filbertway Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 Pretty sure everybody knows that, the point is that Terry Robinson was in charge of handling negotiations with the players agents and their clubs. Walsh identifies targets and Robinson was in charge of trying to sign them.

Pearson said there was nothing more Robinson or himself could do , they got what they could get . please watch the meeting.

I just watched it, the reporter asked if John Rudkin being in charge of player recruitment would cause problems and Pearson corrected him.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 Nigel Pearson has just said that Terry Robinson had no influence or choice in the recruitment of players . He has said that Steve Walsh is head of recruitment/assistant manager . He also said that he was disappointed that terry was sacked , he had no influence in that decision and when they worked together ,they worked well and was happy with Robinsons input . He also said that the comments that Robinson was sacked because of the recruitment at the club being poor and players missed by the club was untrue . He made one reporter look silly by asking where he had heard that ? He said that was speculation. not the truth ! Steve Walsh is the name you need to write in place of where is wrote Terry Robinson in terms of players and their quality and who came/didn't come to LCFC . Robinson had nothing to do with the players not coming or coming to Leicester . If you doubt me please watch the full meeting with press that has just happened . That means Jon Rudkin will not be involved in transfers like quoted by the Leicester mercury, it will be done like previously , by Steve Walsh . If true, again it shows just how little posters on here who claim to be 'in the know'...aren't. And what wild speculation is written. Wild, wild speculation.

jamesmilner Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4UNk7cqOlE watch it !! Ask Vichai is exactly what pearson said !!
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 its on youtube I watched it live . yep wild speculation was how pearson put it . So can it now be put to bed that the signings identified were by Steve Walsh and not Terry Robinson. Thus rendering all the bloody comments on here about Terry Robinson being 'the problem' utterly wrong?

Thus rendering all the bloody comments on here about Terry Robinson being 'the problem' utterly wrong? As I understand it Walsh identifies the players and puts them to Pearson, Pearson decides who he wants and Robinson deals with the actual contracts. It's Pearson's job to persuade players to come subject to them accepting the contract details the value of which would be determined by the overall budget set by the board. So we could miss out on players - If Walsh fails to spot them If Pearson either doesn't want them or fails to convince them to come and play for him. If Robinson cannot agree on the financial aspects of any contract either through incompetence, they didn't like his negotiating methods or because they wanted too much and it would take the club outside the agreed budget.

Not sure where there were any smokescreens as I've just described a procedure and where there might be weaknesses in it. I agree he is very honest and i heard the interview, he made no comment one way or the other about Robinson I would have described his responses as diplomatic, he’s hardly likely to slag him off in a public interview anyway whether he was complicite or not. I have no idea whether Robinson or anyone else was responsible for any failure in our summer recruitment or indeed if there was any failure.
David Guiza Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 According to somebody on Bentley's Roof (pinch of salt to say the least), Trapattoni is being lined up. Cannot see that happening at all, but just passing on some nonsense that I've read.

INCOMPETENCE would've stopped Pearson saying that 100 % . the rest I agree with in parts . you slipped it in but it just isn't true , sorry Pearson said .

INCOMPETENCE would've stopped Pearson saying that 100 % . the rest I agree with in parts . you slipped it in but it just isn't true , sorry Pearson said . Pearson has always shown himself to be a model professional and would never call anyone incompetent in public regardless of how they have performed. He is a man who clearly believes in keeping things behind closed doors and respecting his colleagues in the business. So even if Robinson did **** something up, or whether it was the owners or Steve Walsh, he wouldn't come out and say so in public anyway. If you're naive enough to think otherwise, that's your lookout. At the end of the day, we can speculate all we want - we'll never know why Robinson was sacked and we'll never know who was behind the alleged failure to secure summer targets. But if Robinson was such a pro and so fantastic at his job, it begs the question why he's been sacked at short notice without a credible replacement being lines up. Something has certainly gone on and its likely we'll never know exactly what.

theessexfox Posted 18 December 2014 Posted 18 December 2014 Odd sequence of events and Robinson seems like a bit of a scapegoat to me. However, judging by reports and his Ice Bucket Challenge Video (not the best source :xmaslaugh: ) he didn't exactly seem with it

Some will see (as you possibly do) that Pearson is a liar Others like myself, see it as protecting staff (or ex staff in Robinson's case) which is effective man management

So you basically haven't read any of my post and just accused me of calling Pearson a liar? I didn't say anything of the sort - I said it doesn't matter what he says as he's not the type to come out and criticise a fellow professional regardless of what they have or haven't done.
