Players refusing to speak to Radio Leicester

Pearson, as far as I'm aware, will still be doing interviews with them. I'm not going into detail about what exactly bothered the players so much but it was a group decision - it was something they felt strongly about.

What is the 'gesture' regarding? Just what was said to/about Pearson or did something else go on?

I want to know now  :(

Praps some of us are going about his criticism in the same vain he sets about Nigel.

Respect has to be earn't Nigel has done that with me Stringer never has.

As far as stringer is concerned 2 words spring to mind Piss and Fire take it you can fill in the blanks.

I'm not sure he has 'set about' Pearson. Stringer is a journalist, he's done what every NUJ member should be doing - challenge, probe and report.

If someone doesn't ring in after asking why they've had no interviews with the players I will be very disappointed.

Would be great if this happens and you can hear Stringer in the background telling them to cut him off

Why even mention it in the first place then?

Because someone said: "I'd like to think its a show of solidarity however it's not out of the question that they've been told not to talk to RL by the management."

And I pointed out that the ban was nothing to do with Nigel / media staff. Was just trying to help/clarify.

Good, to be honest the last thing I want to hear after we have just been humpted for

the umpteenth time is a player telling me how they are all pulling in the right direction

and working hard to put things right.

if it was between the management and players this group decision surely the management wouldn't speak to bbc rl

Players logic is all wrong though

By not doing the after match interviews they are punishing the fans.

So one or two kicking fans kicking off at the manager & reported by RL now ends up with the players punishing the entire fan base (most of who were fully backing the players efforts)

They need to think again

How so?

Are you emotionally or physically hurt because of it?

Most fans will understand the players' and manager's need for more time to focus on what really matters - training and focusing instead of talking.

And what do fans get out of post-match interviews, anyway? It's mostly a few soundbites here and there, usually resembling each other, week in, week out.

It's not like the fan base's general well-being is depending on it.

However, I will make sure you know I know, but won't tell you

Because he's billy bullshitting

Have I accidentally stumbled on to the wrong messageboard  :P  :D  lol

It was a decision entirely by the group of players, rather than the management.

They're not really punishing the fans though are they? They're still required to speak to certain rights holders post match [in Sunday's case - Sky, MOTD, foreign TV channels, 5 Live etc]. If I know the rules properly, manager and players don't have to give one-on-one interviews to RL post match but the club provide access to them and the Mercury because they try to be as helpful as they can with local guys.

For example, at the Liverpool game, Brendan Rodgers did a pooled radio interview with 5 Live, talkSPORT, Radio Merseyside, Radio City and IRN and the press officer told us two questions each. They didn't have to do it. Some clubs make you record the main press conference if you want audio of the managers.

There's a mixed zone (for non main rights holders) which players have to walk through and journalists gather there and can ask players if they want to speak to them.

Premier League rules are very different to the Football League. Some clubs are more helpful than others. As it goes, Leicester are very accommodating generally for the media and go beyond what they're legally meant to provide.

Imagine feeling 'punished' as a fan because you don't hear the usual inane shit in interviews.

The sooner fans realise that interviews are absolute faux the better.

It will be disappointing for me not to hear the players post match.

The BBC is the only real coverage and certainly the only LIVE discussion i can hear about Leicester, and while the majority of the answers are cliched and questions are crap, i do hear some information that interests and informs.

Understand the players making a point, but perhaps better to say they will speak to Bourne rather than Stringer.

Someone has to do this.

I was considering doing it myself but i'm going to the match so can't/won't be listening to RL and knowing my luck i'd phone up asking the question straight after them doing an interview and looking like a right idiot lol

Do you have Fox Sports Oz? The premier League preview show has some great interviews, a good one with Leonardo Ulloa this week.
