fuchsntf Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 Well done ROI.. Just dont understand posters again having a negative dig (not friendly banter, but spiteful misgogs). Great to see both Irish Associations qualifying. They will at least take a party atmosphere with them, instead of miserable Victor Meldrew types, not being able to hold their drinks or water, who will never understand just to going there for the craic... Brilliant seeing MON and R.Keane enjoy the moment together. Both proming the media its going to be a long long night/morning.Though MON says he will only stay around until 3:30.. If England fans and players realised and accepted, we are only 2nd tier level, we would enjoy ourselves alot more. Instead of blaming everybody but the players. Even having the audacity to believe we should of automatically beaten Spain in their own backyard. You can blame a manager at club level sometimes, but at Int.level its the players who choke and make the stupid mistakes, then stress themselves out instead of enjoying the moment. They forget they were chosen because they suppose to be in the elite of their nation's better players, they ask for more money, because of it. Dan LCFC Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 Yeah, we're pretty bad but we're still considerably better than Ireland. It feels like 2012 all over again.
GaelicFox Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 I have no interest outside of the British Isles. Never hated any nation but don't understand the love in the press either for ROI. Our leagues have loads of French and plenty of Africans but they don't get the press. Politically we have equal, if not more reason to mistrust ROI than France, Spain and even Germany. I was in Spain during the recent England v Wales rugger match and it was the familiar scenario of other "Home" nations shouting for the Welsh. This doesn't apply to everyone of course but to those who do, it is rather pathetic in this day and age. Have you been reading the posts on here ? And you wonder why it's ABE Anyone bar England I'll be honest I always want England to win And I follow the cricket team all over the world Having dinner with Chief Cook is one of my life highlights The press love Ireland because it's a party following with no history of trouble and back in charlton era they were very good

shen Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 It's great to see ROI, NI, Wales and England all qualifying. A shame Scotland couldn't make it a full house! It looks to be the entire opposite for the Scandinavian and former Yugoslav nations with no more than one (barring a Slovenian miracle) qualifying from those territories. shen Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 Sweden through... Ibrahimovic the difference between the sides. What a world class free kick his second was! Ironically, I just read an article on how poor conversion rates Zlatan, Ronaldo and Messi have and he pulls off that one... He usually has stinkers against Denmark too, but I won't begrudge him one final tournament. The Danes have been woeful this campaign, and it looks like Olsens superb reign will come to an end with a whimper. Shame that...

Alf Bentley Posted 17 November 2015 Share Posted 17 November 2015 Am pretty happy with the outcome of the play-offs. All 4 countries that I wanted to win have won. The Irish and Swedes should bring a bit of life off the pitch in case I manage to get over there: generally friendly people who enjoy a drink and a laugh. Ukraine are a better side than Slovenia - and brought a surprisingly large number of fans to Germany 2006 when I was over there for that. From all I've heard, Hungary are a bit crap, but Norway always seem so dour and offer so little whenever they qualify. I just hope that there isn't still a serious risk of terrorist violence hanging over events by next summer - and that there isn't an over-reaction with excessive security measures, police and soldiers escorting fans everywhere etc.
shen Posted 18 November 2015 Share Posted 18 November 2015 His quote after about Denmark was pretty funny too Fair play to him, I generally enjoy the banter between the Danes and the Swedes which is all good-humoured. The Danes have had the upper hand against the Swedes during the Olsen-era so no doubt this win was even sweeter for Zlatan. He was by far the best player on the pitch over the two games. As a football fan, I hope we will see a couple more special moments from Zlatan in his final tournament

Quite crazy to think Denmark, Norway and Serbia aren't in there given the extra places up for grabs. Norway have been very mediocre in recent years but I still thought they'd do enough.
