What's happened to him?

I didn't think he was going to take the league by storm but I thought he'd be steady. He's been so out of position it's scary. I don't like to put anyone down but everytime I've seen him (bar Man U) he's looked a liability.

I'd like to see Schlupp and Simpson but also have Mahrez and Kockaert infront of them.

We've always looked good 4-4-2, especially at home.

He was dog shite against man u for much of the game actually, then laid on a couple of assists.

I don't get a lot of the hate he's had this season at all, I think that he's been ok on the whole.

But that Manchester United game was his worst of the season by miles until the last 20 minutes.

He has been awful, in the championship he could make up for his lack of positioning with his speed, it hasnt worked this season, today once again he was ran ragged by the winger, whilst we have a proven prem right back sat in the u21's, I like the bloke but especially in a narrow formation we need solid full backs, and he just isnt that guy, if we ever go 5 at the back him and schlupp would suit it down to the ground though

Will never be Premier League quality.

Said it from day one, but of course I'm stupid.

You are stupid to be fair.

That said, defensively he has been absolutely woeful this season. It's made me question how bad Simpson must be in training for him not to have had a bigger look in.

Has always been poor defensively wherever he has been.

Improved last season; however Premier League is a different kettle of fish, he isn't having to mark wingers from Millwall, Barnsley, Doncaster etc...

He is up against International quality, almost week in week out.

He tackles well, but there is always an occasion in a game where he switches off & it costs us a goal.

Not good enough. Said it prior to the season, still believe it now.

I don't think Simpson is "the answer" or "a God" (whatever stupid things people say) but for me I'd like to see him given a run out ahead of De Laet.

Pretty sure he was injured yesterday which lead to him being subbed. He was moving a bit gingerly.

I don't wish any harm against anyone but If that's the only way he's gonna get dropped...

Still think Everton and Chelsea were by far his worst performances. Good going forward but liability defensively. Another bad day at the office yesterday, although playing full back with a diamond formation must be a right nightmare.

Diamond in midfield means zero protection for RDL and added responsibility on him to provide width.

This. RDL is being asked to be a straight full back in a back four as well as being asked to gallop down the wing at every opportunity, beat players and get crosses in, then gallop back and slot perfectly back in as a full back. Bit harsh to complain that he gets caught out of position when his position covers the entire length of the pitch. He's quick, but not that quick, and he doesn't have super human stamina.

Heard someone talking here yesterday about Pearson's favourites , yet pearson will say players deselect themselves on performance so what happened when Richie had a shocker v Swansea bad tracking back etc and they score from the cross and I'm thinking Simpson will get picked next wk and somehow Richie keeps his place , work that out ?

Wasn't at Southampton, so can't comment on that.

But did anyone who criticised his performance v. Montero at Swansea see what Montero did to Calum Chambers on Saturday?

Absolutely roasted him. Ritchie gave Montero a much better battle than Chambers did, whatever his imperfections, and offers a lot more going forward, too. Work in progress.

he must be lickng pearsons ring piece because he his still playing in the first team could never defend even last season so this is no surprise same goes to nugent about ring piece

Along with the other one thousand players who have played for us this season, he has had some good n some bad.

I dont think any losses or wins can be placed at his feet, as a side (squad/club) we are failing to do what we need to.

He has been targeted by every team we've played - tbh I am surprised this has not been discussed more on the forum.

The way we play our fullbacks leave huge gaps behind them - looking at this weekends goals Schlupp was miles out of position for both.

Needs fixing quickly, it may even mean playing 5 at the back I don't know but we need to stop being nailed down the channels.
