Replica Shirts at the Fanstore

Recommended Posts

Posted

As all of you are, I am very excited for the Everton game so I went down this morning to get a home shirt .... 'Sorry medium sized shirts (and I think large) have ran out'.

Ran out?
How on Earth can we run out of shirts. I get it, demand is very very high. So why hasn't, whoever is in charge of the Fanstore, recognised that demand would be very high, especially for medium and large shirts?
It's embarrassing. Are we a Premiership club? Do the likes of Man Utd simply run out of shirts? No because they anticipate the high demand for them, why haven't we?

I asked an assistant at the Fanstore who told me we have '2 stocks/orders a year' 2 a year?!?! Are you having me on?!
Then I asked when will the next stock be in; thinking it would come in tomorrow or Friday (Hey we are playing Everton on Saturday after all) 'in a few weeks'. A few weeks?
So basically, all the fans had to get their shirt as soon as it came out and when they all "run out" tough $hiT, and you've got to wait "a few weeks". What about fans who think 'I'll go a few hours before the Everton game and get a shirt' ... 'nope sorry Sir, we've actually ran out'. What a farce.

And before someone says: 'should have got your shirt when they first came out'. That's not the point. The point is the club should have, basically, an unlimited supply of shirts all year round if we are to be a "Premiership" club.

I could be wrong. They could have a big order in tomorrow for the Everton game, but I'm just going on what the assistant told me at the Fanstore. If anyone in here is "ITK" in the Fanstore please comment. I'm just really gob-smacked.

EDIT: I have the [email protected] to complain; has anyone got an Email of a higher position I could complain to?

The sad thing is that it doesn't surprise me...

Not a disaster for the individual to wear last years shirt but just a bit of a **** up on the part of the store to lose out on some easy money..

Yeah, I would have liked to worn this years shirt for the Everton game. I'm more angry that this is the Fanstore's policy?

They are still going with the Championship policy of Replica Shirts when demand wasn't high. How they have not recognised this is sheer ignorance.

I would assume that we buy the shirts from the manufacturer and then seek to recoup that cost through sales to the fans, any we don't sell obviously end up being recorded as a loss. I would guess the manufacturer only produces them in rather substantial quantities (say 5000+) so the club have to forecast just how many they think we'll shift, clearly we have underestimated on this occasion. You would have hoped that someone was keeping track of stock numbers and comparing them with previous sales to see if we are ahead or behind prior sales figures and also cross referenced this with who we've previously sold shirts to with regards ST holders and members to see if there is still a demand for the product going forward as if the sales have been to appear customers clearly we might have reached the limit of our sales, if however we have a mix of new and old customers then there is scope for yet more sales in the coming weeks.

You're not familiar with the club shop, are you?  ;)

Clearly demand is a lot higher than was forecast.

Its obviously a difficult thing to predict at the best of times. I popped in to get my lad's a shirt each a few weeks ago on a Sunday and you had to queue to buy the shirt and then queue to get printing done. I've never seen so many people in there on a non match day.

Also the eldest was at football training on Saturday. Now last season there was him and possibly one other kid in a City kit. This week I think there were 4 Mahrez's 3 Vardy's and a couple of Nugent's. Everyone has got involved, which is good for the club in general!

quite shocked to see that  the new away kits are not available and no one could tell me when
so had to buy the wife Blue kit

why launch something then not have it available ?
doesnt the  season start in 4 days ???

Had the same problem, wanted to order the new kit for my birthday. Went online last night to find no medium or large shirts available.

Wanted the home one but might just get the red away top when it comes on sale.

Have they got any of those John Bull 80s retros in there now?

I spoke to a girl in there in about December and she said they wouldn't be selling them again til this season.

i agree it is difficult to predict at times but a little bit of common sense could have been used.

We are a Premier League club now so demand was always going to be higher. there was a massive clue with the season ticket queues and how quick they sold out.

so it doesn't take a genius to work out if more seaosn tickets have been sold, then it is nailed on the new season tickets holders will want to buy the new shirt to wear on match days and more shirts would be sold.

the club never ceases to amaze me off the pitch when it comes to tickets, club shop, kit launches, advertising etc.

I thought it came out late anyway. Considering this, the club should then realise how many people - in store or online - want to buy them. Ridiculous.

If they can't accommodate your size - (I was planning to go down and get a M today as well..) - they should offer us 70% off on last seasons kit if they still have them, or an away/GK kit 50% off or something.

It's literally pathetic to be out of merchandise before the season has even begun, and two weeks? That's laughable.

In addition, i'm going to email asking for a size M, when they say they're out - i'll request a discount on the 'crappy away shirt then cause i'm not waiting two weeks to show my pride in your business'.

There were plenty there on Sunday.

Its not as bad as when they ran out of tickets a couple of seasons back. That really beggared belief.

I can understand it to a point as at the end of the season the club normally have to slash the price by like 75% to get rid of the old ones, but this early in the season, 10 years wait for premierleague football, the deamand for a medium/large home shirt would be huge, big mistake by the club if they can't get any in for a few weeks. Its bad really as the shirts only last a year

Posted

Every year there is some type of major problem considering our owners have made billions in retail it is beyond belief how these problems keep happening, it is like they are not interested in retail revenue from the club

BTW if anyones interested they can have my medium mens size for £100

It doesn't surprise me. There's very rarely anyone senior in charge of the shop, half the time it's the trainees and kids. When they ran that "Free Champions 14" name printing offer last season, they had to get one lad to do the letters and another to do the numbers as he'd never been shown "how to do the numbers".

It's something that the club needs to get into gear on because we've spent so long with smaller demands and dealing with fewer enquiries, they need to realise that not just thousands but millions more people will focus on the club. Being out of stock of shirts USED to be considered something minor but you'll never hear of it happening at any other top flight club.
