davieG Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 A gang up to 25 youths – including some who were thought to be armed – fought with each other in the street last night. The young men clashed in Maynard Street, Highfields, Leicester but scattered and threw away their weapons before police arrived. Police recovered a number of discarded weapons when they arrived at the scene. A senior officer authorised the use of special powers of stop and search under section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act. The power, which was authorised at 11.20pm, allows officers to search anyone in a specified area for weapons. Two young men were searched but were not found to be in possession of anything illegal. The powers were lifted at 7am today. No injuries have been reported to the police. The Section 60 power to stop and search was revoked at 7am. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Local officers will be speaking to residnts and staging "reassurance" patrols over the weekend. Contact Leicestershire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555 111. Samilktray Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 Seems a bit unfair. 1 team had 1 more player than the other.
Guest MattP Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 But I thought Highfields was just as safe as anywhere in Leicestershire? A lovely vibrant area. Suppose it's just as likely to happen in Houghton on the Hill.
Chug Laguna Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 It was exquisitely sung and choreographed
ScouseFox Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 what sort of 25 man (some armed) fight ends with no injuries? were they just shouting at each other?
Finnaldo Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 Seems a bit unfair. 1 team had 1 more player than the other. Maybe one was the ref?

Babylon Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 Witnesses Davie? What do you take us all for, do you really think we'd be driving round highfields at midnight, what possible purpose could there be to do that. Anyone got David Pleats number?

PAPA LAZAROU Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 Can't wait to get the latest coverage of this outrageous disregard for law and order reported verbatim in the Leicester Mercury along side a picture of Keith Vaz and Councillor Soulsby acting as peace makers . We are in safe hands .

Tielemans63 Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 No injuries. No arrests. Sounds horrific.
DennisNedry Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 There's no point asking on here Davie. There's no City fans on that street, or any of the other surrounding ones for that matter.
Finnegan Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 There's no point asking on here Davie. There's no City fans on that street, or any of the other surrounding ones for that matter. ...er, well that's a load of rubbish.

Rincewind Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 If it was midnight I would be at home annoying other Fox talkers so I am innocent.
Koke Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 So no injuries. No witnesses. No official suspects No arrest. No reported crime. An "incident" with so little facts still makes the local press. Perhaps they were just having an 11 a side kick about + 1 ref + 2 linesmen.

We are in safe hands . Sanctions. We need lots of sanctions.
StanSP Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 The Leicester/Doncaster Alliance has turned nasty already.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Heard it was the Troy Deeney and his Watford posse come up causing trouble .
