Got a week in July booked in Croatia.

Need a week away in UK for August,( I know we are looking at $$$🙄🙁).

Any good coastal resorts anyone can recommend in Walesland with nice Welshy villages and things?

I would ask @Finnegan but hes about as Welsh as me, just gives it the big Welsh thing now and again!!😁

You can't go wrong anywhere around the Pembrokeshire coast.

I grew up going to holidays at Tenby, Saundersfoot and till quite like them really. Tenby is very popular.

That's essentially next choice.

That or its less Balkans, Ljubliana/Slovenia

Slovenia is beautiful but it's not truly the Balkans. For me the Balkans is more or less everything within the red line, plus Istanbul which I somehow missed when drawing the line:

If I had to choose my favourite parts I'd go:

- Sarajevo and Bosnia in general.

- Prizren and Tetovo and the mountains between.

- Ohrid and Prespa.

- Southern Albania especially Gjirokaster and the area round there

- Anywhere in northern Greece but especially Epirus

- Rodopi part of Greece

- Pirin mountains in Bulgaria

- Rodopi mountains in Bulgaria

- North west of Bulgaria but we're getting very esoteric there, very little transport and indeed any kind of infrastructure but totally unspoilt mountain ranges and obscure medieval monasteries.

- Edirne and Istanbul

What are you looking to do?  We got a place in Underscar near Keswick for the reason if the weather beats us there's a town to eat and drink in.  Around Scarfell there's not vast amounts of back up things to do as it's a bit further out and away from settlements.  That said, the weather can clear up in the lower valleys so even if Scarfell is inaccessible, there are lots of other walking opportunities to be had.

I was hoping to do lot of hiking along with some sight seeing.   Staying near to a village/town where I can go for food or a pint sounds great too.

Ljubljana is one if the nicest cities I've been to, although granted there haven't been that many. But we loved it, and Slovenia in general, it's very near the top of our list of places we'd love to return to

I cannot recommend Slovenia enough.  Went last summer and absolutely love the wide array of scenery.    I ended my travels in Ljublijana and actually found it bit of a let down due to its small size and after being in nature for so long.   I do think if I started in Ljublijana,  I would have enjoyed it more to be fair.

How do you accidentally go on a Caribbean cruise?!

You book a cruise to Cuba, Honduras and Guatemala from Miami... then Donald T recinds travel to Cuba from the USA and, you just end up accidentally on a Caribbean cruise...

Not getting off the ship is madness! Only Caribbean islands i wasnt really a fan of was Tobago and Guadeloupe but im sure if we had done some more research there'd be some amazing things to do there.

It was lovely, like a week in a very nice AI hotel. We'd just been to NYC and Canada in the cold so, just enjoyed the sun. We'd been to all the islands previously and didn't see anything new we'd like to explore. Plus,  it included a couple we really didn't like i.e Jamaica.

I liked Guadeloupe, we're disembarking there in December, hoping to do the botanical gardens and death in paradise tour this time.

Keswick and Ambleside are the best towns to stay in as they're quite busy.

You been before? My favourite walk is from Coniston, through the copper mine valley and up to Old Man Coniston. So many little detours and deviations you can make there. My favourite part of the world by far.

Agreed, beautiful country and so much to explore. Cheap food and wine too!

Decided to do a bit of a random trip in a couple of weeks. Flying to Paris and staying the night. Next day we get the train to Zurich for one night. Day after that we get the train to Lake Como for 3 nights then train to Verona for 2 nights.

Not too bothered about Paris even though I've never been but the wife wanted to go and realise its probably too short a trip to see much in Switzerland but it'll be an adventure!

Out of interest are you using an Interail pass? Been looking at doing a similar sort of trip and it looks like the best way to do it.

A section of the workforce that did my Garden were Albanian and we had some exchanges about holidays, they were trying to convince me it is like the Caribbean in the summer months! Some of the pictures looked pretty good to be fair - never somewhere I had considered going to before.

Haha, yeh its £250 for the pass and that gets you 4-days of unlimited train travel. Although you do need to book reservations of some journeys. Good way to get across Eurpope really.

Keswick is class. Great walks from there and the town is very good for pubs and places to eat.

Albanians are not known for their modesty when it comes to their country which I'm sure you figured out. I haven't spent much time on the coast but yeah looks amazing and probably 20 years ago you could find some incredible unspoilt parts. I think it's quite hip these days.

Sarajevo and Bosnia is winning.

Belgrade actually reminded me at times of Thessaloniki

No, it would be my first time.  I have been wanting to go for ages although especially that I live in Derby so get to enjoy walks in Peak District.    Was planning to wing it as it would be a last minute trip but now I am thinking I should do some research!

Over in Italy to watch Vardy play tomorrow, What’s Brescia like? I’ll have a few hours to kill after so might have a wander round.

Also, are all airports in Europe absolutely carnage at passport control at the minute? 2 and a half hours at Bergamo today…

Not a nice city but it does have a few good historic sights to fill an afternoon

Cheers mate, I drove through it on the way actually and it didn’t look great. It’s only an hour or two stop on the way back to Bergamo tomorrow and another place in Italy I can tick off.

Good few days in Koh Samui, proper sunshine and good food, drink, tropical scenery etc. Not so great that a war starts as we’re at the airport to go home. Made it to Bangkok and stranded here now as the middle east is shut for the foreseeable and all flights into Europe are sold out for days. Qatar airways said nothing yet but I presume 100,000s are contacting them. Try my luck via China or Singapore but it’s looking really tough.

Sitting in Bergamo airport next to a departure gate and a family of 10 rock up at the gate after it’s closed and start kicking off. The lady working on the gate gives them an absolute gob full saying it’s their own fault and the time to arrive is clearly written on their boarding card, locks up and walks off leaving them stranded with no other flight to Belgrade for 24 hours. Absolute scenes 😂
