league 1 or championship promotion?

as much as we are all enjoying how well we are playing, and with promotion round the corner,, wanted to ask the question, which for you means more, the season we got promoted from league 1, or this season?

it may sound stupid, but for me I would say the league 1 season, as to bounce straight back up after what was a shit season before, was a big achievement. granted we had the best squad in league 1, we have all seen how long it can take massive clubs to gain promotion from that league, forest and leeds being prime examples

and of course had we not done it first time of asking we wouldn't be in the position we are in now

This season 100%, League 1 was great and took a lot to bounce straight back up but this has been a decade in the making!

I plan on savoring every last second of this campaign  :scarf:

This season without a doubt. No contest.

Whilst you cite it took those "massive clubs" a couple of seasons to escape, they've not come close to getting promoted from the Championship so this year is a far better achievement.

Also the fact we weren't fancied and weren't perceived to have to the best squad makes it even more satisfying.

Championship because we were favourites in League One but this promotion is a culmination of all hard work for past few years.

We should be not talking about p word just yet! Hahaha

This season, since I've witnessed the promotion from League One myself. Been there, done that.

I wasn't able to make it to the 2002/2003 celebrations, so this would be my first time being part of a promotion to the Premier League.

don't get me wrong, this season has been a massive buzz, and obviously everyone wants to play premier league football, I was just going by how important it was to bounce back first time, as had we not we could have struggled for a few years, and to say we shouldn't have been in league 1 is a bit naïve, as we all know the relegation season we played absolute garbage

Southampton and Norwich?

But this year definitely

Interesting because no doubt bouncing straight back was a great achievement. However, I think we have destroyed this league this year better than we did League 1 so for me this season!

Oops I forgot about them. I was just thinking of Forest and Leeds as they were mentioned.

Yeah a few clubs didn't bounce straight back, but the Championship everyday of the week and then some.

It's so far a different class, it's barely the same sport & to win it... Well?

Unbelievable!

Relegation to league 1 was a blessing in disguise. Allowed us to clear out some deadwood, get Pearson in who built a strong nucleus of a squad and gave us a fresh start with a new mentality. We've never really looked back since then coming close in the play offs twice and then this season. That promotion season was a breath of fresh air and after a number of mediocre years in the bottom half of the championship, gave us lots of wins to enjoy. Seeing us lift the trophy against Scunthorpe was brilliant, but the way we've played this season and a 20 game unbeaten run in probably the most unpredictable league in the world is just much more important. Very proud leicester fan.

This season. However if we hadn't have got relegated to league one then we might not have had pearson as manager and possibly wouldn't  be in this position we are now.

I was very relieved to get out of league 1. It was important, no doubt.

But this is more satisfying. It's felt like SO long since we were in the top flight. I've actually forgotten what it's like and I'll feel a great sense of pride to be back there. Being in the Premiership changes a lot. Everyone watches the Premiership.

Having said that, I don't think we'll have a more satisfying win than THAT one against Leeds. Oh Steve

This promotion, because we shouldn't have been in League One in the first place.

While I prefer this season, I hate, hate, HATE the mentality of any fan who suggests their side somehow "doesn't deserve" what happens to them, good or bad. We were in League One because we had been utter shite for the best part of half a decade at that point, and in hindsight we all seem to accept that it ended up being a huge wake-up call which started us on the road to where we are now.

Suggesting Leicester didn't deserve relegation to the third tier is like Manchester United fans assuming they have a god-given right to win the title at a canter every year. It's a delusion of grandure and makes us sound like the idiots up the road, currently managerless, toothless and still at a loss as to how they aren't an established Premier League club anymore on the basis that they were a good team three decades ago. See, also, the farce at Leeds for big-time charlies getting no sympathy from their fellow supporters. I don't want to be like that.

Being a lower league club for one season in our proud history was a blip that I'm glad we eradicated at the first time of asking.

Can't wait to be a top flight club again.

I remember 1980, going up via the play offs, promotion with Micky Adams and of course, bouncing back after one season in Division 3 (League One my a75e).

But this promotion beats them all, hands down.

The job that Pearson and his team have done to slash the wage bill and mould an ultra fit and skillful squad with more going out than coming in, has been nothing short of a miracle. I am in awe of what they have achieved this season and am glad that our owners will get the rewards they deserve. This season has given me more joy than any other and I don't want it to end!

This season has been amazing and thoroughly enjoyable but League 1 meant more to me for some reason.

Could be because we were at our lowest ever point, and there's only one way up from rock bottom. But mainly because I could actually see a team again rather than a massive hodgepodge of individuals all signed by different managers in different seasons, during our merry go round years.
