lancyclaret Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 If Leicester are champions and Burnley do finish 2nds, don't you want Derby going up through the play-offs? We always seem to get 6 points a season off the Rams while the Foxes have beaten them easily THREE times this season. After their record 12-point season Premier season five years ago, I reckon Derby very probably would fill one of the relegation places.

Based on this season we should finish above anyone else who is promoted, but it doesn't work like that. I'd rather them stay down because I don't like them, and because McClaren is far too an inconsistent manager and embarrassing person to warrant another shot at the Premier League.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Hmm I want Leicester to win the title against Doncaster That's when we will get to lift the trophy hopefully
Bert Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Hiya, Burnley fan here in peace. I've been following your forum for a while now and really enjoyed looking in on your thoughts on us, and all things Championship. I still can't believe that your not certain that you'll be champions, you will be, hopefully just based on your own results, not ours. We weren't great at Blackpool, but we won. We were as good as I've seen us for a couple of months against Boro and lost, it's just the way it is at this stage of the season. I'm pretty sure that we are there now and look forward to seeing you, and contributing here (if you don't mind) over our upcoming Premier League seasons. You will get automatic promotion and deservedly so. Up there on merit and whilst we've played better teams, (football wise) the table doesn't lie. Burnley's work ethic and desire to get results has been particularly impressive. A core of 4/5 decent players filled in with some not well known but also very good footballers has contributed to a very good side this season. Hoping that you draw tomorrow so we can win the league Tuesday night!
Leicesterpool Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 To be honest I don't really care who wins, even if Burnley do win i'm sure we'll still win the league plus I'm not keen on the idea of Leicester becoming champions tomorrow and the lads hitting the town a night before a game. We don't want a repeat of the Brighton game do we?!
ceredigion Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 It's all part of being a football fan I suppose Doc. We are 7 points shy of you and we think we have no chance of catching you, yet we are 8 points clear of Derby, yet we think they are tied on for second! Burnley will get automatic promotion now. I don't think there's any question of that. If you were going to blow it, it would have been the other night against Blackpool. But in your heart of hearts, do you think you could survive beyond one season in the premier league? And if your manager quits half way through again, don't appoint another muppet like Brian Laws.

Would rather shite razor blades for a month than them to come up with us. Want them to rot fvcking hate them.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 Come on draw!I know it's so we can win the title on Tuesday but I just want to get it doneBurnley will come second anyway I'm sure
BlackburnClaret Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 "But in your heart of hearts, do you think you could survive beyond one season in the premier league? And if your manager quits half way through again, don't appoint another muppet like Brian Laws" I'm not sure how we would do, but I would like to think that a lot of lessons will have been learned from last time. Another thing, under Dyche this team will be much more competitive. We can both take heart from teams like Crystal Palace this season, also there's always a team or two in self-destruct mode. Last time we were up it was Portsmouth, and unfortunately us with the appointment of Brian Laws. Add to that there are some ropey teams up there. So, yes, it will be tough, but it's certainly not a write off. How confident are you? I'd be fearing for a Nigel a little bit, you know how jittery these foreign owners can get if things don't go to plan.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 April 2014 Posted 20 April 2014 To be fair I think Burnley will be gritty and Determined enough to be competitive in the prem and I just hope both Leicester and Burnley can stay up for a few seasons each

I've got a lot of faith in our owners after they stuck with Nigel at the end of last season. I'm not sure how much of it came down to not being able to pay the compensation to sack him (from an FFP perspective that is, we're absolutely loaded) but they will have learned that stability and no knee-jerk decisions is the way forward. And I imagine we will be absolutely fine next season. We've got a very good base with the likes of Drinkwater and James, Steve Walsh is a brilliant scout and we will just build on what we have this summer without throwing huge sums of money around. £400k for a talent like Mahrez just shows what our scouting team are capable of.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Why would people prefer Wigan to go up through the play offs? They are ready made to be back in the Prem. I want Bournemouth or Ipswich to, meaning there will be at least 2 teams including Burnley we will finish above next season.
Dan Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 And why will we come below Wigan? For what it's worth they are just bound to win tomorrow. Only at Leicester could both promotion and the title be sealed on different occasions without us even having a game. Draw is the ideal result but I'd take a Burnley win over Wigan. Lets add some interest to Tuesday.
weller54 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Bit of a bummer but I think we're going to finish with 99 points.. Strange omen for me if that happens as my dear Dad died earlier this year.. Aged 99!... Hope Burnley win today against Wigan and tie up promotion, they've deserved it, pleased for them..... Last season the least fancied team got promoted via the playoffs and perhaps that will happen again, hope that may have been Bournemouth, but shocking defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday has probably done for them.. Hate to say it but that sixth place might just go to Forest!!.. Forest v Derby playoff final???
Happy Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Hard game to call but i think Wigan will win this. However Barnsley to beat Derby as well therefore Burnley get promotion and we get the title.
Webbo Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Derby to win the Playoffs for me. Wigan still have their parachute money for another year, spread some of the wealth about.
Happy Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Derbyshire to win the Playoffs for me. Wigan still have their parachute money for another year, spread some of the wealth about. Do You mean Matt?
Marmite Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Don't want Wigan to win, I want to go to Bolton, hopefully win and then celebrate
