FA set to reject Hull City's name change

The thing I haven't understood throughout is that Allam wants to change the bane to make it more marketable, yet one of the things that draws people into English football is the history and tradition of the clubs, of which the name is part. Surely, by changing the name, he's make it more like a sports franchise, thus removing that factor? By changing the name to make it more marketable is he not, in fact, making it less marketable?

Either way, well done FA (if this is confirmed).

He just wants to assert his own authority.

People are quick to jump down the throats of those who criticise the business side of things like this but fail to take into account that we're just eroding whatever we have unique about ourselves. English football's turning shit because we're selling anything good about it.

Let the **** walk out of Hull with the hump and a huge dent in his wallet.

He wont have a huge dent in his wallet. He could walk away leaving the club owing him millions and be able to force them into administration.

We seem to be forgetting that Mandric wanted to market us around the world as 'The Foxes' to make us more marketable. Thanks **** he ****ed off!

Should we not see Cardiff fans kick off majorly about this? Where was this 'Fa Committee' to stop Tan changing their kit?

There was no huge popular uprising from Cardiff fans over this in the first place. The fact a madman is slowly killing their club is their own fault.

Credit to the Hull fans who fought this.

Hull have put Cardiff to shame to be honest. Cardiff's 'protests' were an embarrassment.

Reiterating the comments above, credit to Hull, at least they put up a fight. Cardiff, I would love to see them fly down the leagues. For me personally, I'd put Cardiff above Derby on my hate list. Horrible club and absolutely nothing likeable about them.

I would've liked to be Leicester Fosse. Great uniqueness about it - something we don't have enough of in my opinion.

Me too.

Would have been a great way to have something completely our own and connect with our history as well.

I bet most of our support comes from the shire rather than the city now as well.

cant see this one going away very quickly

Hull City accuse FA of prejudice in rejecting request to change club name to Hull Tigers #SSN

lol

Here we go, they'll somehow find a way to make this a racist and homophobic incident?.

To be fair to Cardiff we were lucky that there is a pre existing FA ruling that has given us a chance to form a solid campaign. Unfortunately there is no such rule to prevent a colours change. Without that rule we could have kicked and screamed all we liked, the mad old bastard would have forced it through regardless.

The FA can hopefully build on this and establish a constitution to treat the identity of our clubs more like you would treat listed buildings. Thus, protecting them from the whims of owners.

PREJUDICE lol

The saddest thing is these twats won't even get laughed off like they should be.

Cov fans are pretty miffed about this and to be fair, I can see why. It isn't fair - and it isn't like Coventry fans have fed the beast either.

Cardiff's whole 'project' has gone up in flames and they're learning the hard way. I will be livid if they somehow stay up.

lol I can't believe this guy is for real.

He also thinks a load of Hull fans are going to come out in support of the name change now lol What an absolute nutcase.

It would have been stupid to change to Fosse. All of the great moments of our history have been with us as City, Fosse was merely a starting point. Just as playing at Victoria Park or having a black kit was.

We are known around Leicester as 'the Citeh'.

Besides, who cares who else is called City? We're the only Leicester City and they're the only City I give a shit about. The rest can fvck off.

This, always thought it was a good name. Had I been old enough at the time I would've voted Fosse.

The @NoToHullTigers account has 6500 followers. It's probably fair to assume that half of them (or more) are Hull City fans and are care enough about the issue to vote on it.

Have to say I'm extremely suspicious about this.

I fail to believe those results for one second.

Lets see him publish those results and the names of people who voted yes and no, then see how legitimate it is.

Only season ticket holders could vote and a lot of the followers to that twitter account are predominately followers of football in general.

However, I too am extremely suspicious.

Shame on the 2/3rds who couldn't be bothered if it is true though. I just hope the FA sees sense on Wednesday.

If the result is true, and the only fans bothered to vote just shaded it to support the idea,

then that club is a complete embarrassment to the world of football,

and that's without them doing that crap tiger chant! Football doesn't need owners like that!  :trumpet:

Of the total eligible voters, 17% voted for the change, 16.7% against. I trust the FA reject the proposal as virtually no majority amongst the Hull fans (sorry, season ticket holders) to reject the change. Even among those who voted, the percentage in favour is less than 1% (43.67/42.85%).

Not, in my opinion, a sufficient endorsement to agree to the change. If they do, I'm worried this may be the first step towards franchised clubs.
