Christmas Dinner.

Recommended Posts

Just done our food shopping as the missus said the carpark was too packed this morning. Only problem was there were only 3 girls on the tills and hardly any of the self service tills were open. Just rewarding myself with a slice of pork pie.

the fvck is Capon?!

Gotta be chicken, roast potatoes, veg, yorkshire puddings & gravy. Can do away with sprouts, stuffing & broccoli. Never known that cauliflower or mashed potatoes were essential for an xmas dinner!

Coco Pops and Baileys for Chrimbo breakfast... Starting as you mean to go on!!!

I've eaten Frosties & Baileys when I was at Uni... bloody disgusting

Breakfast: Bacon Cobs with a Bucks Fizz and some chocolate.

Starter: This year I am doing a pretty simple but tasty home made tomato soup, not traditional I know but it's delighful. Alternative option is Pate and a bit of toast.

DInner: Turkey
            Beef
            Roasties and Mash
            Home made Yorkies
            Pigs in Blankets
            Stuffing Balls
            Carrots
            Peas
            Honey Glazed Parsnips
Brussels (only the one for me)
           Red Cabbage
          Beef & Turkey gravy

Dessert: Christmas pud with Brandy Sauce & Homemade Chocolate Torte with Ice Cream.

Cheese Board, Meat Cobs, Selection of crisps and dips, biscuits, chocolates and finally after eight's to see it off with a large volume of alcohol consumed along the way.

Just writing this has made me ridiculously hungry.

Spare a thought for me, I'm at the in laws and although she tries my other half's mum is not the most gifted in the kitchen.  I've literally no idea how you change the colour of peas, but it turns out you can.

When people have pigs in blankets, do they buy those ready made pathetic little ones or do they buy some nice thick sausages and wrap some proper bacon round them?  When I used to cook Christmas dinner for lodgers/housemates, I'd do four of them each.  Probably was a bit much on reflection - I have vague memories of us all standing round someone who was struggling to finish it all shouting 'EAT IT, EAT IT'.

Happy times.....were just around the corner

My dad has a great strategy - does a tray of sausages and a tray of bacon, you can then construct your own

The ready made ones are generally shit, tiny and fashioned from 30% pork sausage and 80% water bacon

That's a fantastic idea - ensures the sausages are properly cooked too, I expect.  It's Christmas, no one wants to be compromising with crap stuff.

If I see a Morrisons Savers Christmas pudding in my line of sight like I did last year I'm pulling the f***ing tree down

I'd see that as an endorsement, you can't beat a good post roast dinner movement.  Maybe in the bath
