Lionheart Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Apparently it's called King Power because the King of Thailand is a silent partner!!
Footnote75 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 The King Power Thai Civil War. That just made my day.
m00nie Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 why am i not shocked when i read words like government and corruption..
Bettsj2 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Just seen a few people ask the question and I don't know enough about this sort of thing to answer the question. If.....if a civil war breaks out Thailand or something else happens, how does it affect LCFC? Does anybody know much about these things? If you look through history, the wealthy usually always come out well after a civil war. Thai people generally embrace the success of their fellow countryman so in this case, I doubt it will make a difference who wins a civil war, if of course there even is one. Whats reported over here can often be sexed up somewhat to the reality of a situation.
shade Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Ben Martial law? there'll be loads of shots but luckily most will miss.

Lib Dems will say that's all right. Labour will vote against it. UKIP will do a deal with Cameron and be in charge at the next election. So we should be ok till 2015 then UKIP will kick out our owners and we will be back on Viccy park for 30yrs. All good really
sylofox Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Alternatively Tops old man is an army general. They have a coup and he is in charge. We get a 1billion a year shirt sponsorship. 1bill ground sponsorship off the thai government over 50yrs Making us the richest club in the world. We by Messi and Ronaldo and put them in the stiffs. Qualify for Europe in 2yrs as champions and win the CL first time round. Open a 150k capacity stadium and rule europe and the world. Then buy the recock pride park or whatever they call it and the shitty ground to house our over spill of trophy's. I so hope this happens and not the other version lol lol
VLC86 Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 there'll be loads of shots but luckily most will miss. Ben Martial law? Is this where they go around swearing at the people who are supporting them?
davieG Posted 22 May 2014 Author Posted 22 May 2014 Thailand's army chief has announced a coup d'etat, saying the military is taking control of government. In a televised statement, the army chief said the military would restore order and enact political reforms. It came after two days of inconclusive talks by the main political factions. The army sealed off the talks venue and took the leaders away. Thailand has been in political turmoil for months. On Tuesday the army imposed martial law. The army is to send troops and vehicles to escort protesters away from rally sites, a senior army official told the Reuters news agency. The latest unrest began in the Thai capital late last year, when then-Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra dissolved the lower house of parliament. Demonstrators have blockaded several areas of Bangkok for months. Earlier this month, a court ordered Ms Yingluck's removal for alleged abuse of power. Thailand has faced a power struggle since Ms Yingluck's brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, was ousted by the military as prime minister in 2006.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 I agree with him, De Laet was quite the coup +1 for possibly the most awful punnage on FoxesTalk. And that's going some!
Deucalion Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Not claiming to be an expert on this but I think there are two 'sides' in Thailand. One side represents the more rural north east and poorer parts of Thailand and the other represents the south of the country and the usual ruling elite. Thaksin Shiniwatra was premier in Thailand when King Power were given a monopoly on duty free. He represented the north east of Thailand and has since been disgraced after being removed from power. My point is, King Power survived Shiniwatra's demise and were lauded by the new government as much as the previous one. They don't seem to be involved in politics and seem to be highly regarded by both sides. So I'm not too concerned about this. It does happen quite often in Thailand after all.
cc_star Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Fuss over nothing. Do you think when the Tottenham riots were going on the other year there were threads on Spurs message boards asking what implications this had for them?? Nothing like the same thing Issue is, does whoever who ends up in power confiscate the Srivaddhanaprabha's wealth..... or not, That's how it has implications for us... or not Nobody on FoxesTalk knows how that will pan out, and is seemingly unrelated to being blessed by the King, who must bless people of all persuasions & backgrounds over time
The Doctor Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Fortunately, unlike Thaksin, Vichai and Top are connected with the king, not the government, so shouldn't be affected by this.
Happy Fox Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Fortunately, unlike Thaksin, Vichai and Top are connected with the king, not the government, so shouldn't be affected by this. Spot on.

Thankfully a sensible post, thanks for this. Riyad_Suarez Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 They might be good friends with the King, but this kind of civil unrest has to be bad for tourism and bad for business in general. I have no dount they'll get through it though.
sw_fox Posted 22 May 2014 Posted 22 May 2014 Wouldn't worry too much. Coups happen all the time there, and I am very confident that there will be fresh elections shortly and civilian rule will be reinstated. Besides, the army swear allegiance to the king, top and aiyawatt have strong ties to the king so I would worry even less.
lavrentis Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Wasilewski visits Thailand. Post Wasilewski - Martial Law is declared. Must be a link somewhere
MPH Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 Fuss over nothing. Do you think when the Tottenham riots were going on the other year there were threads on Spurs message boards asking what implications this had for them?? What an odd comparison. Our army hadn't declared a coup. Neither had it detained the prime minister and many of her high profile supporters and colleagues.
