Have we turned a corner? Post Man City

If you can't see that our players gave it their all and very nearly pulled off a draw against a very talented and expensively assembled side, you weren't watching the same game.

I've been critical of us this season. So no, I'm not deluded. But not today, I thought we looked every bit a side who are still fighting. I'd go and watch Chelsea if I were you.

In short, we will only know when we play West Ham next week. Not that I'm expecting too much out of that. We've had lots of false dawns already this season and there's no rule that says we have to win some time.

A fine answer to back up your constant argument towards belittling every single decision the team or backroom staff make, with clear concise reasoning behind your debate.

Well done Raj, I'll make sure I don't even bother to read your posts anymore when I see your name.. As most will follow suit I expect. Clueless stereotypical football fan.

Well done Raj, Well done. :appl:

tell me where I've hammered the players, team or staff...hopefully you've got me on ignore by now though so you can't read this!!

That's all very good and well, I can't argue against it either, but I could give my all, i'd still be bloody awful, but i'd give it a go and give it my all.

I don't expect us to beat Man City, but I do expect atleast 1 win in 11 games (I expect more than 1 if i'm honest but just 1 would be nice right now, I won't be greedy), especially given the teams we've played.

Someone accused me of not being able to take a loss/not winning last week, I can taking losing/not winning, but not winning in 11...i'm struggling with that.

Thats fair, I don't really know what happened, we were decent at the start of the season, (not including united that was a good day to catch them and wouldn't happen again)

but I think we have shown a different level of discipline to what we have become accustomed too, and I'm hoping we can nick something from West ham, Personally think we need a minimum of 5 players to survive but even then it's unlikely based on our last 11 games, if we play how we did against Everton, Stoke, Arsenal or dare I say it united, We would be fine, it's just finding that form and belief again, and I don't think we are too far off. I hope.

I think we've been very poor in recent weeks and today we were much better. Defensively good (1 error), worked hard, better in possession, but didn't really break Man City down. Granted we didn't test Hart, but other than Toures effort in the first half, I don't remember them testing Hamer much either. We've not been hammered once this season, we make 1 or 2 errors a game which cost us, and we don't take our chances. Great FK from Cambiasso just wide in the first half, Vardy maybe could have done better when he went through in the first half and a possible penalty on Vardy in the second half.

Couple of things that are frustrating - we are so poor from corners (I think we had 8 they had 2), we play back to our keep who just hoofs it long too often for me, another goal conceded from a cross.

I am not Pearsons biggest fan but actually think we should stick him. For me, there is no one to bring better we can bring in. Couple of big signings in January could turn us around. I would though, look to players that would stick around if we do go down. If we keep this young squad together, couple of good additions, we can be even better next season.

Raj you seem to troll everyones post with the same bullshit all day on here, but I am yet to see you give us the solutions to our problems? what do we need to do to save ourselves?

And dont just say "Sack pearson" or "Sign 10 players"

Who would you sign?

what formation would you play?

What would your role be for each individual player?

What manager would we have?

I mean, for somebody with such an assurance of his own opinion being correct constantly, you must be a very intelligent footballing man, Please wave your magic wand and tell us what you would do to stop us being the shower of shit you claim us to be constantly. Because to be quite frank, im starting to lose my rag seeing your crap every day...

I've never seen any constructive criticism from you or any sort of solution that is at least viable or even slightly likely to happen.. I'd love to hear an indepth insight from your endless amounts of footballing genius.

Welcome back not seen you post for a while.

Most thought we would take a pasting today we did not.

Can you not see the positive from that.

We did not play dull city we played man city the champions.

I bet there fans are pissed they did not score a hat full.

course i see the positive from that but its as if we were content to take a 0-1.

Like i said elsewhere where was our walshy/Elliot in through last 10mins in their quarter trying to do something different?

Why not go for broke at the end...so what if they break and get a 2nd??...Try something!!

I thought we were a lot better today, and though we didn't create a lot of chances against a well drilled quality side,we didn't give up.

As mentioned we now need to take the positives out of this game and carry it forward.

The midfield pleased me,when you know you are not going to see much of the ball, then you can easily lose heart, but they kept at it.

The need for a striker is paramount,Vardy for all his huff and puff is not the man

Schlupp was a disappointment, and I'm getting the impression he is very much a confidence player,he has a lot of ability,he just doesn't back himself, which is a shame

Irrespective of whether or not today marked an upturn in performance, we've gone ELEVEN games without a win and have earned just 2 points from them. That is approaching a third of the entire season. We are now fast approaching the halfway point, and are stranded adrift at the bottom of the table!

In truth, we probably need 30 more points to have a chance of survival......At present that's from 22 games, but fail to beat West Ham & Spurs and the target will be in the region of 28-30 from 20 games. Gonna need a hell of an improvement to achieve that!

This current run isn't 'becoming embarrassing'....... it is embarrassing!!!

I agree, it may be 'turning a corner' a little too late, the formation and tactics were much improved but it came after the games where it was needed most, no doubt the team looked better and we could have got something today but the fact remains we didn't and we have 2 points from 33, yes it takes a good spell and you can move up the table but it's starting to space out and if we carry on in this vein the gap will be too big

gotta say I am more confident post match that we'll be ok than I was pre match, despite another defeat.

Our team isnt good enough, worked hard, did well but not good enough.

There is no corner to turn, we have been trying hard and playing ok for weeks, the corner will only be turned when we win again.

Posted

Got a chance of turning the corner with that system, but if we turn up with 442 again, we're as good as down

Need to claw back to 1pt per game average immediately. Team that is bottom at Christmas has been relegated 20 times out of 22 seasons

Dropping Ulloa is a massive step forward.

He's obviously a really good player (not that he showed it yesterday) but playing three fast, slight players basically eradicated the temptation to hoof it and we retained possession through midfield far better with King in there.

Schlupp and Mahrez managed to get forward to support Vardy too, which Schlupp and Albrighton singularly failed to do the last time we played a similar formation (at Newcastle).

Turned the corner? Would of been nice to make Joe Hart make a save or 2 in the 2nd half!

Stating the obvious we are now 5 points off safety, considering we only have 10pts from 16 games that gap to 17th cannot be allowed to get any bigger.

We need to win at West Ham, so I hope the corner has been turned!

I can't see us getting a point at west ham, I'm hoping I'm going to be wrong

Yes we turned a corner, we still lost!

Need results pronto f**king hell a 5 point gap is quite hard to claw back even at this stage of the season unless we win back to back games which seems very unlikely at this moment in time.

FFS please get one more win I don't want us to be consigned to be a worse off team than the sheepshaggers were at this level.
