scoring of a goal? This was the point I was making - not some anti-African or anti-Algerian or anti-North African - nor indeed some anti-Islamicist barb reflecting some hitherto hidden evil lurking within my soul. A lot of talk went on last year about the squad being a 'band of brothers' fighting for each other. It just seemed to me that his response indicated that he regarded Slimani as different to the other guys. Of course professional team sport is unique as a living - because it calls for camaraderie with people one might dislike on an individual basis. The one aspect that gladdened my City heart was the manner in which individuals' egos were put aside in order to win the title. I respect you too, MattCan, yet in this instance you are seizing, however guardedly and however reluctantly, on a post that certainly was not racist in intent. This is all very redolent of the hyper-sensitivity of the times. If you knew my background you could be assured that I understand the inherent nasty nature of racism and I will assure you that I endeavour to treat everyone as an equal. However I grew up in a totally white culture where casual racism was accepted, just as casual sexism and homophobia were acceptable. Re-educating oneself is a lengthy and complex process requiring patience and huge objectivity and is painful because one learns that the world one lived in was actually made quite ghastly by the twisted morés of the time. This is actually quite difficult to address but I'm willing to respond to/discuss any serious and sensible query or point about my post. Thanks. The only point I really wanted to stress in my post was that some readers might misinterpret (unfairly to you) your last sentence, which I have highlighted. Since, you have then explained your point very clearly and to a great extent. On this, I would like to close this parenthesis and thank you for your understanding.

brucey Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 http://newafricanmagazine.com/mahrez-algerias-new-talisman/ Despite his amazing success, football has not changed the lithe winger. That is what makes Mahrez so likeable – he does not seem to understand just how big a deal he has become. “You should see him with the national team,” said Amir Karaoui, his Algeria teammate. “He sits slouched with his hood over his ears and eats Nutella with a spoon.” “He eats nothing at dinner,” says goalkeeper Raïs M’Bolhi. “In the evening he will just put some Parmesan on bread. Then he heads back to his room and the entire night, he’ll eat chocolate.” Ian Stringer, a BBC Radio Leicester journalist, has a similar tale, after Mahrez “crucified” Chelsea at the King Power Stadium in December 2015. “Just after the match, he was spotted in a local restaurant, eating fries and mayonnaise. Pressure? What…”

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 Mahrez used to love TJ's on the High St, a gaff unfortunately no longer with us. The best chicken shish in the country bar none and we didn't even get the chance to say goodbye to Jimmy the owner. If you read this Jimmy, I know at least ten people that use or have used this forum in the past that'd happily buy you several bevs. Las Vegas Fish Bar are lapping it up and quite frankly they charge champagne prices for lemonade scran, absolute garbage.
Guest Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 The world's 7th best player plays for leicester. Jesus christ. Yes he isn't in great form but my the lad can play. Get off his back and stop complaining! A day will come when he no longer plays for us and we'll all be wishing he still did. Let's just enjoy him for s long as we can and hope he chooses to make it a long stay!
Guest the fox Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 It is almost as if he was not the problem. People are fast to criticize him but in his worst day he could take away 2 players from the other team. Alonso had a great game because he was not worried about Albrighton and Drinkwater. Believe me. You won't know the value of a person until he is gone
