Captain... Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You should call the league and let them know we are promoted then, as they haven't put a P next to our name... if only they knew all if took was for you to think we are up. Wish you would make you mind up with your comparisons. There won't be a pitch invasion against Wednesday, as we can't even get promoted whilst playing them. I also very much doubt there will be one at all at any point... unless it comes down the the wire or we score a late goal that means we are promoted etc. 2 different comparisons for 2 different situations, read it back. Now cheer up you grumpy bugger, I know it is Monday morning but after this weekend we should all be going to work with a smile on our faces.
4ever and ever Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'd love it to happen at home to Brighton but I've had a vision: sometimes these things in football are just written and fated to happen. The person who scores the goal that will send us back to the Premiership is: This! Perhaps a new verse could be added to the song?
Babylon Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 We just aren't promoted until it's mathematically done and dusted. The vast majority on here were telling me we wouldn't make the playoffs last season, that it would take and amazing run of results in our games and others to achieve it, people had given up. And as I'm doing now, I said well it's not over until it's over no matter how unlikely.
CosbehFox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Hope the players take the applause and walk off. People are forgetting we have a difficult game in Wigan first before we play a bogey side.
Kitchandro Posted 31 March 2014 Author Posted 31 March 2014 I bet that by the end of the season we will look back and see that we achieved the points needed for promotion a few games ago, there has been no doubt in my mind that we were going up since the end of Feb, we all know right now that we are going up and nothing can stop us. I'm not saying don't celebrate, but really we have strolled this league and celebrating with a pitch invasion when we are still chasing the title is like Liverpool celebrating with a pitch invasion when they qualify for the champions league. Get on the pitch when the season is over when the title is ours if you want, but lets not be premature, would you want to see the players out getting shit faced and doing an open top bus tour with the Brighton game a few days later? No because the season isn't over. @Kitch no problem with the thread, of course we should celebrate getting promoted, it's the talk of pitch invasions against Wednesday that I find a bit sad. The aim is promotion first and foremost. Winning the title is nice but it's not worth invading the pitch for, being promoted to the Premiership for the first time in 10 years is, IMO, and I think most football fans would appreciate that, and not think it sad. Winning the Championship title is meaningless compared to being promoted or winning the Premiership title. I started the thread because I wondered how other people viewed the situation. I understand people saying they want to have a match where we treat it as 'the' promotion game, like a sort of cup final occasion, and I also understand people saying that they aren't going to celebrate and there's no point until there's a 'P' next to our name.

But doing it as we have done, it has been pretty much a certainty for a while, didn't some bookies pay out a few weeks? I don't think we are going to get a Steve Howard header moment this season (not that there was a pitch invasion then, and it didn't guarantee promotion), but that was the moment it, in the penultimate home match then the following home match we confirmed the title and got to celebrate. That was the moment to pitch invade as it was an incredible moment after a massive last minute goal. On Friday even if we win both our coming games there will still be 6 games left and a title to win, and even if we score a last minute winner I just don't see it happening, and don't think it should, the job is only half done by securing promotion, and I know that promotion is a priority, more so than winning the title, but once promotion is secure then everything should be about getting that title, it may just be the cherry on top, but what a cherry, we've not won the second tier in my life time, and football really is about winning things. I want another trophy in the cabinet, something to lift up and be paraded round.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 It's not next Friday, it's this Friday. Next Friday is the Friday after this Friday. Hope that's clarified everything.
kingcarr21 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 It's not next Friday, it's this Friday. Next Friday is the Friday after this Friday. Hope that's clarified everything. Some people do say next friday as its the next one coming. But i do agree with you i would also say this friday and next friday being a week on friday. friday friday friday friday friday FRIDAY
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 We're talking with of going out in to Leicester for the FT Scores. I'm sure thousands would do this We do that you know full well QPR will hammer Bournemouth . On the superior goal difference thing - if we lose 7 games in a rown and QPR win 7 games in a row I think it's fair to say there is a reasonable chance that will go, hypothetically speaking!
blueonyou Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 It's not next Friday, it's this Friday. Next Friday is the Friday after this Friday. Hope that's clarified everything. Next friday is the NEXT friday to come. Hence the phrase "Friday after next" doesn't mean 3 fridays from now
MattFox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Will this sell out? Plenty of seats available in the less busy area's of the ground at the moment and Wednesday have only sold 1000 apparently
AndWhat? Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Will this sell out? Plenty of seats available in the less busy area's of the ground at the moment and Wednesday have only sold 1000 apparently What has happened to Wednesdays support this season???

It wasn't this Friday when the thread was started, because that was last week, meaning 'this Friday' at that point would have been the day before. It's only become this Friday today.

I want another trophy in the cabinet, something to lift up and be paraded round. I don't see it that way at all. Who has ever invaded the pitch just because they finished top of the 2nd tier instead of 2nd? If any pitch invasion would be sad, it would be that one. Coming 2nd makes no difference to next season, the managers job, etc, whereas there is a world of difference between getting promoted and not getting promoted. Promotion is the only thing that really matters so as far as I'm concerned it's job done if we do that. Finishing top is another, less meaningful aim. Let me put it this way, if the match against Brighton sends us up officially that would be the perfect time for a pitch invasion. In the game that wins us the title, I'll celebrate but it will be muted in comparison.
Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'm just going to put this out their, hull were relegated from the prem in 2010 due to their having to be a 45 goal swing in their favour for them to survive.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I think the level of celebration Friday will be dependant on the results, win both games and it's job done without the P. Sadly that could lead to us being promoted without playing the next day. Whereas I personally would not be unhappy with that, as my son who travels from Sheffield Uni for every home match cannot make the Brighton game due to commitments which can't be broken Anyway, as others have said there are many permutations and let's just enjoy the inevitable unfolding! Soup Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Draw tomorrow would be ideal! A win tomorrow would ideal, seeing as I'm losing half a days pay.Ticket and travel, and knackered at work Weds.Much rather QPR win Saturday so we can clinch promotion against Brighton.
MattFox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 What has happened to Wednesdays support this season??? £29 , Friday night , team with nothing to play for against a team that doesn't loose at home, it's not very attractive to away fans really
Rincewind Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Just celebrate every game to come. Remind the opposition.
Dan Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 What has happened to Wednesdays support this season??? Would you go if you were in their position? Friday night game, expensive tickets, nothing to play for and most likely a loss? It'd be about bottom of my priority list being honest. This game being on Friday night is an absolute ****ing joke in every single department.
ealingfox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Tbh there really is quite a big chance QPR won't beat Bournemouth, Bournemouth are in-form and QPR have lost 3 of their last 4 aways. If we beat Wigan it's on.
