lol I remember when we scraped past Wales at Wembley (That Earnshaw miss) and there was an outrage that Wales fans booed GSTQ, but we did it to them and no-one mentioned it. Who cares if they get booed? GSTQ sounds horrific at home games anyway.

Eh, much as I hate the word, it's just a bit of banter, about something pretty meaningless. Anthems are usually decent to sing along to (Although GSTQ is utter dirge), but they aren't some holy thing that can never be joked about. The scots/welsh/irish boo GSTQ, the english boo theirs - no problem there. Besides, while it's not as much for the scots (although the independence referendum showed a reasonable spatter of nationalism around the country), if you can't understand why the irish and welsh boo GSTQ, you're a bit naive.

I'm happy to call gstq a dirge because, let's be honest, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is spectacular. But let's not pretend that Flower of Scotland isn't droning and dull n'all.

A game we simply can't win, if we win people will say we only beat the scotch, if we draw it'll be like a win for them people will say "it was a brave performance by the scotch" and of course we lose we'll never hear the last of it. Shouldn't be playing these really.

 

Plus how can the scotch boo "God Save The Queen" its there anthem to! unless they let us play our real national anthem either Land Of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem. God save the queen is just a terrible anthem.

Flower of Scotland is pretty good I think, very passionate as well. 

 

I remember years ago when it was a huge deal when England fans booed the oppositions national anthem, now it's now frowned upon.

A part-time Scot deriding somebody else's national anthem, Christ. Flower of Scotland is the biggest drone out of the home nations efforts (and arguably Europe beyond that); Land of my Fathers the best by a considerable margin. I'm not even Welsh but I want to climb Everest with Tom Jones after hearing it at sporting events.

I'm pretty sure if we score 1 goal and they score 0 then we do win the game.

 

Unless, of course, all those anti england blokes at fifa have changed the rules just for us :ph34r:

I could make a snarky remark about it being possible to win this game if you, y'know, score more than Scotland, but that you keep talking like you're an American discussing whisky is frankly hilarious. 

 

Because, while it is the anthem of Britain, it's pretty much just associated with England? Do you not think that being thought of as just part of England might be a bit annoying?

Eh, flower of scotland may be monotonous and outdated, but GSTQ is easily the worst of the home nations anthems. No arguing the Welsh have got the best one.

They LOVE being called Scotch.

And when you call their banknotes "monopoly money".

They ran the Germans close in Germany. They're not half as shite as they used to be.

We on the other hand , are a fair bit worse than we used to be.

Much as I would love us to beat them well, I can't see it.
