Corky Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 QPR away was huge, ended their unbeaten home record and took us level on points. Went top on Boxing Day and never looked back. Also, Ipswich at home, we'd just had two draws after the 9 game winning run and there might've been a doubt if we lost a game that we'd struggle. However, we were so comfortable, set us on a four game winning run where I knew we couldn't possibly throw it away.
midland_red Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 possilby the Derby massacre.....possible coming back against the trees with 10 men......but I could never bring myself to actually say it, and on here I kept predicting we would lose matches we ended up winning and urging caution and care. I though we were chancing fate by being too optimistic. Turns out that I was wrong
surrifox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 QPR for me - they were unbeaten at Loftus Road at the time and we would have almost certainly conceded in that game in the previous season. Maybe not nailed on to be promoted by the first week of April with such a huge margin but demonstrably good enough to finish in the top 2
ozvaldo Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 PROMOTION: QPR away. - You just knew we'd go up after that win. CHAMPIONS: Watford at home, Yeovil at home, and Wigan away. - Only champions claw back vital points very late on in those sorts of games.
foxfanazer Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Also 3 massive goals Drinky v Watford at home Nuge v Leeds away Mahrez v Forest away Got us vital points from nowhere
ScouseFox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 boro away first day we are the champions my friendds
McFoxy Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Watford at home. For our winning streak to come to an end and not loose did it for me. I thought we may be OK much earlier, but it was then that I was 100%
Cotts Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Leeds away, grinding out results despite not being at our best just seemed to be the added ingredient!
LCCFox96 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Leeds away. We had no right to win that game having played average at best but nicked 3 points at the death! A little lucky but to use Stringer's cliche it was "a goal of the timing of champions". Promotion was very much on from then on. Accepted we were likely to get the title after we beat Burnley away. Just got to get that one over the line now.
Silverdaz Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Leeds away, but I dont think we would of got promoted if our season finished like it did last season that built a whole lot of team spirit
Agent Fox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Millwall away on New Years Day, ugly as feck win was that.
Father Ted Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Bournemouth away for me. Such a scrappy 1-0 victory with a right scrawny goal, but huge 3 points. It was sealed then.
bovril Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I had an inkling it could be our season when we beat Wigan 2-0 at home. We played disciplined, attacking football which set the tone for the season. Then during that Millwall / Derby / Leeds spell I really started to believe. But the match that truly convinced me was the following week against Boro. They had been on great form, the weather was awful and I just had a feeling we would slip up. But it turned out to be such a routine win, it was almost boring. When it finished it actually started to sink in just how good we are and how determined this group was to get promoted.
fazzyfox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 The rugged professionalism of QPR away coupled with the new level of quality V Derby at home. However you look at it though we're only up because a squirrel broke Joey Barton's concentration.
Saxondale Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Over the Dec/Jan period when we won every ruddy game. Derby was probably the tipping point. What became clear over time is that, even when it doesn't look like our day, we can almost always pull a result out the bag. We always look like scoring - which is not something I ever though I'd say about a Leicester side!
MC Prussian Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I can't put my finger on it. In hindsight, it's easy to determine a particular game that sticks out. The game that I remember most vividly that put us and our style back on the national (and maybe even international) plate was the 4-1 home win against Derby County. That was true liquid football against one challenger out of the chasing pack. All in all, I've always been a big believer in consistency and patience and I'm just so glad it's finally paid off.
RoboFox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I usually insist that it's 'our year' every year... Seriously though... Derby.
Big_Nige Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Bournemouth away. Scrappy game, missed a couple of chances early on but still ground out a win with a late goal. There just seemed like there was a feeling in the crowd after that game. Whilst the Derby and QPR performances showed we were more than good enough to go up, it was a few weeks after those games that convinced me we were actually going to go up.
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Derby at home. Swept the floor with the form team at the time
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Last Saturday, when the fat lady finally sang. Bless her.
