Leicester City are interested in signing Lyon’s promising defender Samuel Umtiti.

Umtiti, a left back, is seen as an ideal replacement for Paul Konchesky, who is reportedly leaving the club this season.

The France Under-21 international has recently attracted the interest of Newcastle United.

Leicester are known to have a good recruitment network in France, as proved with the inspired signings of Riyad Mahrez and Anthony Knockaert, the latter of whom was courted by Arsenal and Southampton last year.

On top of that, City boss Nigel Pearson has previously said that the public “probably won’t know the names of half our transfer targetsâ€, and Samuel Umtiti is hardly a household name.

Umtiti, 20, would reportedly welcome a move to the Premier League, and with the interest of The Foxes it seems perfectly possible that such a move could materialise this summer.

As much as I do like the Konch , I just think the prem will be to tough for him , I'd be happy if he stayed as he could mentor the yongsters coming through the ranks

Yeah he can which like Babs says, is ideal really. Important to have versatile players in the prem and certainly if said players are relatively inexperienced. Although 60 odd top flight, European and Youth internationals is good for a 20 year old
