DB11 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 End of 2020/21 and I've just won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League I lost the European Super Cup and first game of the season, but after that there was nothing stopping me! In all competitions Played 64 Won 59 Draw 3 Lost 2
Stadt Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I think a lot of you are are probably overdoing the team instructions. If you are playing on Control as your mentality your line is already high along with the pressing, the passing length is short and the creative freedom of the players is a bit higher (I think) so if you then go and set short passing, play out of defence and retain possession the passing length of your team is so limited that the players only want to pass two yards in front of them and since there's nobody there they will hoof it. The same can be said if you've chosen the counter or defensive mentality and then pick -drop deeper -close down less -more direct passing -be more disciplined Your options are so extreme you not actually achieve the desired effect. Fluidity/rigidity is a bit more complex but isn't going to ruin your tactic
Fox92 Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 The offsides are a joke. Had two goals cancelled out away at Middlesbrough (lost 3-0), one at Leeds (drew 0-0) and more recently two at Blackburn (lost 3-1). Sitting 22nd in the league with Birmingham City. It's tough but the offsides don't help.
Vardinhio Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 Started one with Ipswich and despite being around 8th after 34 games I lost 8 in the next 9 and got sacked. Going to start a new one now. Can I have some advice please FM wizards> - Do you start yourself as a manager with the recomended level of experience? I normally do as I think making yourself a world class Continental A manager from the off is cheating. - What's your signing strategy? I look a some players with decent star ratings from my coaching/scouting team but their stats are pretty awful. There seems no consistency. - Do you look to build a new backroom staff from the off?
Stadt Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 Choose whatever experience you like but I'd select at least regional professional if I were you because players don't respect you otherwise at teams talks and stuff. Don't sign players based on their star ratings, go from their stats, even if they're a 2* striker but with 15 for finishing, composure, anticipation and off the ball they'd probably be better than a 4* one with more rounded stats but worse key attributes. Back room staff again is up to you but I usually try to replace/sign more scouts with better judging ability and potential. Try to expand your scouting knowledge too but that doesn't necessarily come from scouts, it can be coaches, directors of football and even physios.
Fox92 Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 I'm still so bad at this. I started a new game with Huddersfield and I'm conceeding at least 3 a game. I have tried having a holding DMC and defensive full backs but it males no odds You sound like me!
Fox92 Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 Also, wtf is wrong with set pieces. Doesn't matter who takes my corners/free kicks, they still don't beat the first man.
Stadt Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 You sound like me!What Roles and duties do you use? Also what strategy and fluidity?
Fox92 Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 What Roles and duties do you use? Also what strategy and fluidity? Tried most things Wookie... Strategy is usually counter away from home and attack/control at home (depending on who I'm playing). Fluidity was structured but now I'm trying flexible. At the minute both full backs (automatic), both wingers (attack), a ball winning midfielder (defend), an advanced playmaker (support), a target man (support) and a poacher (attack).
Stadt Posted 31 December 2014 Posted 31 December 2014 Change one winger to support and make your BWM a CM(d) and your target man a DLF(s) A BWM (even with defend) will leave a big hole in your midfield because he closes the ball down so having a player that holds his position will mean you're less likely to be exposed centrally. At the minute two passes can quite easily take out the majority of your players. Having two wingers on the same duty will make you two one dimensional so if you're just crossing all day long then the other team will just defend deep and narrow. You need to add variety to your attacks so I'd probably put a Winger/wide midfielder on support with an attack duty fullback/wingback behind him.
Ozwin Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 2020, won the Champions League with Leicester. Haven't won the league yet, it's really difficult.
DB11 Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Well Leicester can go fvck themselves! Won everything for them and then I requested to build a new stadium as we needed more income. They refused, I leaked to press and they sacked me. **** you Vichai
Dan Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Started with Las Palmas. I've never lasted more than a season in Spain. Always managed to have good games in England, France (in-particular), Germany, Holland, Italy, bloody hell even Belgium, but never Spain and I've no idea why. They have a 39 year old Valeron playing for them
The People's Hero Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 I see that the FM 'screwyouover' thing still exists. Tactics randomly stop working for about a month or for 5 games in a row you lose one nil having have 30 shots vs 1 shot. I'm reasonably good at the game as well before someone assumes I'm just rubbish. Enjoying it though. Having a good bash with Aldershot Town.
Finnegan Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Create two tactics that are almost identical, vary a little. So have the same individual instructions and team instructions but swap a few positions round. I have a 433 with wing backs, a DMC, two CMs and three strikers. Then a 451 with wing backs, a DMC, a CM, an AMC, AML and AMR and one st. Both have the same team instructions and both function more or less the same. The AML and AMR are a raumdeuter and attacking inside forward and the ST is a supporting dlf. In the 433 the central striker us a supporting dlf. It all mirrors much the same way but the computer considers them to be two different systems. When one stops being effective, I swap. My strikers and "wingers" can all play both positions. It's cheesing out the ai to an extent but then it's a stupid mechanic designed to create a false sense of difficulty, anyway. Barcelona have gone years playing the same way and it didn't automatically become shit after a season and a half.
Fox92 Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Started to get a bit better now. Somehow won away at Nottingham Forest 1-0 in which they played Jack Hobbs up front

Barcelona have gone years playing the same way and it didn't automatically become shit after a season and a half. That's a myth. When your team becomes successful, your reputation increases. This results in teams approaching games with you differently (when they would normally attack you and go for it, if you're a higher reputation they are more likely to defend) so your tactic that was doing well will maybe not be as good to break down those teams that park the bus.
Fox92 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Offsides are a joke. Must have a goal disallowed a game.
DB11 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 When you get fed up of a save either because you're so far in that you want to play again or whatever reason does anyone else 'Retire' their manager? I like to do it so as to add a bit of closure for the save.

I like to do it so as to add a bit of closure for the save. i have never got that far, i always start unemployed and manage in the lower leagues, even before i tried pentagon. retiring isnt an option, it would be admitting defeat. i prefer to pretend that save never happened
RonnieTodger Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Finally got this, and started a Leicester save. Been unable to get rid of anyone Brought in:Fabian ScharJoel Campbell (loan)Piotr TrochowskiNeil Taylor Drew 3-3 at Spurs on the opening day.
