Dan Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 I've maintained for a while look after the build up play and the goals will look after themselves.
Darkon84 Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 It's October and I have 10 serious injuries. Fvcking 10! What the hell FM, What's your problem!? Rarrrrrrrggghsfdboadflgojadfgadchdg

LCFC FOX Posted 16 January 2015 Posted 16 January 2015 I did change Eriksen to the IF and put Lamela as a DLF support (4-4-2) and I've won one lost one. Still didn't play great mind!

Danizen Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Knocky is lethal on the right of a front three. Powell is fvcking good, too!
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Has anyone perfected the 4-4-2?I know its all about players fitting systems etc, but whilst I've got some nice set ups, my 4-4-2s tend to get a bit overrun in midfield sometimes. I do favour a BWM, largely since I have a good player who suits it... but any advice? Is there anyway we can share tactics files? Another question - I like a look on the community workshop on steam - but I can't find any proper files for EPL badges, kits etc etc. Its not a huge issue right now, since I'm in the conference, but it does kill the immersion a little. A Leicester centre back has become my best player in a very quick acceleration of progress, despite my club being part-time and the coaching being abysmal. This gives me hope since generally my players seem to regress. Anyone have any advice on coaching/coaches for part time teams?
Finnegan Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 For all your graphics needs, Google sortitoutsi.
The People's Hero Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Thanks mate. Much appreciated. If anyone is managing a conference side by the way, take a look at Ben Greenhalgh from Maidstone to play in the AML position. Been excellent for me in a number of roles. Got him for nothing. Signed him as I really like him IRL (Inorite?) and wish he'd get himself properly fit, but he's very good on FM. My best signing I think, well, him and Elliott Moore from Leicester on a free. I seem to have accumulated 5 strikers all too good for the Conference whilst playing one up front, so I'd like to move to something including an AML, to accomodate Greenhalgh, with 2 strikers, but without leaking goals. My defenders on the whole are not brilliant and my keeper is terrible.

BWMs tend to leave their position, so if your team is not a high pressing one that closes down, you'll always leave gaps that half-decent teams will exploit. I would recommend changing his role to CM(D). What roles are your strikers playing?

I think perhaps I'm asking a lot of the full backs, playing them as wing backs, but I've not noticed us conceding too many goals with them being caught too far forward hence sticking with the 'automatic' option. DK - defend. 2 x wing backs (automatic) 1 x limited defender (cover) 1 x central defender (stopper) 2 x central midfielders (recent change in last few games, used to have a BWM). 1 x support, 1 x defend. 2 x wingers (support) 1 x advanced playmaker (attack) 1 x advanced forward (attack) - this may sometimes change to target man, depending on who is on the pitch.

The central midfield pairing in a 442 needs to be quite disciplined, the lack of players in the AM and DM strata can be compensated for by playing higher up and so the players are closer together. You need movement elsewhere because your midfield are relatively static, a widemidfielder on attack will break the lines and get into the box, you need a Treq, DLF or false 9 upfront to drop into the space in front of the midfield too.

Looks like I might smash the Conference up this year. Never had the transition between part time club to full time so it'll be interesting to see how that works. Presumably I'll need to re-contract all the players accordingly. My concern is that I have only one left back (well, two, but one is out for 10 months) and the other is 36 years old with appalling stamina. Loan market with zero wage contribution is my only option. My coaches seem particularly awful at training for new position.
Dan Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 4-4-2 got me out of the Spanish second tier with Las Palmas. High pressing was the way forward. Oh, and having the best forward in the league in Araujo.

My youth intake included 6 goalkeepers but not a single left back - and only one defender at all.
Stadt Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 What's your HOYD's preferred formation (presuming you have a HOYD)?

Jordan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 I'm about to finish a hilarious end to my 2nd season. I've kept the club above water all season, staying just above the drop zone all season. However, I've gone 7 games without a win, taking me down to 20th with one game remaining--one point above 21st place Nuneaton (and relegation), and 2 points ahead of 22nd-place Woking. I'm about to play Stalybridge away on the final day... and then the game gets postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Woking lose 2-1 on a late goal to go down, and Nuneaton can only scrape a 0-0 draw, and with my superior goal difference, I'd have to lose by 13 to go down. Not even the wonky FM15 match engine can blow this one for me! We were predicted to finish dead last, but we're staying up!
Jordan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Bilbao and Sevilla's B teams are giving me offers to manage their teams in the Spanish 3rd tier, and I'm expecting one from Queen of the South in the Scottish 2nd tier. Has anyone ever managed a Spanish B team? If so, what's that like? I'm sure the quality of the youngsters are great, but it seems useless if I can't develop and use them any further, unless I take one of those jobs just to improve my own reputation.
Stadt Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 If you take one of them up then you've done all you can because you can't go up.
Jordan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 If you take one of them up then you've done all you can because you can't go up. No, I'd be able to take them to Liga Adelante provided their "A" team does not get relegated from Liga Primera. Edit: Actually, that's probably what you meant. I was thinking about next season, but I guess you're talking about the season after that.

Jordan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Yeah that's what I meant Ah, OK. I probably wouldn't want to stay in that job for more than 2 seasons, anyway, assuming I'd last that long
Dan Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 It would be crap. You can't really win or lose. I'm 17th with Las Palmas after 13 games in La Liga - pretty impressive considering we lost our first eight games. Had our annual crumbling arrive in a totally embarrassing 6-1 loss at Granada and another at home to Cordoba, 1-4, but wins at Getafe and at home to Mallorca & Almeria have put us in a decent position. We're predicted 16th and I have literally no idea how.
Donut Posted 20 January 2015 Posted 20 January 2015 Ive started an English league, pressed random club. Ive been given Watford, who have a surprisingly tidy squad (Miles Jacobson is a Watford fan I believe?) Im about to make Andy Wilkinson my first signing which im happy with and I have a couple of good preseason wins against Udinese and Standard Liege in the bag. Interested to see how this one plays out.
