Konchesky was absolutely fine on Saturday, but it should be remembered Everton didn't focus many of their raids down our left...

Had Seamus Coleman and Mirallas been fit to play, it could easily have been a different story...It's still an area we need to look to improve in, a new LB would have been my absolute first priority in the close season.

just as well you're not manager then!

Gives you something different to RDL in that he can do the defensive side of things a lot better and more calmly.

Watching Marseille every now and again he seemed fairly decent (albeit when he was younger) and would make a good backup/replacement as mentioned before he can be played either at RB and CB, if we can get him for £400k and on £20k wages it would be a solid signing.

Makes you wonder if the sole reason he's been phased out at Marseille is just down the disputes with management or whether they think he's not up to the standard which would be strange because they finished 6th in a 'fairly' easy league where only maybe 2-3 teams would get top 10 in the BPL

It's my understanding that he's an attacking full back quite like De Laet, isn't he?

Yep, but think he can also play in the middle too.

He used to be more so, but now he's getting older I think he's changed his game slightly, he won't be as quick as RDL that's for certain but I think he would just have that more experience of knowing when to attack and when to stay back, still attacking but his game is more balanced in comparison to RDL (he's improving though)

Defensively he's a fairly sound player, against Everton Ritchie looked a little panicky and not fully confident when being pressed.

It's a clever signing as mentioned his ability to play both positions is always a help, effectively kills two birds with one stone although I wouldn't argue with another backup CB

No, he's a versatile utility player. He likes to play up front, applying pressure and running the channels; only takes a couple of balls to slide him in.

Yet he can also play the holding role, give and go, clamping down on the player in the hole.

I'm sorry. I'm very immature and deeply ashamed.

Aside from the jokes about the sex box. Think he'll come in handy this season, extra experience and cover, as well as challenging RDL for the right back spot. Anyone know why he was frozen out at Marseille?

Apparently he often turned up for training not beach-ready.

I can't condone that kind of sloppiness.

Rectified boys... Chant in the style of the Hokey Cokey...

"We stick our big Rod in, sometimes leave him out,

In - out, in - out, let's shake it all about.

Let's all do the Fanni and enjoy yourself;

As that's what it's all about...

LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI, LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI,

LET'S ALL DO THE FANNI - IN, OUT, IN OUT - YES, YES, YES!"

Better?

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is running the rule over Marseille's France international right-back Rod Fanni.

Fanni, 32, has played most of his career in Ligue 1 in France and is understood to be in Leicester to discuss a possible move.

Pearson, who is also after a midfielder and a striker, tells BBC Radio Leicester: "We will probably have to strengthen just to make sure we have enough numbers."

You can leave that to Bentleys Roof. Specialists 'n all.

Haha, couldn't resist. Don't know why that tune seemed to be best to fit it but there you go...

Konchesky did average - he misplaced a couple of easy passes and fed them straight to the Everton flanks. I just worry, he is a yo-yo performer!
