It is almost as if he was not the problem. People are fast to criticize him but in his worst day he could take away 2 players from the other team. Alonso had a great game because he was not worried about Albrighton and Drinkwater. Believe me. You won't know the value of a person until he is gone

If you know anything about football, whatsoever, you'd know he never is, or was, the problem. He's our only creative player in the team. The only player with much skill, guile, creativity. He's been hamstrung by playing with dross, pretty much. And that's why I'm sure he'll want out in the summer. He's better than this team.

That said, he's not individually performed well this season. None of them have.

He is still the only creative flair player we have, when on form he is worth the entrance money alone.

Once he goes ones who call him will realise without him how limited our squad is at creating chances.

Grey has that little spark in him when he has the ball at his feet, but we don't see him enough.

The rest of the midfield especially central all seem to similar which is short pass and stay back.

Attacking CM is what we have been trying out for and still don't have.

It looks like we've filled the midfield with three players all of the same ilk. Athletic, run around, little going forward. However, I have a much better feeling about Ndidi than the other two. He looks to have a bit about him, skill wise.

Ive said this all season. Why on earth have the club bought strikers, yet no one to supply them? It's bizarre club management, as is sticking with Huth and Morgan, seemingly just hoping they recreate last season.

It does seem that way that they have the same skill set.

Ndidi does look to have a little more about him, but I'm thinking is it more because the others are so limited?

I think we have made fundimental errors.

An ageing backline, who's starting spots are guaranteed as the cover we have is championship level or have little experience.

Scoring wasn't our problem last season yet spend over 40m on 2 gambles which could be more miss than hit, where does Oka,Ulloa fit now?

Midfield is overloaded with a lot of similar players, Grey needs a run of games to show the talent he has yet gets a small slot when the game is lost.

Id have him on one wing and Mahrez on the other. Both happy with the ball at their feet, will run at players and can find a pass.

We have a couple of weeks to get the right players in to try and freshen the squad and galvanise the players we have for them to realise they need to up their game as their starting spot isn't guaranteed.

Seems to have as bad a diet as Vardy...  Seriously won't help them on the pitch in the long-term. There is a reason why individual professionals and teams have nutritionists.

The fitness coaches said they allowed Vardy a can of redbull (and a drink was it?!) before each game. Before the switch, Ranieri said that he couldn't change from 4-4-2 as the players didn't want to. It's like the players are running the team now...

Mahrez played today like he had a chip on his shoulder, and I loved it. And those two 50 yard balls that he killed with his world class first touch:blush::blush:. I love this riyad. He gives me hope that we can win football games in just 25 minutes. More of this pls.

Made me laugh when he was running through the middle at the end and looked right expecting to see a full back overlapping and then remembered he has bloody danny simpson behind him.

What a player, just on and kills a 50 yard pass with his knee like someones thrown it to him from a yard away. I love the man.

I was thinking the same thing. Just a shame we have the only full back in the country that is scared to pass the half way line.

Thought he a Drinky were clicking again this evening. Would be good to see them back to their best on Tuesday night but play Mendy or Ndidi alongside Drinky.

He looked up for it when he came on.

If we don't get an attack minded RB that can help create space for Mahrez, I'd like to see him played at CAM, where he played Vs West Ham & keep Albrighton RW. Mahrez will get a lot more freedom and will encourage our players to play to feet with him in the center.

Really hope it wasn't just a glimpse and he's wanting to turn up. Seemed more lively today. His first touch is still pure porn.

In a game where we can boss possession, a technical wizard like Mahrez naturally shines. When he inevitably leaves us to play for a heavy possession based team, he will go up another level.

He is lazy so could raise his game even further, but a good coach will get it out of him.

Honestly there is a lot of argument to say we should build the team around Mahrez, but he's not yet convinced in a number 10 position and I don't think he has the maturity to do it yet.

Its been a season and a half and Claudio still doesn't think to bring an attack minded RB to get the best out of mahrez.

Right up at Burnley we need to sign the little magicians name all night. As others have said he'll be gone before long, and we will look back wistfully at his genius.

Sing his name loud and proud. Let him feel the love. Inspire him to inspire us

I find a lot of his dribbles very predictable now and I think defenders do too. He wants to cut in on his left time and time again and it is becoming easy for defenders to read it and get the tackle in.

The part of his game that is still so useful to us though, are his through balls. He played about 3-4 lovely weighted passes through their defence late on and we could have scored from them.

It's the type of ball Vardy thrived on all last season, and something we have been sorely missing, with hoof balls being our only idea on how to attack recently.

I thought he showed good energy and desire and I'm looking forward to having him and Slimani back.

He's got more technique in his left bollock than half our team combined. He just casually kills a 50 yard pass with a delicate first touch. Some of his first touches give me a hard on.

If only we had an overlapping RB.

I also think it's worth trying him through the middle again. Last time we did was 18 months ago against Southampton. It's worth trying again.

He looked relaxed and inventive tonight and was so unlucky not to finish with an assist.

He also linked his play with the team and was so much better for it.

Man of the Match for me.

Posted

he was too good to play for us when we won the league it's mental that he stayed with this bunch of clowns

To think last week I had to comment on a thread that said should we have sold mahrez.

He is 10 levels above every single one of our players. Keep the ball like we did second half and he will do amazing things for us. Simple

There'll always be talk about him being sold on in the summer, no doubt will resurface again once the season finishes.

Never know. PL safety assured, maybe he will stay with us for the foreseeable future.

Positive rapport with the fans, seemingly happy family life.

How many of the "big" teams would put up with his laid-back lifestyle, whose players are expected to be the ultimate professional?

Anyhow, today showed he's still our best player by a long way.
