Leicester City have completed the loan signing of Manchester City defender Kieron Kennedy, according to Sky Sports.

The 20 year old was also on loan at Leicester last term, and the Foxes have now come to an agreement with Premier League champions Manchester City over extending the loan of the England youth international.

The youngster impressed during his previous spell, making 10 appearances for the Leicester City development squad scoring one goal. It is expected that Kennedy will go back into the development squad next season.

Why would we loan him if he has no chance of playing for the 1st team next year? Surely we should sign him permanently and develop him ourselves so we can reap the benifits should he turn into a cracking player...

Personally didn't understand the loan last season and don't understand it even more this season. The Development squad should be about developing our own players and giving them vital match experience, it doesn't matter if they win or lose as long as they are given the opportunity to "develop" and build towards the first team. It's ridiculous that we give a Manchester City player the benefit of development over one of our own when if he turns out to be any good he will go back there anyway. Pointless.

this is annoying me that people are making a big deal about it, none of you noticed he was here last season because he was in the development squad for god sake leave it alone its not important

I see your point, but really don't think we would just loan a player to help develop him for the benefit of another team. There must be some potential permanent deal rather than just loan a player for the development squad to send back an improved player.

It can be quite common to see players make a massive career after being sold/released from their parent club at a young age.

Why are we loaning in other players when we have our own to play

Because he's better than what we've got?

You should have a chat with Thracian. You'd get on well....

Maybe Man City are paying us to take him on loan, they know he won't get a look in at the moment in their academy and development squad so are sending him out to a similar status development squad.

Also lets not rule him out from the first team, with the 25 man squad we will want some quality young players as back up, just in case, it is not unfeasible to have 3 or 4 defenders out and he gets a place on the bench, or in a cup game.

Also, if you combine this signing with the Upson signing then it is like signing 2 27 year olds...
