westernpark Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 The best team in the league are the market leaders.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 "... and Leicester were promoted when they weren't playing but Burnley have done it in style" That part was laughable.
KFS Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 "... and Leicester were promoted when they weren't playing but Burnley have done it in style" I heard that. Fvcking sorry we couldn't do it 'in style'
The Doctor Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 "... and Leicester were promoted when they weren't playing but Burnley have done it in style" Yeah, because we chose to have our game on TV and then wait for other results...
Craig Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Lifting a trophy at the end of the season is a bit more 'in style' than having a few pre-pubescent chavs dancing on the pitch.
ceredigion Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I usually have a lot of time for Jimmy Armfield, but I don't understand his point about being promoted when you're not playing. Ideally every club would prefer to confirm promotion at a home game in front of their own fans, but nobody gets to choose how and when they go up. It depends on how fixtures fall at the end of the season. When Derby won the league under Cloughie in the 70s, they were on a beach in Spain when Leeds lost and handed them the title. Would Jimmy Armfield say that didn't count?
Steven Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 It's started. Pre-match interview with Burnley chairman ... Dig no. 1 "Burnley are not owned by foreigners"; Dig no. 2 "Turf Moor did not come out of a box"; Dig no. 3 "We want to get promotion in front of our fans". All true statements but clear who they had in mind. Later, Jimmy Armfied "Wigan are the best side in the Championship". Expect more, sod 'em Fact no 1 We have the best Manager in the League Fact no 2 We are likely to be Champions this season Fact no 3 We have scored more goals (except Derby, whilst playing one game less and owning them twice) than any other side in the league Fact no 4 We have not been the beneficiaries of £48 million in parachute payments over the last four years Fact no 5 We are not constrained by narrow racial prejudice with regard to the ownership of the Club Fact no 6 I could enumerate a number of other facts about the superiority of LCFC
Dan Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I really don't get this 'Wigan are the best side in the Championship rubbish'. We are 22 points ahead of them and have taken 4 points from them this season. If they want to base it on their cup run in comparison to ours, we were the only Championship side to make it to the quarter finals of the League Cup. Wigan start with Martyn Waghorn up front who couldn't even get into our 18 man matchday squad. Laughable isn't it Wigan are very over-rated and are categorically not a better side than us. They're good but not better than us.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 "... and Leicester were promoted when they weren't playing but Burnley have done it in style" Jokers wtf
One Legged Beaver Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Winning promotion with six games to go is a lot more stylish than winning promotion with two games to go in my opinion.
Swarles Barkley Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Yeah because getting promotion with still 6 games to go isnt doing it "in style". Delusional, old twát
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Yeah the Burnley love in is getting a bit tiresome now tbh
foxes_rule1978 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 That comment makes zero sense, unfortunately we can't pick and choose when we get promoted. We did it with six games left. That is far better than waiting till the last two games.
cjslcfc Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 The whole "penniless" Burnley talk is really boring me now
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 "... and Leicester were promoted when they weren't playing but Burnley have done it in style" I was about to put this gem, it irritated me when I heard it.
lgfualol Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Poor little Burnley, no money, no rich owners. My heart bleeds.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 So has anyone bothered their arses by ringing into 606 and setting the record straight then? Thought not
chapero82 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 easports fifa and the premier league have congratulated burnley on twitter and now there is sky news coverage of it, and what do we get sweet FA
GloverFox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 ... Jimmy Armfield has lost an awful lot of respect by the pathetic and poorly considered statements ... perhaps it's time he sat down and shut up ... as a certain well known football chant goes! ... But then jimmbo will not understand that either!? ... Silly old bugger! Genuinely ... Well done to Burnley, a determined fighting finish, but certainly not the polished class act that Leicester have shown as even when playing poorly the Champions elect can still grind out wins.
DeclanMC Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 easports fifa and the premier league have congratulated burnley on twitter and now there is sky news coverage of it, and what do we get sweet FA Didn't we get promoted a few weeks ago, along with all the associated congratulations, or have I missed something?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Seems like the stench of jealousy is on here towards Burnley. Cheer up.
Socks Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 The whole afternoon has been a BBC Burnley Wankathon tbh Dyche is probably noshing off Pugash as we type People out there forget that we won promotion with 6 games left
KFS Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 We had a decent amount of coverage. Dyche is still a **** though.
