Nalis Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Brazil will be shitting themselves after that Colombia performance, probably one of the performances of the world cup so far. Brazil will be shitting themselves after that Colombia performance, probably one of the performances of the world cup so far.
Beliall Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 TBH I'll say Cahill's is better, Rodriguez had time to control it turn and shoot. The ball basically came over Cahill's head for his goal, he had to hit it first time, and ended up connecting perfectly. . No way man. J-rods was way better.
Bert Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 . No way man. J-rods was way better.Agree. Both world class goals, but to take a ball on your chest, and hit it turning on the volley is something else. He even looked behind him before the ball came to his chest to see where the goal was. Phenomenal. But KingFox has to be different so I can't say I'm all that surprised.
MooseBreath Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Add to that Japan, Ghana and Honduras, also Australia put in a couple of decent performances but ultimately didn't pick up a point in a tough group Don't know what makes you think England could have beaten any of those sides except Australia. We couldn't beat Honduras in a warm up game. Ghana and Japan both decent enough. I think even Australia could have nicked it with a Cahill special. I put England 31st.
MC Prussian Posted 29 June 2014 Author Posted 29 June 2014 Uruguay are a shadow of their former self. Appaling football from them last night, Forlan couldn't make an impact at all, Cavani was all lost up front. All in all it, was a rather timid and coward approach to football from the Urus. They only really started going forward when it was already too late. Shame they got eliminated this early, but it serves them right. I think Tabarez should finally retire and let somebody younger take on the job and approach the task with a fresher strategy. They looked stale and wasted, frustrated and bereft of any flair.
Stadt Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 Rodriguez' goal is one of the best World Cup goals I've ever seen, Cahill's is no where near it. I think most people who play football could score a goal like Cahill's but Rodriguez' strike was like something from a film.

I think most people who play football could score a goal like Cahill's but Rodriguez' strike was like something from a film. I agree, it was a quality one-off strike but I think if you swung your boot at a ball like Cahills from that range then you'd hit the back of the net every 10 efforts. Rodriguez had the perfect chest control, the turn and then the strike that had placement and power from 25 yards. Magical goal.
ScouseFox Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 i like the little look over the shoulder as the ball is flying towards him to see if godin is about to take him out from behind, realises he has 2 yards so doesn't need to chest it off to someone else so thinks well this is probably enough time to bring it down on my chest, swivel and find the top bin, which he does superbly.
Samilktray Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 James Rodriguez is officially my new favourite footballer after this tournament. What a footballing chap he is.
Matt Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 James Rodriguez is officially my new favourite footballer after this tournament. What a footballing chap he is. Love him! Brilliant player!
VinceNoir Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 TBH I'll say Cahill's is better, Rodriguez had time to control it turn and shoot. The ball basically came over Cahill's head for his goal, he had to hit it first time, and ended up connecting perfectly. Disagree. It's a great goal, but the luck factor in such a goal is much bigger than in James' strike. James positions himself, looks over his shoulder to see where the defence is, controls it and smashes it. That, for me, is far more difficult than volleying it like Cahill did. Both goals were fvcking sexy though!
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 I reckon if James' goal was scored by Cahill and vice versa, you would still say the goal scored by James was better because he has a sexy name and plays for Columbia. If that makes any sense....

Beliall Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 No. If cahill scored rodriguez goal hed have been drug tested. And we would think his was better.

If that makes any sense.... If James was a sexy name we'd be lauding Matty over Danny Drinkwater. And I'm not sure prehistoric supercontinents are allowed to enter the world cup.
Stuliasz Posted 29 June 2014 Posted 29 June 2014 who is james' club team? Monaco. He played against us in the friendly last year:
