Ebola

Don't worry I wasn't hugely offended, but I do consider it a shame that we all naturally go to stereotypes, West Africa = Scam emails. I am glad you are stocking up!! Be prepared!!

Exactly, as I said, we face difficult situations with a bit of humour. However, it is also a lot easier to do that when the people involved are so far away and removed from everyday life. One day, it probably wont be a laughing matter. Get stocked up like Babs!

Yeah I kind of skimmed over your post to responded by saying exactly what you said. Stupid twat that I am.

I'm in Dallas at the moment, people are getting spooked around here.  Aslong as my flight on friday isn't going to be delayed, I will be fine!!

I don't think you should be allowed back in the country, too much of a risk.

Iv just had a pretty good idea if I do say so myself.

Big Brother has taken a huge nose dive in recent years and being as the vast majority of the people on it are absolute morons why don't they base the latest BB in the middle of the crisis?

Would be brilliant television. Bring in Dapper Laughs and Geordie Shore too and infect one person with it and see who survives.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter the standard of the healthcare, there is no approved cure and the experimental drugs are already in short supply.

However, the UK does have the capability to identify, monitor and isolate people who have been in contact with infected people. Well, until the sick person is on a tube or bus and spreading the virus on surfaces. At which point, then the UK has better services to isolate the infected, but as said before that wont necessarily cure them.

Another thing I am concerned about is the military personnel being sent to the region. The more people we send in, the more

that will get infected. The Spanish nurse who got infected is an example of how the safety measures are not fool proof.

Yes I find it also poor descision making. At present I dont think any country should be sending out any more military or medical personel. There are many foreign/European/USA/etc experienced medical staff already on the ground in Africa.

Logistics for supplies and handling thereof could well be organised by relevant military and govt departments around the world, without them sending out anybody else.Organising and supporting the African peacecourpe troops, plus local people, to set up service and quarantine areas. Medicins sans frontieres, and other medical organisations already have the expertise, management skills organised. Many going out are not taking any extra skill out with them, that is not already available.

Not scaremongering, but why not put a quarantine on travelling from affected and neighbouring areas.Lets say 3-6 months,

until more is known on controlling the breakout and its various strains. This is not a small issue to be taken for granted and used for nonsensical poltical rhetoric .

The Ebola crisis in my opinion could turn out to be a bigger issue than we are presently judging it to be.

Why endanger further, other parts of the world if we can contain it.

Epidemics, viruses do not recognise financial needs. In todays world ,including imports and exports any WW relevant African business should not be affected, it does not infect innate objects/materials.

If medical experts with no political agenda, can quieten down peoples worries and concerns, then they should come to the forefront and be upfront about it. My big fear is people with racists agendas and some without will cause unneccesary unrest, putting a fear factor within our societies.

Anyone else considering buying a plot of land oil Iceland and staying put for a few years?

Still too built up. Svalbard/somewhere in the Amazon rainforest would be my choice.

Falklands or some such isle might be a good bet lol , only thing that really worries me is some suicidal nut job deliberately infecting peeps for a cause.

That's where we're STILL lucky with Ebola: for all the panic it's still pretty difficult to transmit. You'd need direct bodily fluid contact (and a fair bit of it) to guarantee infecting someone with it.

That direct contact can be infectious body fluid left on a door handle for a long time. There is evidence it can last 51 days in the right environment, and indefinitely if frozen...

Are you having a laugh? Iceland isn't at all built up other than Reykjavik and in the Amazon you have worse things to worry about than Ebola! Even frogs are bloody evil in the Amazon!

Damn right - but at least it won't be Ebola that kills you. :P

You still need to be pretty unlucky.

I think that if it was fully airborne ala various strains of influenza/common cold, THAT would be the time to panic.

Ah sweet yeah I would much rather have 'eaten by a plant' on my tombstone than 'killed bleeding out of his arse hole'

I actually forgot which way I was arguing this and I seam to have proved you right lol.

What's the nicest area of the Amazon to create the new Foxes tribe?
