Impressed with Ulloa.

Yep, liked him a lot yesterday. Intelligent player, good technically and is good at making space for himself. Great aerial presence too.

Perhaps didn't look 100% fit yesterday, but he was a handful, and he looked like he's prepared to work hard as well.

Look forward to both seeing him play with Vardy, and also look forward to seeing Albrighton plant crosses on to his forehead.

He & Nugent tbh gave Jagielka & Distin a torrid time.

I'm excited to see Vardy playing off Ulloa, but yesterday give Nugent credit he linked up very well with Ulloa, and both players won a lot of flick ons.

Their partnership yesterday looked very good at times.

Didn't look fit, he's good at holding the ball up and someone who can win a flick on. Think he'll be abit like yakubu though. He'll score but won't run around like a Huuummmeeee. So the masses will be moaning.

He was fit and he did run around like Huuummmeeee.

disagree, he chased down balls, tracked back to intercept and got the better of 2 seasoned prem defenders time and time again in the air

he put in a shift and left them worse for wear by doing all that. i have no doubt it impacted on the equaliser we scored

Gave away a number of fouls in the first half after closing down. While you wish he'd been a bit more careful that shows that he was willing to harass the opposition.

Certainly wasn't what I'd call a lazy performance.

Glad i was proved wrong, fair play to the guy.

How you could even criticise/doubt him before he's even played a league game is crazy.

Really impressed with Ulloa yesterday. For someone who doesn't look the quickest over 20-30 yards he closed down the back 4 well, as did Nuge. The first half chance where he got between Jagielka and Howard could of easily bounced his way.

I haven't seen his header in the second half again yet, where he was unmarked and put it past the left post.

Still, extremely encouraging and releaved he got off the mark so soon.

He did run around and he seemed fit enough. He's a big lad, we can't expect him to have an engine like Vardy but fair do's to him he isn't the slowest striker in the world!

He created his own chances and got a goal on his debut. Don't be a neg!

Looks like everyone's excited about the prospect of him and Vardy... And I can't wait for that, they have all the tools to be a dangerous strike force.

Also with the threat we caused them in the air I was surprised it wasn't Nugent for Wood earlier on!

For me, Nugent is better than Wood in the air; as good a finisher as the latter is if there's one part of his game that needs a serious amount of work it's making a nuisance of himself aerially.

Was impressed with him yesterday - plays the target man role really well.

Hopefully he can build on that and keep up the performances. Took his goal well also!

Yeee I know what you mean... Nugent is better at directing headers towards goal and probably also reading the flight of the ball

I was thinking the strength and throwing your body into the air to win something because the big problem for Everton was when we attacked directly pumping the ball into the defence over the top. Jag and distan looked poor at times!

Don't think Nugent has the height to challenge effectively like Wood in those situations.

But your right, Nugents a better header of the ball than Wood and Wood seriously needs to work on that as he has the build for that type of striker and if he gets that right he would be a good striker at this level.

Mahrez sent in a good cross in the 2nd half and he had loads of room and time and he put it miles wide. I think he'll be better playing with Vardy because he can win flick on's and Vardy got the pace to run on to them. I thought Nugent did more running then anyone yesterday.

Wait till Albrighton gets in.  Who knows how many goals he serviced for Christian Benteke at Villa.  I can see Ulloa benefiting immensely, in a similar role.

I agree. Ulloa didn't get the crosses he wanted from the right, seeing as the two Frenchmen are left footed and it takes them a while to get them onto a comfortable crossing position, whereas Albrighton can outrun defenders without thinking about cutting in as he's already on his stronger foot.

I think he's going to be a real danger in certain games. In others he's going to get very isolated. He put a shift and half in yesterday which surprised me given Brighton's fans comments.

However my overall point is that PL defenders seem to have a real issue dealing with big men. I use three examples; Andy Carroll at West Ham is forever a menace. Then look at two lower league clubs who went on cup runs recently; Bradford City and Oldham Athletic. Bradford at the time had James Hanson upfront alongside Wells. Defenders had a real problem playing against the old fashioned front line. Similar Oldham had Matt Smith who turned Liverpool and Everton's defences into shitbags.

In the modern day PL, a lot of football is played in front of you and defenders like the comfort of watching the game in front of them. Defenders hate however getting their back turned and facing towards goals. Yesterday, Distin and Jagielka looked seriously shaky once a high ball was played just behind them.

I think it maybe something Pearson has picked up. Another example would be the success of Benteke and Lukaku.

Also felt Pearson tactically out did Martinez across the 90 minutes despite our 442 formation leaving us outnumbered on various occasions. Everton played 3-6-1 pretty much with Barry dropping between the cb's.
