Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Barnes was plan A, along side Vokes. We were so desperate for a striker in that game we would have taken Gary Taylor Fletcher.
rico Posted 1 May 2014 Author Posted 1 May 2014 By no plan B I take it you mean no fit strikers? Who's faults that? He had ample opportunity to bolster the squad and only brought Barnes in!
65RosesFox Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 To be fair even though Sky seem to love Dyche and Burnley, I think he probably will and should just edge Pearson to Manager of the Year. And I think a lot of neutrals would also agree. Too many people on here with their blue tinted specs on. We were still one of the favourites to get promoted this season. Yes we have comfortably won the league and should reach the 100 point barrier which is a fantastic achievement. However I don't think many Burnley fans would've expected play offs let alone automatic promotion, especially after selling their top goalscorer Austin in the summer, who scored 24 goals, second top goal scorer had 8. On top of that a lot of our fans and fans of other clubs constantly expected them to drop off at some stage during the season and they never did, they have been very consistent. Obviously not as consistent as us but in my opinion they have over achieved a lot more than us this season therefore for me he edges it.
Soar Fox Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Who's faults that? He had ample opportunity to bolster the squad and only brought Barnes in! whilst we bought in Mahrez for £300,000 cheaper than Barnes

Soar Fox Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 9 of the last 10 years the manager who has finished top of the league has gone onto win manager of the year. The only one who won the award but failed to win the league was Paul Lambert with Norwich in 2010/11 season.
ealingfox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 When do they do Manager of the Year? Player of the Year was bloody ages ago now, and Team of the Year is done and dusted as well.
Filbert_Ross Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Dyche wins it- http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20140502/sean-dyche-named-sky-bet-championship-manager-of-the-month_2293322_3798887
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Dyche wins it- http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20140502/sean-dyche-named-sky-bet-championship-manager-of-the-month_2293322_3798887 Well done fully deserved (apart from Derby better stats )Think Pearson should edge the yearly one but not by much as Sean Dyche has done really well in fairness
Sunbury Fox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Would be outrageous if the manager of a team who have got one of the highest points totals in history doesn't win the award. Not to mention that we have been the most entertaining team in the league and have scored a lot more goals than Burnley. If we had got about 85 points and won it with Burnley just a couple of points behind us then Dyche may have had more of a claim. Just hope we win and they lose tomorrow so we will then be 10 points ahead, making it even harder for anyone to claim Pearson should not win it. What is odd is that the media have been bigging up Kenny Jackett at Wolves, by far the richest club in league 1, for winning their league. Not heard any talk of the manager at little Brentford getting the award instead.

Not heard any talk of the manager at little Brentford getting the award instead. To be fair, Jackett did a pretty good job at Wolves: they were in as much disarray as we were when we went down in 2008. And it's unlikely that Mark Warburton would get it, because he's only been manager of Brentford since last December. I suspect that Dyche will get the Championship Manager of the Year gig: he's been campaigning for it for the past couple of months. Apparently, Burnley didn't get any parachute payments when they were relegated in 2010, so they had absolutely no money apart from the £1.35 they got from taking back old pop bottles. Honestly, it's true.
lgfualol Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Not surprising. He'll get some manager awards in the Prem next season I bet. "Despite conceding 40 goals in 5 games, being thrashed by Accrington Stanley in the cup and spending 40m on players. We feel it is right Sean Dyche wins the award as he was promoted on a shoestring last season"
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 If you look at it from a neutral, non-LCFC perspective then Dyche will be favourite for Manager of the Year, given the tools at his disposal and the job he has done. "Fourth favourites for relegation get promoted vs top six wage bill win title" Obviously I'd prefer NP to win it but I'm not that fussed (nor I suspect is Nigel) as we comfortably got promoted and have now won the league. We get the team glory, no big deal if SD gets the individual award.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 I will be fuming if Pearson doesn't win 'Manager Of The Year' award! he wont
JJS84 Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 How many points did Cardiff finish wth last season? they finished with 87 points.
ealingfox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Holloway's been royally mugged off for that April MOTM award. They really do love Dyche don't they?

So you think Mark Warburton deserves manager of the year because little Brentford got automatic promotion, currently 9 points behind the richest club in the league. Whereas you don't think Sean Dyche from little Burnley who were around fourth favourites to go down deserves it when they are currently 7 points behind us, when we were one of the favourites to go up, and are probably one of the richest clubs in the league......

The facts of the matter are that he has had better tools at his disposal than 22 other sides. If anyone other than Pearson gets it then this award has no meaning.
Soar Fox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Considering they'd just come up from League One I can see why. Yeah I can see why Lambert got it that year. But if Pearson doesn't win it this year because burnley were favourites for relegation then surely Holloway should have won it in 2010. After all Blackpool would have been one of the favourites for relegation that season. Houghton won it that year with possibly thee best squad the championship has ever had in it.

I think you've misunderstood. I think Sunbury Fox was highlighting the contradiction in the media by their constant praise of Sean Dyche and the fact that he will win the manager of the year (in my opinion), yet their ignorance towards the job done at Brentford. The leagues are remarkably similar - if Jackett wins manager of the year then so should Pearson.
st albans fox Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 i wonder if the award of april mom is to make up for the fact that he wont be mos ?
