dorsetboy Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 just browsing and noticed the following the last 3 years winners of the championship qpr now championship reading now championship cardiff soon to be championship teams that went up as runners up norwich southampton hull all still in the prem and doing ok so second will do me
One Legged Beaver Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 I'd say we are better equipped than any of those three teams that won the league in fairness. QPR - Were a one man team with a solid defence but that one man was distinctly average in the Prem. Some shocking player scouting, managerial choices and a chairmen who didn't have a clue about football as well. Reading - Didn't invest after promotion and suffered the consequences. Cardiff - Didn't have any goalscorers in the team are just grinded out wins in the championship which is hard to replicate in the Prem, not to mention psychotic management of the club.
Beliall Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 i dont want us to be remembered as the team that blew an 11 point lead
Callabinho Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 You make your own fate, I want to win the league.
suffolk fox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 If you look at the last ten years apart from Newcastle teams that win the championship tend to struggle in the Premiership. I don't know why that is complacency perhaps? I am not bothered at all, as long as we get promotion whether that be in first or second place.
Dan Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 I cannot believe anyone would rather come 2nd on that basis. There is absolutely nothing to it. 100% co-incidence.
Socks Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 i want us to come 1st I want us to go to Burnley and play our socks off with passion and go for the win, if we lose after playing like that then no probs, although would settle for a point if we play like we did against Yeovil i will be pissed off as well get battered
iamafox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 There will be an element of disappointment if we end up being 2nd, having been top of the league for 3 months. I want us to finish the season strongly, that means winning the league.
Harry - LCFC Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 It's like when people say we kept losing to teams in red before the international break, therefore there must be a link! You'd find some pretty ridiculous reasons to explain certain things if you always assumed that two things rising together are correlated.
HEGGSY Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 We'll be your champions we'll be your champions We'll be your champions!! Yeah. I wanna win the league
Jimothy Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Hull are classed as still there? The seasons not over yet!!!
The Doctor Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Newcastle Reading the first time round, Wolves lasted up there for a couple of seasons, Sunderland in 2006/2007, Pompey in 2003. Or conversely Sunderland 2004/2005 vs Wigan, Stoke & WBA in 2007/2008... There's no correlation between staying-up and which automatic slot you take. This is a ridiculous thread. Now then, what would you prefer - no actual guarantee of staying up and blowing an 11 point lead and missing out on going level with Man City on number of 2nd tier titles won (as it stands Man City have won the most, 1 more than us) or winning the title for the first time in 34 years?
fuchsntf Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Mmmm why I also want us to come second..........mmmmnaaaaaay........ Arrrrrrrrrrr Sorry cant find one good reason.
maynefox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 err no,We've been top for so long in this league I want to win it, so the history of 'past winners' will read 'Leicester City 2013/14'. Don't get me wrong I want to go up and if we do as second then fair enough. I would like us to win a trophy though.
LanguedocFox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Fvck that for a game of soldiers. I want us to win all nine games between here and the end of the season, and end up with 111 points. Then we'll see who struggles next season.
purpleronnie Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Coming 2nd would be a huge kick in the nuts. Let's win this thang!
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Why can't we win the league and then just buck the trend? Be one of those title winning clubs who then go on to do well in the Prem? That'd be best.

qwerty123 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Promotion is the target. Forget everything else until it's secured I'd take 2nd at the drop of a hat
Fox92 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 It just a coincidence... A team is not going to do the same just because they've won the league. QPR signed 13 or 14 players which was stupid. Players that didn't care that much either. Nige won't do that. Cardiff have all their stupid problems, though Malky was giving the PL a good shot. Reading the first time overachieved, as have other clubs that have failed to been mentioned in the OP. I'd rather us win the League. Even more when you consider we were 10 or 11 points clear.
shailen Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 This is ridiculous, stats like these have no meaning. It's not because a team finished first does it imply they will be relegated the following season. If that logic held teams would want to finish second. Every team is on a level playing field as others after promotion and so where the club finished has no effect on it's performance the following season.
suffolk fox Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Hull are classed as still there? The seasons not over yet!!! Hull will stay up. Promotion is the target. Forget everything else until it's secured I'd take 2nd at the drop of a hat Well said sir!
