I like this. would have preferred to see Simpson but in reality, you cannot really change 2 of the back 4 straight away. Its the right thing to di taking Liam out. He's a young guy that has been very naive the last couple of games so needs a break.

Certainly looks a more energetic line up in the attacking 3rd with Nuge, Vardy and King.

Very much encouraged and very much looking forward to hopefully having a formation that clicks!!

After the last four results, all of which were due in part to several players underperforming, NP had to make changes.  I'm surprised at the team selection today, especially as I can't see where the goals are going to come from.  Nugent/Vardy worked well enough in the Championship and this may be NP's trial of the partnership in the Prem.  I would have preferred to see Mahrez on the pitch though.

Really not happy with that. This will hopefully bite me in the arse but that is pretty shitty.

 

I love that King has been added. But Nugent? De Laet? Drinkwater? James? I don't think any of them deserve to play. 

 

Knockaert, Mahrez, Ulloa on the bench? 

 

Nigel if we lose you're going to be in a shitstorm.

I'd assume De Laet will bomb forward to give width - perhaps why Simpson doesn't start.

Let's judge after the game, Nigel has his reasons and if we win he will get a good old rimming on here for his tactical genius, and if we lose he will rightly get panned for it.

Hammond on the bench because Cambiasso most likely won't play the full 90 and Hammond is the only other DM we have. Would have liked more wide options on the bench if the diamond isn't working.

If we struggle in this formation he will revert to 4-4-2, bring on Mahrez & shove Vardy out wide. 

 

Only one winger in the squad in Mahrez, no Schlupp, Knockaert or Albrighton.

 

We will see, but if we lose then the pressure will be really on Nigel.

edit. Must be disillusioning for him, working as hard as he can and he can't even make the bench - whilst players that have made 0.01% impact are on the pitch.
