Guest ttfn Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 The goal Bony scored on Thursday was absolutely insane. Worth £30 million of any oligarch's money.
Captain... Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Wilfried Bony is close to joining Man City for £30 mill. I rate Swansea but can see then struggling without him. Depends how they reinvest that 30 mill I guess. Hopefully they invest the money in Benteke, Ings, Austin or Berahino and screw over one of our rivals.

"accuracy on decisions in the penalty box stand at 98%, and offsides are now 99% accurate"
Captain... Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Are we really supposed to belive this? "accuracy on decisions in the penalty box stand at 98%, and offsides are now 99% accurate" Take the Simpson handball, the general consensus is 'I've seen them given' or I can understand why he's given it, they would say the same if it wasn't given. The laws are so ambiguous and down to the ref's interpretation it's a correct decision whether he gives it or not, by virtue of the fact that it was the ref's decision. Joke
filbertway Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 The offsides stat doesn't surprise me, the lino's generally do a bang up job with them. No idea how they make some of the correct calls sometimes.

Joke That's a brilliant point didn't think of it like that

No idea how they make some of the correct calls sometimes. I can tend to agree with this the only let down is when they get it wrong it's not just a marginal call the player is either at least 2/3 yards on or offside
filbertway Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 I can tend to agree with this the only let down is when they get it wrong it's not just a marginal call the player is either at least 2/3 yards on or offside I suppose they're the clear cut errors that stand out as something as marginal as half a yard is so much up for debate people can accept it either way. Much like the Simpson handball decision I suppose.

So much lack of clarity it's unreal.
Guest Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Kevin Phillips is on 5 live sport tonight, talking about striker training, Schwarzer (who's also on) and Pearson/the setup at City. Scattered through the programme in case anybody has the radio on this evening.
Corky Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Some Premiership referees have come under a lot of scrutiny lately (and that rightfully so): http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30704681 This ****s me off. Hackett and his era benefitted hugely from a time when the technology wasn't available, the cameras weren't in every part of the pitch and it wasn't slowed down to prove an impossible decision to call was staggeringly bad. He probably made countless mistakes but due to finances and time got away with them as there wasn't 24 hour sports channels and pundits ripping them apart. Was his time as boss a wonderful era for refereeing? Was the decision making spot on back then? Throwing a few refs out won't help at all, they make mistakes, they are humans. Players and managers make them too. ****ing hell, he worked with Jeff Winter and Graham Poll who became "personality referees". These guys are honest people trying to make the game a decent one. You'll get a few duffers but that happens in all walks of life. Will Hackett come out and praise the referees every week for great decisions? Just kicking people when they are down, jumping on a bandwagon that's rolling along
Fox92 Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Scott Sinclair going Villa? Just read that. Think he's only like £2.5million as well. Decent signing. Still only 25.
AKCJ Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Scott Sinclair going Villa? Just read that. Think he's only like £2.5million as well. Decent signing. Still only 25. I'll be quite disappointed if we don't challenge that at that price.
Grewks Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Scott Sinclair going Villa? Just read that. Think he's only like £2.5million as well. Decent signing. Still only 25. Bet he's on 50k+ though. And hasn't really done anything at this level in all honesty. I'll be quite disappointed if we don't challenge that at that price. He'd be on a higher wage than cambiasso.
ScouseFox Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 wow you can get scott sinclair for cheaper than george boyd
Soar Fox Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 I'll be quite disappointed if we don't challenge that at that price. He came down for talks last week, he wanted too much money.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Heard today that Stoke are after the Swiss winger Shaqiri from Bayern... Big coup if that comes off!
Soar Fox Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Heard today that Stoke are after the Swiss winger Shaqiri from Bayern... Big coup if that comes off! Weren't Liverpool & Man Utd interested in him?
CosbehFox Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Sinclair is clearly an example of how a player gets a better reputation simply sitting on the bench.
Richard Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 He was on loan at west Brom last season and only managed to break into their U21s. No thanks.
MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 Heard today that Stoke are after the Swiss winger Shaqiri from Bayern... Big coup if that comes off! Where did you hear that? Weren't Liverpool & Man Utd interested in him? He's most likely to join Inter Milan.
Stadt Posted 7 January 2015 Posted 7 January 2015 I think Sinclair probably won't reach anywhere near the levels he did at Swansea, a serious lack of play time destroys careers.
