Players refusing to speak to Radio Leicester

Glad to hear this Tbh.

I'd like to think its a show of solidarity however it's not out of the question that they've been told not to talk to RL by the management.

Obviously I'm hoping it's the former.

I would guess Kieran Trippier and Danny Ings would probably have a great chance of being snapped up.

It wasn't me who said it. I was replying to Miquel's post. I think he made a pretty valid point. That's not doom-mongering, that's responding to a valid point. If you want to see it as doom-mongering, that's your issue, not mine.

you replied saying that his point was probably right, I'm not necessarily accusing you specifically, perhaps you were saying last season that drinkwater, james, moore, mahrez and knockaert would never get in other premiership teams? I don't remember. I just find it funny that people are so fickle, I remember when chris wood was our saviour on here.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you very much indeed for your much valued feedback on our football coverage on BBC Radio Leicester.

As a loyal listener of our commentaries, we appreciate the time and trouble you have taken to get in touch with your thoughts. And I would like to assure you that we give due consideration to all such correspondence. After all there would be little point in what we do without listeners like you.

As you know from our output, our Sports team has a passion for Leicester City Football Club to rival that of any fan. And there was no better example of this than our Foxes coverage last season when we covered not only every kick and every goal, but were also there with major outside broadcasts on promotion day, the final day of the season and the open-top bus tour. You will also be aware that we created a giant congratulations card for Nigel and the players which we took round Leicester for hundreds of fans to sign.

There was plenty to celebrate last season, as indeed there was during the early part of this season, and I’m sure you will agree that Ian, Jason and the team reflected that with a real passion and balance. And as a station, we were delighted in being able to champion that.

However, City have had a poor run of form recently. This inevitably raises many questions about the performance of the players, the manager’s role, and the concerns of the many thousands of loyal Leicester City fans – many of whom have got in touch with us with those concerns.

As a team of journalists, it is absolutely our role and duty to put those questions to those involved. You would expect the BBC’s political correspondents to ask the Prime Minister tough questions about how the country is run, equally you would expect our newsroom to question the City Mayor about decisions that may affect the council tax payers across the city, for instance.

And it is in that very context that Ian or Jason question Nigel and the players. I can give you my categorical assurance that neither Ian, Jason nor this station has any agenda against either the club or its staff. Ian enjoyed a fantastic rapport with Nigel Pearson all last season, and there were plenty of good natured chats between them, both on and off air. Nigel understands the difficult job Ian and Jason have on their hands, and has often said on air, “No problem, you ask what you want to – it’s up to me how I reply.”

There is mutual professional respect the two have built up between them – and we will continue to be a critical friend to Leicester City Football Club.

I hope this goes a long way in answering your questions and allaying some of your concerns.

Best Regards

Dear station manager,

I am sure you are aware there is a growing dislike of Ian Stringers style of journalism about LCFC, which is clear to see if you look on social media. My advice would be to let him do the commentary, which he is very good at but let someone else do the journalism, in particular phone ins and interviews with the manager.

His sensationalist style is a kin to tabloid journalism, which is wholly inappropriate for a local radio station. He clearly has a negative bias view towards Nigel Pearson because like me Nigel Pearson finds his style inappropriate for a local radio station, which has such strong links with the fans.

I have given my opinion on how to utilise Ian Stringers talents and if I continue to have to listen to his negative criticism's will be switching off.

Thanks

Haha I like the bit about elderly and children being present, so the next time modern classics such as "you're shit and you know you are" "you're shit ahhhh", "get into em' **** em' up" are harmonised within the king power, we are to issue an apology?

Would love a "**** off and die chant"

Yes that would be great!

Sung to the tune of Petboys "Go West"       e.g.  Villa, **** yourself & die, Villa, **** yourself & die.

Chelsea, **** your self & die, Chelsea, **** yourself & die.

                                                                             etc etc

Scum fans, stay at home, scum fans, stay at home.

Would be great to sing it at Villa tomorrow & also sing, "There's only one Nigel Pearson."

Don't you think all this stringer out crap and the campaign against him is equally as bad as the Pearson out one that so many people are so upset about?

nah, I'd say one is democratic.

It is but you won't get much joy on here with thoughts like that.

It's clear some can do no right, and some no wrong, where a lot on foxes talk are concerned.

For years the mercury and radio leicester used to brown nose the club. It's not a bad thing having the local media not bowing down to everything we do, but on the same token it can be toxic if they use hyperbole to generate stories. If this gets us back amongst the points I couldn't give a fcuk

Personally I could not care less, do the talking on the pitch or he will be walking regardless of the media.

Apart from one team? nearly every team that is bottom at Xmas ends up relegated?

Time to turn promise into results this weekend.

am backing the media including bt sports who said if he doesnt win on sunday he out fair and simply 5 points away from safety if we lose not good for the chairman

"We got stuck in the wilderness" thanks to financial turmoil and bad management, something we're trying to get away from with the current owners (just looking back at the past two years with Pearson).

Harsh on Fulham to use the 5-0 drubbing by Watford as a good example - they were a man down pretty early on in the game, so it's not representative as a case in point against relegated teams, but more an advert for the Championship and its unpredictability.

And as for "the Championship is the last place we can go": There's always League One. Remember, remember...

Yes I remember, when rumours of 'threat of going into Administration' became fact.

NP and these owners have brought respectability and stability to this club. The owners I am sure have their feet firmly on the ground, and heads screwed on the right way.The base and foundations are still being worked on.

BUT we aint going to do a QPR, or repeat Svens spending sprees. Its with these thoughts I wont just look at results, only the coming near future will show the owners intent, and that wont be this side of the festive season, so I doubt we will see panic at management level.Thoughts and actions relevant to N.Pearson and his coaching and management, the fans are not privy to what our owners are thinking and their future plans.

This does not mean however fans shouldnt have their opinions, negative or positive, but both sides should realise it takes or took alot of organisation and good planning, to get us just this far.

Funny as it may sound its not just the results that count, we may take a few hits and backward steps before we achieve long term stability.

I think this whole affair is going to gee up the team.

Let's hope so...

This whole affair is nothing but negative for the club though. Negative media attention, other clubs looking on and thinking Pearson is under pressure..smacks of a slightly chaotic situation. It's time it all ended and we do our talking on the pitch. The season, proverbially, starts tomorrow.

About time we stopped caring what everybody else thinks.

I think the club's actions show that they don't. As I said, time to do the talking on the pitch.

All part of a cunning plan by Stringer to build the teams fighting mentality

D'ya know what, should we win tomorrow, should we push on and get out of this mess it really wouldn't surprise me one bit if Stringer tried to claim that.

I'd like to think its a show of solidarity however it's not out of the question that they've been told not to talk to RL by the management.

The decision for the players not to talk to RL did not come from the manager or even the media department. It was a decision made purely by the players after the 'incident' on Tuesday to highlight how completely they are behind the manager.

So we'll still hear from Pearson then?

Seems a bit pointless to me, I'd have thought the vast majority know they are behind the manager, they're clearly trying just not good enough. Ignoring the local buffoon doesn't suggest unity to me, but it at least saves us from hearing the same cliche robotic like answers. Will probably improve the show.

Agreed. Fair play to Pearson for giving some back but I think the criticism currently being levelled at stringer is harsh. The bloke is simply doing his job.

Praps some of us are going about his criticism in the same vain he sets about Nigel.

Respect has to be earn't Nigel has done that with me Stringer never has.

As far as stringer is concerned 2 words spring to mind Piss and Fire take it you can fill in the blanks.
