Put that lad in a possession footy team such as the arse or Mancity, i would bet my left nut that he would be a star. His performance against ManCity proved that he is still world-class; but when our team is outplayed, the way we are set-up, he just make hardly any impact. Hell, even Messi would have a blinder out there, being wasted on defensive duties, triple marked and with poor service most of the time close to our own box.

For the 4-4-2 to work, everyone in the midfield has to be solid defensively. Only Drinkwater & Albrighton (and possibly Mendy) are good enough defensively. That's why the defence has leaked so many goals, the protection infront of them has been piss poor. We need to buy another defensive winger in January and set up like this: Albrighton, Drinkwater, Mendy, New winger Then let Mahrez compete for the no.10role with Okazaki & Ulloa when he returns from AFCON.

MurphyMagic Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 I cannot believe people can criticise Mahrez. He is the best player I have ever seen play for Leicester in my 28 years. If he is available he should play every game, who cares if he doesn't always train hard he can win us a game single handedly. The fact that we only have him for a couple more games until the AFCON and he was available for selection and wasn't starting was criminal.

The problem we have is he is being used wrongly and we lack the quality to get the best from him. He's much stronger than last year. Just watch how he doesn't get knocked off the Ball as easily. It doesn't help either by the way he's cut adrift out on the Wing alone, where he has to face players doubled up on him. Also by expecting him to track back it takes away energy he could use to get past defenders. I just cannot understand why we don't play Albrighton behind him to provide support and essentially do the Donkey work. This would allow Mahrez to do his magic and provide a better end result.

Or skin world class players like the goal against Chelsea. Or an amazing run fallowed with a screamer like the goal against city. Love it or hate it, he is better then us. He is better then any player on Liverpool but, they are having a better season then him. It is called prospective. Playing with world class players and championship level player is not the same.
