Gary Eatfood Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Not denying it was a good performance, but we are still a work in progress and if Wood, for example, is going to be a part of our squad next season he needs to form an understanding with Nugent, Knocky, Mahrez, Drinkwater, not GTF, Hammond and King. That is how we can use Huddersfield away to prepare for the prem develop partnerships and understandings across the pitch, Moore and Morgan, King and James as a midfield 2, Wood and Nugent playing together up top with Mahrez and Knocky providing the ammunition, or Moore as an anchoring right back not going forward like RDL and giving Knocky or Mahrez free rein on the right, the opposition was poor and the three points largely irrelevant, you can also work on set pieces, taking and defending them, but that only works if you have the players that will be playing next season on the pitch, or you could play some younger players like Cain, Harry P and Hopper. This is more or less a friendly, NP did not pick that team to ensure we won the game, we don't need to give any players a rest, the performance and the points are largely irrelevant because I don't think we learnt anything from the game, apart from maybe Miquel is worth a punt in the Summer, but the quality of the opposition hinders that. Points are never irrelevant, especially when we've just broken the club record for most points in a season. I get what your saying but even if Nige did all of the above it still wouldn't make any difference to how we prepare for the Prem next year. Anyway, bring on Donny, our first chance to relegate a team since Barnsley in '98.
Captain... Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 I'm sure nige will take your views on board He doesn't need to he is doing a good enough job as it is, doesn't stop me from having an opinion. I do love the fact you can't have an opinion other than gushing praise when we win. They were my thoughts before the match, and the match didn't change that.

Bert Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 That's what happens when you desperately try and force one for absolutely no reason!I'd call it more of a gathering than an invasion.
Unabomber Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Gaz's finish was exquisite. Enjoy those 10 pints of best and that kebab tonight Gaz, you've earned them.

Disagree, really for me the unaswered question of the season is how to get the best out of Wood, he didn't have much impact again today, but then he wasn't playing with our best side. I would like to have seen Wood play instead of Nuge in the formation we tried against Bolton on Tuesday, 4231 see if that works for him, see if that is an option in the Prem, Wood leading the line with Knocky behind Mahrez and Dyer as the wide players, RDL and Konch offering the over lap on the flanks and James and Drinkwater holding in the middle. Might work, might not, don't know, but we have Wood who is an asset, but we can't get the best out of him, it is really now or never for him, it was a chance to try a formation to get the best out of him, no hassling from the front responsibility, which is why he doesn't work in our usual 442. That is what I would have done, at the moment Wood hasn't done enough to justify a place in our 25 man squad next season and today could have been a chance to see if we can get the best out of him.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Anyone got a video of the goals?Bloody good question
Rincewind Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 they will play against all sorts of formations next season so todays game may have been one that Person thought that using different players would be a good test for trying out a different one himself. You have to pick a team to counter balance th opposition.

Fox Ulike Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed with the starting line up, we should be preparing for the premiership, ok play the likes of King, Moore and Wood, but why play Moore at Right back? Why play Miquel, unless we are considering signing him, but even if we are thinking about, would he come when he can't even break into our championship side, will struggle even more to get into our prem side as we look to strengthen. Hammond and GTF, we know are reliable performers, but we already have better, and they won't be starting many next season. So if we want to see how Wood, King and Moore look, then they should be playing around the players that will be playing next season, not Hammond, GTF, and Miquel, and in the formation we will play next season, one with pace and power and drive from the likes of Knocky, Mahrez, Drinky, how can we assess Wood and King if they are playing with GTF and Hammond, and vice versa and Moore when he is playing out of position and without the usual right winger in front of him. On the other hand if NP knows who he is keeping and who is going and doesn't need to take another look at Wood, King, GTF, Hammond, Miquel, why not blood a few youngsters, Cain, Harry P, Hopper on the bench, or go for a strong team and crush them. As for the game, a decent performance, especially second half, I'm not really criticising the line up, I just don't really understand it and what it achieved, other than 3 points. Well, the obvious answer is that GTF, Hammond and possibly Miguel will be here next season. Hammond is contracted until 2015 so he'll be here. GTF Has been effective every time I've seen him, so no reason to suggest he won't get a years extention. Decent enough player. Yes Huddersfield were poor today, but we were clinical cos we had Dyer and GTF and Hammond and king just keeping possession and playing as a team. Possession is everything in the Prem. These players aren't spectacular, but Knocky and his 79% off-target shooting better get used to the bench next season unless he can learn to play with Dyer's discipline. A lot of fans won't like it, but today's type of performance will be what keeps us in the Prem next season. Going to Stoke, Newcastle and Everton playing two french fancy wingers just ain't gonna happen in the prem. Sean Scannell is only 23. I reckon he'd be a good addition to our squad.
fuchsntf Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 How can you prepare for the Premiership by playing Huddersfield away? Thought it was a very accomplished performance and another 3 pts, what more do you want? Simple, hes not happy if he doesnt have a whinge, We are Leicester, its in the midlander Character SET, we aint happy if we cant have a moan.....
Fox92 Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Just got back. Wished it was never ending; easily my favourite game of the season... We totally dominated, could/should have had four or five goals. Thought every player was brilliant, in particular Hammond and especially James... Atmosphere got better as well, especially second half imo. Everybody was just loving it.
lgfualol Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Regarding the Wood comments that I cant be bothered to find and quote.. I think clubs will fight over Wood next season if we put him up for loan. I really would like to keep him.

Fox Ulike Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Dyer won't be a starter next season Yes but we will need more than 11 players in the squad. We've only used about 19 players this season. So we still need about 6 new signings just to make up the numbers to the magic 25. In which case it's unlikely we'd start off loading anyone who's made a significant contribution this season.
fuchsntf Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 I dont believe we won...theres not not one video, I wont and refuse to believe it until someone, post a video of the so called Goals we scored.
Unabomber Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 What was Gary Johnson doing there in a quadxl away shirt shaking Nigel's hand after the game?
NewburyFox Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Brilliant performance today, although Huddersfield were dreadful and weren't really bothered. Moore struggled against Scannel, but everyone else played very well. I think we're finally seeing the best of Hammond. It's taken him a while to get back to the level he was at when captain of Southampton when they were promoted, but I think we're now seeing the best of him. James man of the match, absolutely superb performance. I'll be perfectly happy with him and Drinkwater starting together next season, plus probably a new centre midfielder.

Dyer will be in the squad but will definitely start less. We've used 28 players - same as Reading & Ipswich. Burnley have used the least (25).
fuchsntf Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Are you English or German mate? English feel at home in Germany, they are a bunch of moaners like us.
veezeeblue Posted 26 April 2014 Posted 26 April 2014 Time after time come here hoping to read celebration, back slapping and mutual glee plus some great photos and vids of the away day and what do I find ? where is the real post match thread ?
