ATLFox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Fanni are you ok, are you ok, are you ok Fanni? You've been hit by, you've been struck by a smooth criminal (Deeney) Change 'smooth criminal' to Lee Cattermole
johnny the fox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Not cared about the lads name, as long as he keeps it tight at the back. but at 32 he must look a bit like a wizards sleeve.
Robin JD Popley Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 He is a good player from whenever I've seen him play. Albeit the first time was against Arsenal in the Champions League, he created some good play, wasn't afraid to throw his weight around and has that extra bit of know how that we are still probably missing at the back - much for the same reasons why Upson was brought in. He won't set the world alight from my memory, BUT, he will be a very good signing for us. Also can put a good cross in too if I remember, which gives us another person to utilise from set pieces. A bit like Andy Impey used to be, but obviously, only better. That is probably the best analogy I can use. Will be a great tutor to Ritchie De Laet though in the right-back role.

If you aren't going to make jokes about his surname then don't bother posting!
Jordan Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 L'Équipe has just reported this, too. They relayed the report from francefootball.com that Fanni is set for a medical at Leicester today. They added that their sources say Fanni will be in England for a few days before discussing terms with Leicester, whom they say are very much interested in signing him. http://m.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Rod-fanni-attendu-en-angleterre/491223 (mobile link) Essentially, they're just rehashing everything we've read here, but as L'Équipe is something of the newspaper of record when it comes to French sport, I'd say there's a story here.
Shipman Out Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I've just put Rod Fanni into google. Mmmmmm some very interesting stuff, well to say I've just done it is a bit of a lie I did it at 7am and only just been able to stop looking at what I found. Still the boy clearly has Tekkers and looks quite versatile in this YouTube footage: http://youtu.be/PSytNBrD6jU
Babylon Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Guess which saggy faced cretin tried to sign him for QPR in Jan... it's only a matter of time before they are linked again

Nalis Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If he signed I guess commentators would opt for a Fan-eye pronunciation.
Robin JD Popley Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If you aren't going to make jokes about his surname then don't bother posting! Rectified boys... Chant in the style of the Hokey Cokey... "We stick our big Rod in, sometimes leave him out, In - out, in - out, let's shake it all about. Let's all do the Fanni and enjoy yourself; As that's what it's all about... LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI, LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI, LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI - IN, OUT, IN OUT - YES, YES, YES!" Better?
TrentFox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If he signed I guess commentators would opt for a Fan-eye pronunciation.I think I heard Sky go for Far-knee earlier ?
Richard Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Just a been reported on SSN, could be training with us this week
Wycombe Fox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Should be useful when we come up against stiff opposition
johnny the fox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Looking forward to Fanni spraying the ball about the pitch....
fazzyfox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Interesting to read that Fanni has had caps. I hear he's vulnerable to being licked by a decent winger. He sounds like the perfect match up to counter Joey Barton (P***k) when we play QPR. I hear we're also trying to get ex German international Kuntz as a coach.
weller54 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I hear Fanni wanted to play for Santos..A Brazilian club appealed to him for some reason..
dorsetboy Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Why do people say we need a starter at left back I thought konch did all good job on Saturday showed all his experience and positional sense was spot on
martyn Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Why do people say we need a starter at left back I thought konch did all good job on Saturday showed all his experience and positional sense was spot on Konchesky was absolutely fine on Saturday, but it should be remembered Everton didn't focus many of their raids down our left... Had Seamus Coleman and Mirallas been fit to play, it could easily have been a different story...It's still an area we need to look to improve in, a new LB would have been my absolute first priority in the close season.
queensguardfox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Sky sources understand France international Rod Fanni is edging closer to a move to Leicester City after flying to England for talks with Nigel Pearson’s side. Fanni – capped five times by France – could train with Leicester this week after being deemed surplus to requirements by his current side Marseille. The former Rennes defender is thought to be on high wages at the Stade Velodrome with Marseille keen to move the 32-year-old on. Leicister, who are also keen on former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, are understood to be keen to thrash out a deal for the right back over the next 48 hours. Fanni did not feature in Marseille’s squad for the 2-0 defeat at home to Montpellier on Sunday. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11712/9428259?
Houdini Logic Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I hope he doesn't find this league too hard and is simply able to adjust
