That has to be it. Pearson needs to go.

Allardyce? Some people are in cloud cuckoo land. He'll be having offers left right and centre from top flight clubs.

Assuming we do go down as well Big Fat Sam made it look a lot harder getting out of the championship than Nigel Pearson did despite again having a far bigger budget.

Total net spend 2011/12         -2.19m

The season we spent 15m

P.S - He didn't make it look far harder, we came 9th on 66 points, West ham came 3rd with 20 pts more,

2 points behind automatic promotion, the season that Southampton went up, and reading won the league.

If we got Allardyce now, there's a chance he could get us relegated - however, if we stick with Pearson, he might actually keep us up.

It works both ways. :D

Normally it does work both ways, but Nigel won't keep us up... that's clear to see

Not too delusional then.

I didn't say we would babs, Clearly said "IF"

So hardly delusional, more realistic wouldn't you say that IF he came to us theres a CHANCE be managing a prem club next season?

He's not going to come here now though, not even worth thinking about.

I'm aware he's not going to come here now...

Just answering those that say he'd never come here on principle and that we wouldn't ever be able to get him...

Not sure you watched the game-5 at the back was working fine and we had the best of the game in that shape. Our full backs (the selection of whom was questionable) were freed to go forward and spent most of the time in possession ahead of the midfield. 5 at the back was more like 3. The problem with Sunday was leaving all of Cambiasso, Wes and Mahrez on when they were playing like dogs, selecting Schwarzer and Simpson, and not changing anything even with 10 to go.

There were lots of mistakes on Sunday but the formation wasn't one of them.

Perfectly summed up, I think the formation could be our chance, just need to change the fullbacks to pacey wingbacks in appropriate games

We had the best of the game with 5 at the back, Villa never had a sniff and we were making quite a few chances with only Given playing out his skin making the difference, if we'd have continued in that vain we could have come away with 0-0 or even a 0-1 win and still been in the competition

It's only when we changed to 442 that Simpson was shown up, Mahrez who wasn't even in the game continued to not be in the game which in a 442 is critical in comparison to the earlier 541

Ah I see, now we're struggling we have to rip apart his previous seasons and play them down. "Well we were too big for League One", "most sides have momentum after promotion", "only finished top because other sides had injuries", "Was it really down to Pearson or his coaching staff?"

We sorted ourselves out after years of struggle and managed to nearly achieve consecutive promotions. We reached 102 points in a league that supposedly we've little chance of getting out of next season. Pearson brought this coaching staff to the club. If Shakespeare and Walsh are so good hopefully they'll stay with the next regime.

We won League One and the Championship by being the most consistent side, coping with injuries, suspensions, loss of form and everything else each club has to cope with. This season has been very poor, our tactics, form, style of play hasn't been anywhere near good or consistent enough. Fine, I've no problem with fans saying this season Pearson has failed, struggled, messed up, whatever.

Why can't we just say that Pearson did well in the lower divisions and is struggling hugely at the top level? No need to play down previous seasons, just admit that, for all his good work before, this season is proving too much for a variety of reasons.

It could be clear to see at the end of the season. Up until then, I'd keep an open mind... and a portion of hope and confidence.

Wish there was more of this.

Malaga and Inter monitoring the Allardyce situation according to Balague.

Before I launch into a rant about how stupid that is, are you all joking?

My comment was wrt Allardyce. Yes he would be a step up.

... in terms of expectations, definitely.

Imagine the uprising if he failed to deliver...

The issue of Pearson in or Pearson out should not be connected to who is available or not.

If you are NOT performing in your given task your employer should, and usually would, pull the trigger and not say "let's keep a muppet because there is nobody else out there".

Pearson OUT period.

Oh look... someone else appearing to think football is like managing your local supermarket.

Exactly. If I strangled a customer I'd be out the door quicker than you can say "fvck off and die". It's not applicable.

I reckon we could lure Sam but he wouldn't be cheap.

You could theoretically apply your logic to football management, but please tell me whom you would employ instead of Pearson and how quickly you could see us appoint a new face?

It's not like there's a queue outside with enough appropriate replacements to choose from.

Even if we would sack Pearson and had to bite the bullet for a while, how long do you think things would work out well with an interim manager in charge?

Which reminds me - how often have you been sacked or made redundant in the past six years?
