Corky Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 She is with Andros Townsend? Christ that says it all, sick sick world we live in.
AKCJ Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Delighted for Bunting but no idea why Jenkins isn't in there.
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 interesting premier league pick of kim huybrechts. bit of a bellend and not really that good. odd one. would've preferred vincent van der voort.
EastAnglianFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Robert Thornton could be feeling a bit hard done by
kingfox Posted 4 January 2015 Author Posted 4 January 2015 Huybrechts isn't a bellend, like Van Gerwen he just gets over excited. When on his game, tbh he is a cracking little player.
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Robert Thornton could be feeling a bit hard done by not really got the appeal that a barry hearn wildcard would look for, really. that's why i'm surprised van der voort wasn't the last one, he's all blood and thunder and excitement. huybrechts will prove a controversial figure i guess, and a new country to be involved.
Maybes Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Only one I would have changed is swap Chissy for VDV

I agree, I was half expecting Whitlock to still get a wildcard due to the events and viewing figures they have in Oz. Would have been nice to have Van der voort in, big crowd favorite and fast action but I guess Kimmy could be that bit more consistent over the weeks and as you say getting a different country involved
RonnieTodger Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Called 9/10 picks. I said Thornton instead of Bunting.
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 huybrechts was the only one i didn't call. i had the other 9 and then the last one could've been anyone from about 8. will still enhance most thursday evenings no matter who's involved.
cambridgefox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Glad Bunting got in.Won everything in his last year at the BDO and seems to have settled in to the PDC well.
AKCJ Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Wonder if Bunting would have got in without RvB's antics...
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Would have preferred Jenkins in for Kim just for his entrance.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Andros Townsends bird now. The other one is the looker, that Hazel looks like a gone off bacon sandwich.
Footballwipe Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Really glad Anderson won and glad I'm not alone in not being keen on Taylor. As great a player as PT is, compare him to MVG, Lewis, VVDV, Anderson he's slow, steady and quite dull to watch (for me anyway) and it's more of a chore watching him. Plus he supposedly went on a massive weight loss programme a few years ago didn't he? That seems to have gone by the wayside, he looks bigger than ever. As an aside, I see a lot of people slagging the BDO off when it's on. No, it doesn't compare to the PDC, and I don't think it tries to these days, but have a look at the origin of the eight QF players of this year's PDC. Aside from Taylor who broke away to form the WDC, all seven started their career in the BDO, so it's not exactly bereft of quality, it's just what they have all make the now natural progression to the PDC, where the big boys play (copyright WCW 1995)

The BDO is the perfect start place for young/pub/county players to learn the trade and steadily improve whilst still not having to commit to the pressures of full time professional darts. A lot of people for some reason try to pick which code they like and then hate the other...why cant you just enjoy both for what they are? It's said that the BDO try to compare and compete with the PDC but from things such as forums/ex players on twitter etc it's the PDC brigade that have some sort of obsession with the BDO.
glenelgfox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 I am a massive Taylor fan but Anderson deserved the win and I have always enjoy the way he plays and he seems to have a level personality and decent sense of humour. No surprises re PL except for Hybrechts. From Aussie point of view no surprise to see Whitlock not getting a wild card based on his past 18 months or so. Have been reading on one of the darts forums that he may have a drink issue? I hope that is not the case.

It's the Europa League to the PDC's Champions League. Seems a shame that Hearn and Bristow are slagging it off, without it there wouldn't have been the opportunity to run away and expand the game. Barney was involved only 8 years ago, Bunting has made the move and done very well.

Barney was involved only 8 years ago, Bunting has made the move and done very well. Blind ignorance but I haven't seen your post! My reaction was looking at all the responses to BBC and BT's tweets about the championship with all the disparaging comments. I agree with your point, it's not got the finances to compete, ever again, but without the BDO there will be no breeding ground for talent. Hearn isn't interested in the grassroots, which is why he's never bought the BDO. It's not the best World Championship but it's still a World Championship and they shouldn't be bullied into closing their own, 42 year-old tournament just because a breakaway group set one up that proved to be better. Why Hearn and Bristow are so spiteful is remarkable. Bristow needs to remember where he, and the majority of the best players, have come from and Hearn and his marketing team have no problems in promoting Taylor as a 16 time champion, RBV as a five time champion and Sky Sports (strategically) referring to them as the "lakeside" champion. All of Hearn's money makers come through the BDO ranks too so he needs to learn to appreciate it far more.
kingfox Posted 5 January 2015 Author Posted 5 January 2015 To sum up BDO Darts the number 1 seed has just crashed out, after missing 18 doubles in a row.
Guest MattP Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Tried to watch a bit if the BDO stuff. It's pretty embarrassing. Certainly hard to justify the license fee on shit like this.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 To sum up BDO Darts the number 1 seed has just crashed out, after missing 18 doubles in a row. Against a bloke who scored 9 with 3 darts!!
leicsmac Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 No matter the standard of some BDO players though, the point about it being the grassroots talent spotter for the PDC still stands and as such it deserves recognition. As someone above me said, without the breeding ground the PDC wouldn't have the players coming through to the elite ranks. Having it on TV gives the grassroots exposure which is important for talent spotting - in the PDC you need a face and a reputation as well as the skill.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Bristow has every right to be bitter towards the BDO, they royally fvcked him over, and all the other pros at the time, they were forced to break away.
