Stay Positive Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Everyone keeps banging on about QPR, but if you look at Derby's remaining fixtures, they - on paper at least - have by far the easiest run-in. They are my only concern now. That said, it's not really THAT much of a concern. It would take a capitulation of gargantuan proportions for us to screw it up now.
Jace Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 I think we will lose on Tuesday but let's have a Jamie Vardy party anyway we are already up
Danizen Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 I think NP will let the players join in with the celebrations. Normally managers in this situation don't talk about promotion until it's confirmed and go out of their way to stress that nothing is certain yet. Not Nigel. Yesterday, he said they've been talking about promotion all season and in January, I remember someone asking him if the P-Word was banned and he said no. He said the players were talking about promotion every day and he encouraged it. My mate's a Cardiff fan and I was insanely jealous that he got to celebrate promotion at home, under the floodlights so I'm celebrating if we win the next two and I'm definitely celebrating if we confirm promotion against Brighton. Winning the league is an afterthought, to me.
1964FOX Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Best to wait till full time in Tuesday night when everything will be clearer as to what can or not happen Friday.
Spudulike Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Brighton is the one. Tickets will go very quickly this week so I hope they make the away section smaller as I doubt Brighton will need a full allocation.
Hack Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 So here's the situation: If we win on Tuesday and Friday, we'll be 21 points clear with 6 matches to go. QPR however still have to play on the Saturday. If they don't win on the Saturday we're up. However, even if they do win, they can only equal our points, making us effectively promoted on the Friday night with our superior goal difference. However, we won't be officially promoted on Friday night whatever happens. Right? Or have I got this round my neck? What I'm wondering is, assuming we win both games, how do we celebrate on Friday? Do we act like we've gone up? Will it take the gloss off the celebrations, considering we could officially go up the following day due to other results? It would take a real awkward bugger to suggest it's not essentially in the bag now, I just hope I can take part in promotion party with thousands of City fans, rather than in my own home. Not trying to dampen the mood or anything, we should all be buzzing! The magic number is 7. 7 points won by us over the next 8 games. That is it. By the way it also relies on QPR winning there last 7 games. We are 15 points clear of them in 3 Any points lost by QPR in their last 7 games comes of the magic number. So, if anyone on this board thinks that we won't win any points in the last 8 games and QPR are going to go through undefeated in the remaining fixtures then I am not sure of your sanity or maturity. 7 points needed as long as QPR win every game, they drop points those points come off of our requirement to win. We are UP!! very simple.

hackneyfox Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 If we lose our remaining games and they win theirs they will overturn a 22 goal difference. But it won't happen. If we get 6 points in the next 2 games it'll mean we'll be on a +24 goal difference minimum, we'll have also scored more goals essentially making it +25. 25 goals in 13 games isn't going to happen but it won't be official until QPR drop points, or next Tuesday, so I can't celebrate till the P appears. Besides we all knew we were promoted a few games back.
sdb Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Something about this whole pre planned pitch invasion tells me it's going to all go horribly wrong. Either it won't happen due to security, and people will get overly aggressive, or only a few will get through, and look like idiots, or it'll happen when it's not 100% secured. Either way, I just have that feeling!
Leicesterpool Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Leicester will desperately try and prevent a pitch invasion on the last day. They line the entire pitch with cops 5 mins before the end on every last home match. Fvck knows what the issue is. If we win Tues, Fri and Tues, on the pitch I say! Or just pitch invade every home game from now on even if we lose Especially if we relegate Doncaster on the last day!
Sydney the Fox Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Best to wait till full time in Tuesday night when everything will be clearer as to what can or not happen Friday. Exciting times, really hope we can get a result on Tuesday, even a draw would do (preferably a win though obviously)
Hollism Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 The perfect scenario for me would be to draw the next 2, see Biurnemouth beat QPR next Saturday, and then us to smash Brighton 6-0 for the promotion party Having said that, I want us to get 100 points (that record is still on!) so perhaps not
crisp monster Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 We booked a family holiday to Florida a year ago and we fly out Friday morning. So after watching years of dross, 'I'm going to miss it when we clinch promotion. looking forward to the holiday but gutted I won't be there :-( Enjoy it people - you deserve it!! Will hope to get to my hotel in time to see the Sheffield game
Captain... Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Does anyone else find this thread a little sad? First of all the job is not done until we win the league, a pitch invasion before that will be a little premature. Think of Watford last season, imagine how pathetic it would look should we fail to go up as champions, we've been promoted for a long time, now it is all about winning the league. Saturday was a massive result but we have some big games coming up and can still be caught by Burnley. Secondly, why do we have to talk up and pre plan everything? let it happen, allow yourself to be spontaneous once in a while. Whatever happened before the internet? just enjoy the next few games and celebrate how you want, don't worry you won't be on your own.
foxfanazer Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Just pitch invade every game from now until the end of the season. Easy!

You're comparing a team winning promotion to the premier league, with someone winning a playoff semi final... And you think we would be the pathetic ones to celebrate that? As for the bold bit, no we haven't and we won't be until the P appears next to our name.

People understand pitch invasions for promotion. Besides, I never mentioned a pitch invasion in the original post.
cambridgefox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I quite enjoy seeing a fat bloke running on and slipping over,it always happens and I can say that I'm fat.
Ashley Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'm sure we got promotion against Brighton 11 years ago? Sure it was a Monday as well.
Fox92 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'm sure we got promotion against Brighton 11 years ago? Sure it was a Monday as well. It was Brighton. Izzet and Stewart? Pretty sure Izzet scored early on...

I bet that by the end of the season we will look back and see that we achieved the points needed for promotion a few games ago, there has been no doubt in my mind that we were going up since the end of Feb, we all know right now that we are going up and nothing can stop us. I'm not saying don't celebrate, but really we have strolled this league and celebrating with a pitch invasion when we are still chasing the title is like Liverpool celebrating with a pitch invasion when they qualify for the champions league. Get on the pitch when the season is over when the title is ours if you want, but lets not be premature, would you want to see the players out getting shit faced and doing an open top bus tour with the Brighton game a few days later? No because the season isn't over. @Kitch no problem with the thread, of course we should celebrate getting promoted, it's the talk of pitch invasions against Wednesday that I find a bit sad.
Number 6 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'd love it to happen at home to Brighton but I've had a vision: sometimes these things in football are just written and fated to happen. The person who scores the goal that will send us back to the Premiership is:

I also very much doubt there will be one at all at any point... unless it comes down the the wire or we score a late goal that means we are promoted etc.
