ScouseFox Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 the only thing burnley "having a go" will do is leave them open at the back so they'll lose 3 or 4-0 instead of just 1-0 every game. they still won't score because they are fvcking shit.

They beaten some big teams this year. Can't see them doing us any favors at all though. It wouldn't surprise me if their fans wanted to lose their game against hull, just to piss on our bonfire! ADK Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 I'm tempted to have a bet on Burnley staying up. Don't think they will but there are some crazy odds out there. Not out of the question they win their last 3 and I think 35 might well be enough.
Tielemans63 Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 For me if we beat Southampton on Saturday then its job done. We would be on 37 points with a superior goal difference. Therefore Sunderland, Hull and Newcastle would need to get 38 points theoretically (due to GD) in order for us to go down. In fact if we go on that basis then we only need 1 win from our last 3 games. I would be very surprised if all 3 teams made 38 points. Thats not even including our other 2 fixtures where a draw turns out to be an absolutely massive point at this stage of the season. If we lose to Southampton then so be it. What we cant do is get on the players backs. Hull going below us in the league just makes survival that little bit more realistic. I agree mate. I know every game is massive but if we were to beat Southampton we'd be in a fantastic position - the pressure would be all on Sunderland the week after.

J.Lisemore Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 We have always had more quality than Burnley this season, but for a long time, less points. Burnley's best player is probably Danny Ings, and he's massively overrated.
AKCJ Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 You know you're shit when someone who has won 2 games since February (against 23rd and 24th) in the Championship turns you down.

Thought they were equal to us at Turf Moor and were robbed by a John Moss unfair red against West Ham. Don't think Hull are any better and then they play a Stoke and Aston Villa who will be on holiday. Beat Hull, and an escape is still on the cards for them in my opinion. Teams above them either have difficult run-ins (Sunderland play the top 4 teams in the league on form), (Hull have two difficult fixtures assuming Burnley can beat them) and Newcastle are to the prem what Blackpool are to the championship at the moment, real chance they take 0 more points. Don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility for a dramatic Burnley escape. They aren't as bad as Newcastle, Hull or Sunderland in terms of squad, just been on the end of too many 1-0's.
Danno Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 Hahaha, Newcastle, Hulls and Sunderland's squads are miles better than Burnley's. Plus Hull are a much better side than Burnley.

We played pretty poorly at Burnley, and still won. They're not stopping up. They can't score for toffee. I don't know how you can say they have a better squad than any of those teams. Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland all have more PL quality players. Based on their squad, they've done very well to stay this close to safety right up to the end. Don't waste any money on Burnley escaping. They're doomed.

Jimothy Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 Just realised that Newcastle might have a slight sniff of a chance, due to Cisse returning from suspension for their next game. Sure they'll still be a shambles at the back, but they'll be more likely to convert chances than with Rivière leading the line.
Aus Fox Posted 6 May 2015 Posted 6 May 2015 For me if Everton beat Sunderland on Saturday all we need is a point against Sunderland and we are safe. Their last two games away to the two best teams in the country. Arsenal will want to make sure of 2nd while Chelsea will be celebrating and want to go out in style their last game of the season in front of their own fans they will not want to lose against a team at the bottom of the table

Even if we lose to Southampton as long as Everton beat Sland and we hold them to a point at their place - then I cant see Sland getting anything from their last 2. Especially after watching Arsenal the other night and we know how lethal chelsea are. Even if they scraped a draw out of one of them it still wouldnt be enough. (and thats with us losing to QPR)

Maybe he was left out to enable the coaches to strengthen his defensive abilities and his stamina in enable him to play the wing back role effectively plus his inclusion in the team as a wingback rather than a winger once we'd got a reliable back sorted should not be dismissed.

davieG Posted 6 May 2015 Author Posted 6 May 2015 No he was left out because Nigel was punishing him for his GF's tweet and trying to ruin his career. /s Yeh he's a real ogre with a penchant for petty revenge at the expense of the team, he doesn't give a shit about how the team performs as long as everyone succumbs to his mastery.
davieG Posted 6 May 2015 Author Posted 6 May 2015 Leicester's 3-5-2 v Southampton's high line Saturday, 15:00 Enormous credit should be given to Nigel Pearson for finding a formation that perfectly suits his players' individual attributes; the swashbuckling long ball strategy behind this set-up could expose the Southampton flaw highlighted by Sunderland last weekend. It is rare for a tactical change to instantaneously merge with a squads' instincts, but the turn-around at Leicester has been emphatic. There are several clear reasons for this. Firstly, using three centre-backs requires less organisational understanding or speed, while favouring strength in the tackle and aerial prowess - the attributes of ageing defenders Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, and Marcin Wasilewski. Secondly, Marc Albrighton's phenomenal crossing ability and Jeffrey Schlupp's dribbling power make for excellent attacking wing-backs that will, naturally, thrive in a long ball strategy. The wing-back position is very tactically complex since, occupying a space between the lines, it is extremely difficult to mark. Finally, the 3-5-2 favours long ball systems since, with Jamie Vardy hovering on the back line and three central midfielders drawing the opposition into the centre, space develops for sweeping passes into the channels. It is this final element in particular that Southampton must be wary of. Both of Sunderland's penalties resulted from 50 yard clearances that caught Southampton's defenders high up the pitch. With Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand heavily involved in the Saints' attacking play, Ronald Koeman's side showed a vulnerability to this style. If Clyne and Bertrand hold high starting positions, and Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa continue their flick-on, run-off-the-last-man partnership, then Leicester's wing-backs may find plenty of joy in their opponents half.
